It was the spectacular venue for our family wedding weekend. All of the wedding activities occurred on this amazing property and were beautifully done.
The service was top-notch. If we had any inquiries, a staff member arrived within minutes. The pool/hot-tub was fantastic. The historic tour was informative & engaging. EV-charging in parkade was great!
Zero regrets with staying at the Banff Springs. We had a hard time deciding between this one and the Lake Louise location since we were going for our first time to the area.

Never stayed.
All the 3 pools were clean and not overly chlorinated. The main pool was warm and a nice size. The hot tub was a good size. There was a separate warm tub. The hotel is quiet. Well built. Easy check in. Nice fireplace in the front lobby.

I truly enjoyed the cleanliness of the room when I first checked in, it was nice smelling and not a bad layout. The location on the main road into Banff was great and near two of my favorite restaurants. The pool was fantastic also.
Great customer service from the front desk. Interesting room with character and a neat spiral staircase with a loft. Would absolutely stay here again.

It was very cute and close to everything!
Absolutely a great location, beavertail, Tommys bar, Greek restaurant, McDonals open 24/7, the Bridge over river all right there. 2 nice hot tubs on roof .Bathrobes in our closet to wear. Towels in lounge room up by roof
The location in the center of Banff is excellent. The lounge on the top floor with a bartender and great views was a plus, also the two outdoor hot tubs (they were very popular, but we managed to find time when they were empty).

Location couldn't have been better for access to highway & esp for quick walk to dinner after a long day out. Walks in town to bow falls & the cave/basin were convenient & we LOVED the bike rental for longer exploration. Roam stop across street was great!
Only thing positive was the location.

Top Tips
- Purchase your Parks Canada pass online before arrival to avoid delays; a multi-day Discovery Pass often justifies the cost for stays of seven days or more. Children 17 and under enter for free. Compare pass types at the Parks Canada website.
- Book your hotel 8 to 12 weeks ahead for peak summer (July-August) and winter holiday (Dec 24-Jan 2) weekends, or 3 to 6 months in advance for festival dates like the Banff Mountain Film Festival, as room inventory is limited. Check hotel event calendars for large conferences or sports events that can also affect availability.
- Confirm hotel parking policies, including nightly rates (typically $20–$40 CAD (approx. $15–$30 USD)) and on-site availability, as street parking is scarce. Ask if electric vehicle charging is available.
- Filter for Green Key Global or similar certifications to find hotels with verified sustainability in energy, waste, and water management. Green Key Global indicates independent environmental audits - helpful for international travelers seeking eco-conscious accommodations.
- Request and confirm step-free access, door width, roll-in shower availability, and elevator location in writing for older lodges, as not all historic properties offer universal accessibility. Ask about visual alarms or TTY devices for guests with hearing needs.
- Check hotel shuttle policies for ski season and confirm service to Sunshine Village, Lake Louise, or Mt. Norquay, plus schedules and whether seats require pre-booking. Ask if accessible shuttle options are available for travelers with mobility needs.
- Follow hotel instructions on food storage in your room, often requiring bear lockers, as improper storage can lead to fines and human-wildlife conflicts. Store toiletries with food since they can attract wildlife.
- Pay in Canadian dollars (CAD) to avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fees, which can add 2–6% to your bill; use bank ATMs for CAD withdrawals. Confirm with your hotel if charges will appear in CAD or if a request is required.
- Pack layers and confirm early-morning heating controls, as temperatures can drop substantially overnight in the Rockies, with swings of 8–15 °C (14–27 °F) common even in summer. Not all hotels have air conditioning, so check summer cooling options if sensitive to heat.
- Consider staying in Canmore, 22 km (14 miles) east of Banff, for potential savings of 25–35% on average nightly rates, with free ROAM transit Route 8X offering 18–22 minute access to Banff Avenue. The journey on Route 8X features mountain views for a scenic arrival.
- Verify Wi-Fi speeds with your hotel if remote working; downtown hotels average 50–100 Mbps, while rural lodges may offer under 25 Mbps. Some hotels provide business centers or meeting rooms for added workspace and connectivity.
- Decline daily housekeeping to support local water conservation; hotels in programs like RMOW’s “Stay Green” may offer incentives such as a $5 CAD (approx. $4 USD) cafe credit. Opting out is at your discretion, and you may request service if needed.
- Tip housekeeping $5–$10 CAD (approx. $4–$7.50 USD) per stay, not per day, as a lump sum at checkout aligns with local hospitality customs for 3+ night stays. Tipping in cash is customary, and envelopes are often available at the front desk.
- Pack a HEPA-filter portable air purifier during July-August wildfire season, as Banff sees 12–18 days annually with an AQI over 100 and central AC is rare (6% of hotels). Consider N95 or better masks for outdoor use on poor air quality days.
