Top Tips
- Lambert-St. Louis International Airport (STL) is a 45-60 minute drive from Troy. Rideshare availability is limited outside daytime hours, and public transit does not serve this route. Book an airport transfer or secure a rental car at least 24 hours in advance if arriving after 8 PM.
- Most Troy area hotels and motels offer free surface parking for guests, with garages uncommon in this region. Airport shuttle service is rare, so confirm with your hotel or arrange alternative transportation before arrival if needed.
- Local events like the Lincoln County Fair regularly drive hotel rates and occupancy higher on summer weekends, especially June to August. Reserve your room 2-4 weeks in advance for event dates or fair season to avoid limited availability in midscale hotels.
- April to June brings increased risk of severe storms and tornadoes in eastern Missouri. For safety, request a ground-floor or interior-corridor room and review the hotel's emergency procedures during check-in.
- Many Troy hotels are 2-3 stories and may lack elevator or step-free access to upper floors. If you have mobility needs or heavy luggage, request a ground-floor or accessible room in advance and verify features like roll-in showers or visual alarms when booking.
- Local public transit does not serve most Troy hotels. Groceries, restaurants, and pharmacies are typically 5-15 minutes by car from main hotel clusters. Build in extra travel time for errands, particularly on weekends when local traffic may be heavier.
- Many midscale hotel chains offer complimentary breakfast but may lack late-night dining. If arriving after 8-9 PM, call ahead to check on onsite or nearby restaurant hours to avoid closed kitchens.
- Credit and debit cards are generally accepted at hotels, but small motels and local businesses may have limited or offline card processing. Carry a small amount of cash for purchases under $15 and confirm ATM locations on arrival, as local bank ATMs typically charge a standard $2-4 fee.
