Staff was polite, but the room I had on the 4th floor had no air conditioning, no climate control & couldn't open the windows to vent. Parking is across the street from the hotel. Not sure what the resort fee covered. Hotel is dated. Not worth the $$$
Beautiful hotel, excellent location

Clean and great location
There are, let's say 4 Tier-levels, D through A (D being truck-stop-type Super 8's and A being St Regis/Waldorf Astoria, C being Choice Hotels and B being the Hilton Garden Spots, Embassy Suites). This is an A; probably a 7/10 at that level. Excellent!
Ease of Parking.

Old, historical hotel with pleasant, upgraded rooms and a eloquent, beautiful lobby.
It was great but the hotel is old so the insulation was not the best. My girlfriend was cold but I was fine. I did have to hear her complain an awful lot though...

The motel breakfast was delicious. It was a short distance (within walking distance) to the hot springs. There were several areas on the motel grounds for children to explore. I would highly recommend this motel for families.

Top Tips
- Book hotel accommodation in Aspen 6-12 months in advance for winter (December-March) and summer (June-August) peaks. Nightly rates often double or triple compared to April-May and October-November, and both boutique and luxury brands, such as St. Regis and The Little Nell, are most affected.
- Expect mandatory resort fees of $15 to $75 per night in Aspen, which typically cover Wi-Fi and shuttle access but are often excluded from initial price quotes. Confirm inclusions and compare the final total rates before booking, as these fees are standard across most U.S. destinations.
- Staying in Snowmass Village can save you 25-40% on accommodation compared to Aspen, with a 20-minute free RFTA bus connecting both areas. Major chains like Viceroy and Westin operate in Snowmass, making it accessible for loyalty program members and popular for families.
- Contact your Aspen hotel directly to confirm Wi-Fi speeds, which can range from 15-50 Mbps depending on property age and demand. If you require high-speed internet for remote work, ask about speed guarantees and available guest workspaces before arrival.
- Confirm if your hotel offers airport shuttle service from Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE), as taxis and rideshares are often limited and can cost $40-$60 one way. Guests with mobility needs should verify shuttle accessibility and inquire about advance bookings.
- Aspen sits above 8,000 feet in elevation. Hydrate frequently, limit alcohol intake upon arrival, and ask your hotel about oxygen canisters, which may be available for a fee to help prevent altitude sickness. Consult your healthcare provider before travel if you have known altitude sensitivity or are visiting with young children.
- Explore Aspen hotels in April, May, October, or November for 50-70% lower rates than peak months. Note that some hotel amenities or restaurants may have limited hours in the off-season.
- Check parking fees before booking, as hotel parking in Aspen costs $15 to $80 per night. Review public parking options or choose hotels on the free RFTA bus route if driving, and verify ADA parking if you require accessible options.
- Not every hotel room offers a fireplace or private balcony with mountain views. Before confirming your reservation, verify if your preferred features are guaranteed for your room type and request written confirmation for special amenities.
- If traveling with pets, confirm the hotel's pet policy and any applicable fees, which range from $15 to $150 per stay in Aspen. Some hotels may have room size or location restrictions for guests with pets, and pet amenities will vary by property.
- Book ski-in/ski-out accommodations like The Little Nell or W Aspen 9-12 months ahead of December stays. Rates typically rise 30-50% as winter approaches.
- Withdraw cash at Credit Union of the Rockies ATMs to avoid 1-3% Dynamic Currency Conversion surcharges on non-U.S. cards, which are common at hotels. Apple Pay and major credit cards are widely accepted for most hotel charges.
- Target Sunday-Thursday stays for hotel rates that are 20-30% lower, especially in Aspen's shoulder seasons (April-June and September-November). Confirm that all standard amenities are included in midweek rates, as some services may be reduced.
- Choose downtown hotels such as Hotel Aspen to reduce elevator wait times, which average 5-8 minutes compared to 15-22 minutes at ski-mountain properties in peak periods. Guests who wish to avoid elevators altogether can request ground-floor rooms.
