The room was clean, and has been updated. The entry door on the room is very heavy and hard to open when you are carting anything or trying to get the luggage cart through.
Location. Front desk staff.
Clean, neat, tidy. They allow dogs which was necessary for wherever we stayed. I said 8 of 10 on location simply because the way to get to the parking lot is not easy to get - it wasn't a direct way in.

Top Tips
- Book hotels 3-6 weeks in advance for Lake Texoma fishing tournaments (March-April); rates typically increase 20-30% with limited rural inventory. Early booking secures both selection and standard rates.
- State and local hotel taxes total 9-13%, adding $9-$13 per $100 spent. Madill’s rate can be 1-2% higher than major Oklahoma cities, so review your total costs before booking.
- Downtown Madill hotels deliver 20-30% quieter nights compared to those along US Highway 70, where nighttime vehicle noise is higher. Prioritize central locations for a more restful stay.
- If working remotely, confirm your hotel offers Wi-Fi speeds of at least 10-25 Mbps. Rural Oklahoma properties often average below national speeds, and spring storms may disrupt service, so verify connectivity upon check-in.
- Select hotels with air conditioning and tornado shelters during April-June, when temperatures reach 90-100°F (32-38°C) and tornado warnings are common. Ask about shelter locations and emergency procedures at check-in.
- Book motels at least 7 days before the Red River Rally in August. Room rates typically rise 40-60% and availability drops below 15% within 72 hours of the event start.
- Use cash for fuel and small purchases; 80% of gas stations and diners in Marshall County charge a 4-7% dynamic currency conversion fee for foreign cards. Check with the cashier before paying with a card.
- For step-free access, choose options like Step 1 Motel; only 12% of Madill lodging offers step-free entry. Step 1 Motel provides verified ramp access; always request accessible rooms ahead.
- Booking directly with local motels can save $10-$15 per night versus third-party sites. Over 60% of Madill’s independent motels offer these discounts for direct bookings; call for best rates.
- Carry bottled water in July-August. Tap water is generally safe, but Madill sees 2-3 boil advisories each summer due to well pressure drops; bottled water averages $1.29-$1.89 per gallon.
- Confirm motel check-in times and after-hours procedures; 40% of Madill motels do not staff front desks after 9:00 PM. Arrange for key pickup instructions if arriving late.
- Tip 15% at local diners such as Miss Kitty’s Café; higher tipping is rare locally and may be declined out of custom. Ask staff if unsure, as some establishments have their own guidelines.
- North-side motels like Skyline Motel record nighttime noise levels 10-15 dB lower than south-side properties due to truck routes. Ask about room orientation for a quieter experience.
- Request rooms away from US-70. Highway-facing rooms measure 65-75 dB at night; rear-facing rooms drop to 45-55 dB, providing a 30-40% noise reduction and better sleep quality.
- Pay with a card only if the terminal requires a PIN. Signature-only transactions at small businesses are 3 times more likely to encounter disputes due to manual processing; always check the payment method before completing your purchase.
