This is a very nice new property. Nice staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds and good breakfast. We would highly recommend it. We were skeptical since it has no real review. We were pleasantly surprised.

The cleanliness
Easy to check in/out.
Pleasant area. Room was clean and tidy. Safe. Nearly empty, saw no other patrons the entire stay, although there were about 10 other cars parked and I did hear noise from upstairs. Other than the miserable free breakfast, nothing horribly wrong.

Top Tips
- Book at least 2-3 months in advance for summer (May-September) or key fall events, as rates at La Posada and chain hotels can double during peak periods. Compare flexible versus nonrefundable rates to secure the lowest price.
- Select a hotel within 0.5 miles of Standin' on the Corner Park for easy walking access to Route 66 landmarks, or choose hotels near I-40 exits for faster highway access if planning day trips.
- Light sleepers should request a room on an upper floor or facing away from Interstate 40 and the train line. Both Amtrak and freight trains run day and night within 0.3 miles of most hotels.
- If reliable internet is needed, verify Wi-Fi speed with the property. La Posada and major chains typically offer robust service, while smaller motels may have limited bandwidth. Confirm before arrival if planning to work remotely.
- Pack light layers year-round; Winslow’s high desert climate (4,800 ft elevation) means daytime highs can exceed 90°F in summer, with nighttime lows dropping below 55°F, even in June.
- Rent a car for excursions outside downtown, as public transit is limited. Fill your gas tank before visiting Petrified Forest National Park (37 mi east) or Meteor Crater (18 mi west), as fuel stations are sparse near these sites.
- Confirm opening hours, entry fees, and permit rules for Petrified Forest National Park and Meteor Crater before your visit. For tribal lands, ask hotel staff about access and photography regulations.
- Present a government-issued photo ID and credit/debit card at check-in. Hotels apply incidental holds ($15–$100 is typical); Winslow’s lodging and occupancy taxes exceed 10-12%. Verify the total cost before booking.
- Ask about current cleaning protocols and health recommendations. Hydration is essential due to Winslow’s altitude and dry air, and some hotels may offer complimentary bottled water at check-in.
- Show respect in Navajo and Hopi areas; request permission before photographing people or ceremonies. Support local Native-owned shops and purchase crafts directly for ethical sourcing.
- Follow standard US tipping: $1–$2 per bag for bell staff, $2–$5 per night for housekeeping. Small, locally owned motels may not offer bell service.
- Request amenities such as cribs, accessible rooms, or pet accommodations when booking. Many smaller hotels have limited ADA-accessible or family-specific services, so confirm availability in advance.
- Enjoy Winslow’s history with a stay at La Posada Hotel, known for its restored 1920s architecture, on-site dining at the Turquoise Room, and local art displays.
- Use in-room safes and park in well-lit areas to reduce risk of petty theft. While Winslow’s crime rate is low, always lock your vehicle and secure valuables.
- Major events like the Standin' on the Corner Festival (September) increase rates and limit availability, so book 2-3 months early. Summer monsoon season (July-August) often brings afternoon storms; plan outdoor activities for mornings.
- Explore Southwestern or Native-influenced cuisine at Winslow restaurants or the Turquoise Room. Smaller venues may close early or close on certain days; check hours before heading out.
- Before driving to remote sites, save local emergency contacts, Winslow’s hospital number, and your hotel’s front desk. Cell service can be limited east of town.
- Ask if a complimentary hot breakfast is included, as many chain hotels provide it. This can help families and early risers save $8–$15 per person each day.
- For older Route 66 motels, check recent guest reviews for cleanliness and upkeep. Conditions can vary; verify cancellation policies before booking.
- Downtown parking near Standin’ on the Corner is limited after 16:00. Many hotels offer free guest parking; confirm availability prior to arrival.
