Place sucked. Has weird smell. When I arrived and tried to take a shower, it wouldn¿t drain. Called for help and the guy acted like he didn¿t care. He finally called the maintenance man and he pulled so much hair out of that drain. My room was dirty.
This hotel was cheap and clean. It served our purpose, but I wouldn't call it a "nice" hotel. We just needed a place to sleep. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

Frequently Asked Questions
Top Tips
- Hotels within 0.2-1.2 miles of UAB or Protective Stadium help minimize rideshare costs and event traffic delays. Explore walkable routes for added convenience, and confirm sidewalk accessibility or lighting if arriving after dark for guest safety.
- Rates can rise by over 50% during the Magic City Classic in mid-October or November. Book 6-12 weeks in advance to secure standard rates. Consider opting for refundable bookings if your plans may change.
- Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) is a 10-20 minute drive from downtown. Many hotels offer complimentary or paid shuttle service; verify shuttle times with the hotel directly, especially for late-night arrivals.
- Downtown hotels often charge $15-30 per night for onsite parking. Municipal garages are available nearby and may offer lower hourly rates if you're not staying overnight. Confirm garage opening hours, as some restrict late access.
- Lakeview and Avondale neighborhoods offer a concentrated nightlife and dining scene 2-3 miles from downtown. Choose these areas for variety, but bring earplugs or request a higher floor for quieter stays, especially on weekends.
- Staying in Hoover's Riverchase Galleria area, 15-25 minutes by car from central Birmingham, can save on room rates and offer direct access to major shopping malls. Confirm parking and hotel shuttle availability, as transit options are limited.
- When visiting a UAB patient, refer to UAB’s official lodging list for partner hotels that may offer patient/visitor shuttles within a 2-3 mile radius. Confirm shuttle hours and accessibility needs directly with the hotel before booking.