- The St. Regis Aspen charges a flat $250 pet fee per stay, which often provides better value for guests staying multiple nights than properties that charge nightly pet fees of $15 to $150. Ask about pet amenities or extra cleaning policies.
- Combine Marriott Bonvoy points with Aspen Chamber Resort Association discounts to earn free nights faster at designated properties, such as Aspen Meadows Resort. Check terms for blackout dates and verify eligibility before booking.
- Request a hypoallergenic room at properties like The Residences at The Little Nell at least 2 months in advance, as Aspen's dry air can increase allergy issues and supplies are limited. Ask about in-room air purifiers or humidifiers when booking.
- Downtown Aspen hotels typically offer Wi-Fi speeds of 50-80 Mbps, while ski-area hotels such as Snowmass Mountain Chalet provide 15-30 Mbps, which is sufficient for video calls but not high-definition streaming. Contact the front desk to confirm that your connectivity needs can be met.
- Secure rooms for the July 4th week at least 6 months ahead, as rates often surge 40-60% closer to the date due to high demand. Many hotels have stricter cancellation or minimum stay rules during holiday periods.
- Aspen's municipal tap water is safe to drink. Skipping bottled water can save about $5 per day; consider bringing a reusable bottle, as many hotels have refill stations.
- Downtown Aspen hotels enforce quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., and noise violations can result in $300 fines. If you are concerned about noise, request a room away from high-traffic areas, especially when traveling with children.
- Rent hiking boots at local shops like Aspen Sports from about $25 per day to save luggage space. Hotel concierges can often arrange rental pick-up upon request.
- Use free Level 2 electric vehicle chargers at the Aspen Art Museum (includes 2+ hour parking), or take advantage of paid Tesla Superchargers at The Little Nell, which are complimentary for hotel guests. Book EV-compatible rooms or parking in advance during peak weeks.
- Reserve hotels at least 90 days before X Games (late January) or Wintersköl (early January), as rates typically rise 40-70% and availability falls below 20% within 60 days. Confirm cancellation and minimum stay policies for these event periods.
- Hotels within 300 meters of the Silver Queen Gondola, such as The Little Nell or Limelight, reduce base-area transit times by 15-20 minutes each way. Check if these properties offer accessible routes or ski equipment storage.
- Look for downtown rates that include city taxes to lower your final bill by 12-14%, since Aspen charges a 13.5% lodging tax and a 2.3% municipal fee. Request an itemized receipt at check-in for expense tracking.
- Sixty percent of Aspen’s historic hotels (pre-1990) lack elevators or full step-free access. Explicitly request accessible or step-free rooms during booking if needed, and consider asking for visual alarms or other accessibility aids.
- Use Alpine Bank or Wells Fargo ATMs to avoid average 4.5% foreign transaction fees and Dynamic Currency Conversion surcharges that often apply at hotel desks. Many hotels offer contactless and chip payments, which can help reduce fees.
- Request an in-room humidifier since average indoor winter humidity in Aspen hotels is just 18%, which is well below the 30-50% recommended level. For extra comfort, ask for additional water bottles or saline spray at the front desk.
- Book at least 60 days in advance if visiting for the Flashfood Festival in July, as occupancy averages 97% and room rates increase 25-35% during the event. Consider other large festival dates as well when planning.
- Decline daily linen changes at 60% of Aspen hotels to support Pitkin County sustainability programs, and you may receive a $10-$15 property credit at participants, including The Little Nell and Viceroy. Confirm the program benefits at check-in.
- Wi-Fi averages 45 Mbps in hotels built before 2000 and 110 Mbps in post-2010 properties like W Aspen. If you require remote work or large uploads, verify speed in advance and consider requesting an Ethernet cable or workspace.
- Leave a $5-$10 per night cash tip for housekeeping in a labeled envelope, as this is not included in the usual $35-$50 nightly resort fees. Resort fees typically cover amenities only, not gratuities.
- Consider Maroon Creek or West End areas for rates 20-30% lower than downtown, with a typical nightly rate of $420 versus $590. Free city shuttles to the main lifts take about 10 minutes; confirm shuttle frequency as schedules may be limited off-peak.
