The value. The room we stayed in wasn't cheap by any means but it was reasonably priced. When we actually entered the unit we were absolutely blown away by how big and nice this room was for the price we paid.
The women working in reception were absolutely fantastic! We also enjoyed relaxing in the chairs and watching the waves. As family members of disabled people, we were delighted to see a fully accessible main bathroom.

Top Tips
- Book Lihue hotels 90 to 120 days before arrival to access rates up to 25% lower than when booking within 30 days. Advance reservations are especially recommended during peak seasons, December to March and June to August.
- Expect a combined 10.25% Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT) and General Excise Tax (GET) on all Hawaii hotel bookings, applied even if charges appear bundled. Confirm the final total at checkout, as rates shown before taxes may appear lower.
- Choose hotels in Kalapaki Beach to benefit from 30% lower reported crime rates compared to central Lihue and enjoy being just a 5-minute drive from Lihue Airport (LIH). Walk the beach path to discover local dining within 800 meters (0.5 mi).
- Lihue hotels typically offer 50 to 100 Mbps Wi-Fi suitable for remote work. Outages during hurricane season (June to November) may last 1 to 3 hours, so confirm bandwidth and backup options with your hotel if continuous connectivity is crucial.
- Request accessible rooms with step-free access early, as only 60 to 80% of Lihue hotels meet federal standards. If traveling with mobility needs, verify the availability of ADA features such as ramp access or visual alarms at booking.
- Choosing hotels certified by the Hawaii Ecotourism Association supports water conservation efforts. These properties reduce water use by 20 to 30% during the dry season, May to October, and may feature in-room reminders about towel reuse to further minimize impact.
- Decline Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) at ATMs to avoid 2 to 5% in extra fees. Most Lihue ATMs also charge $3 to $5 USD per withdrawal, so limit ATM use by paying with major credit cards, which are widely accepted at local hotels and attractions.
- Use only reef-safe sunscreen to comply with Hawaii’s marine laws. Note that in-room air filtration is uncommon in Lihue hotels; if sensitive to allergens, request a hypoallergenic room or confirm air purifier availability during booking.
