The front desk staff as well as the breakfast staff were absolutely wonderful! Friendly and personable, hardworking - the best people. Breakfast offering was also very acceptable despite my room having a more updated kitchen.

La habitación es grande y esta too muy limpio, las sábanas olían bien .. el parking esta lleno pero caminas un poco y puedes encontrar un sitio
For a 3 star hotel, I would expect a showerhead that was not broken; it kept sliding down the pole it was attached to. And I could not close the heavy blind, it was broken as well. Which made it difficult to sleep in.
Proximity to work and other places like: Shops, restaurants...

Top Tips
- Secure up to 18% in savings by booking downtown Hartford hotels 21-30 days before arrival. Rates typically rise for last-minute stays as corporate travel often leads to midweek occupancy spikes. Schedule your reservation in advance to maximize value.
- Explore extended-stay units or furnished apartments to potentially reduce Connecticut’s 14.36% hotel tax. Stays structured as residential leases may incur lower rates (0-6.35%); ask about available agreements when booking for a week or longer.
- Choose hotels within 400 m of Union Station to enjoy a walkable location. The XL Center, CT Convention Center, and State Capitol are each under 8 minutes on foot, helping you stay close to major venues and transit.
- Request keycard access for hotel parking garages during check-in. 60% of downtown properties have secure parking, but unrequested access can lead to daily walk-up fees of $15 to $18. Confirm parking policies at the front desk to avoid extra charges.
- Save $3 to $5 per withdrawal by using ATMs inside the CT Science Center or Hartford Public Library. Municipal or cultural ATMs typically do not add surcharges, unlike independent machines found in hotels and bars.
- Confirm Wi-Fi speeds if you plan to work remotely. Business hotels in Hartford generally deliver 42-58 Mbps download, supporting video calls, while I-84 motels average just 18-26 Mbps. Request a connectivity check before check-in if stable service is critical.
- Decline Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) at hotel payment terminals, as DCC adds a 3-5% fee. Always opt to be charged in USD at checkout to avoid extra currency charges.
- Prioritize hotels that disclose HEPA air filtration during July-August, when Hartford exceeds EPA ozone limits 12-15 days per year. Filtered air may help reduce respiratory discomfort; verify filtration options before booking if you have sensitivities.
- Tip housekeeping $2 to $5 per night, leaving the gratuity daily in an envelope. Most Connecticut hotels provide these at turndown. Recognizing staff each day is standard and ensures your appreciation is received.
- Request step-free routes when booking at older downtown hotels like The Goodwin. Although generally accessible, some require traveling via service elevators to reach rooms. Confirm accessible room and route arrangements in advance.
- Stack AAA/CAA member discounts with corporate rates at chains including Marriott and Courtyard by Marriott for an added 8-12% savings over the base rate. Ask about all eligible rate programs when booking.
- Avoid event weekends near the XL Center, as rates can surge by 35-50%. Book at least 6 weeks in advance for event periods or consider properties in Windsor or East Hartford for more competitive pricing during high-demand dates.
