Tulloch Castle Hotel ‘A Bespoke Hotel’

The location, staff, and general hotel ambience were everything we hoped for

The mattress could have been a bit newer

Dinner at the restaurant was excellent and our room had an amazing view of the city.

The room didn't have A/C and it was a very warm night when we stayed. Having a fan in the room would have been nice.

It is in a nice peaceful setting. Could really get some good rest here!

The hotel could really use a lift! Sure the structure is old, but carrying a heavy suitcase up/down all those stairs was a challenge for certain!

The staff were wonderful and the room was very nice. Best feature was their AMAZING bathtub!! I could live in it. It was one of the best bathtubs I've encountered in a hotel setting. Amazing!

A beautiful Hotel that maintains the aesthetic while keeping modern comforts. Location is perfect as long as you have a car, beautiful hiking and scenic areas all over. A great choice as a luxury homebase when exploring the highlands.

Had to run the tap for a while before hot water was available for the baths and shower and the restaurant prices where silly when you could drive 2 minutes to a beautiful brunch farm with waterfront views for half the price and twice the portions.

Very quirky with tasty decor. Food was very good and as a Davidson also very interesting. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Green Lady bar was very nice and made to feel very welcome.

Heating in the room was not great although we were given a booster radiator. TV reception was also erratic at times.

Matress a bit tired

Unique castle with all the features and we had a four poster bedroom. The staff were lovely and friendly. Comfortable bed, clean, and good quality Elemis products. Good shower.

Unfortunately there were a few issues for us. Chipped cups in the room which I took down to get replaced. We had the half board booking and the chips at dinner came out luke warm which I sent back for hot ones. Breakfast didn’t come out fully as ordered but by then I couldn’t be bothered to say anything as the worst thing for us was the room we were in - number 7 - was by a noisy pump/unit and we discovered it happened every time the water/shower was turned on and toilet flushed. Not just from our bathroom but other rooms too. I did call the receptionist up to hear it but we hadn’t realised it was a water pump causing the noise and it didn’t happen when he was in the room. It did lessen as people went to bed and stopped using the water, so we had a relatively quiet night until the first one got up in the morning when it started again. I was really excited to finally stay a castle - a real treat for us. I’m really not a hard to please person but because of the high price of this stay I guess I had high expectations and I felt quite let down by our stay there.

It was a lovely hotel and the staff were very friendly. The hotel was warm and considering we were there in January was a great relief.

Lovely hotel for a stopover. Paul was very helpful and knowledgeable about the history of the castle, which was refreshing. Nice bar and staff with good pub grub, with an option for fine dining. Very dog-friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay again if in the area. The room was spacious and clean, keeping the castle feel with a four-poster bed, along with a good bathroom and walk-out balcony.

I had an amazing stay at Tulloch Castle! The staff were so nice, the room was huge and clean! Their soaps are really nice and they have a towel warmer! I didn't realize until the next day, but I stayed in the most haunted room (8). It was very neat and cozy. I can't wait to stay there again!

Lovely building, warm and inviting

The food! Breakfast and dinner really really lets the place down! Small portions, lukewarm but overcooked! Restaurant was shut, had to eat all meals , including breakfast, in the bar!Our bedroom was a bit small too (and a bit chilly despite 2 extra heaters being in the room when we arrived) despite paying more for our room than my daughter paid for hers, she had a much more spacious and warmer room than ours.

It’s a beautiful place to stay , the first night we stay in the room on the top floor with great views . The staff were very helpful and friendly. I will recommend the place to anyone.

We spent our first night in apartment 15. It was a lovely room, but unfortunately the damp smell was unbearable. In the morning, I went to reception and was offered another room downstairs and welcomed. Thank you for that.Food, you need to work on it, it's not appropriate to have bad food in such a place.

The reception area was cute, the staff was nice. That's about all that's nice about Tulloch.

When we arrived, the room we were given had a broken lock - you couldn't lock the room from the outside. Our room was on the top floor, so that require lots of trekking up and down stairs, to an old musty room with a broken lock. We finally got our room changed to a room which had 2 radiators which you couldn't control. We stayed in Tulloch in the middle of winter, and we had the window open and the fan running and it was still too hot. The pictures on booking.com look way better than the actual hotel. Our friend stayed in a single room, and her room was way too cold, and had to ask for a radiator. There are cuter hotel close by.

The reception area was the highlight. Didn’t like much else.

The toilet wouldn’t flush properly, despite my efforts. My view faced the gas tanks in the back and a patio area. Didn’t feel private. Dinner was comically bad. The appetizer was a sad grocery store pastry shell filled with cooked beans and slivers of asparagus(not baked, as I would expect a “tart” to be), then topped with poached egg and the blandest hollandaise sauce I’ve ever tasted. The main was braised beef - one slice was primarily fat and the other slice was overcooked (there were two sliced only). Felt incredibly overpriced for what it was. The hotel is pretty isolated, and the only think walkable is a convenience store down the hill. Overall, I was really looking forward to this but it felt like a tourist trap.

Lovely building

Very thin wall, we could hear a normal conversation through the wall, the food was terrible. Staff was hard to find for check-in and check out. No bell or anything, we had to go and get them or come back later for the checkin

Dinner in green lady resturant was sun standard, very expensive for the type of quality of food and a service charge of 10% without asking us , chips were like oven chips unfortunately and fish wasn't very white, starter used garlic bread with tomatos and olive oill bit standard for price

The reception area with the open fire and comfy chairs around it was wonderful as was the beautiful Christmas tree.

Our room was very small, the radiator didn’t work ( there was an electric one we had to use) and the windows need repair. The whole room needs redecorating… sadly it let the beautiful castle down.

Had a real castle feel. Not a big castle, but a real one. Was clan owned at one time. Staff gave us complimentary room upgrade which made a huge difference. Room was spacious and nice. Surrounding sheep farms and rural countryside was a bonus. In house bar was lovely. (Didn't dine in).

Nothing we didn't like really.
