Central location, friendly staff, older rooms but clean and comfortable.

the smell of the room.no fault of their own but current renovations going on and the room being in an awkward location of the hotel.

Location is central to the town. Breakfast was nice, it was a help yourself buffet breakfast. All the usuals, cereal, fruit, yoghurt and a fried breakfast. Asked for vegetarian sausage and they happily supplied this to me freshly cooked. Ate dinner in the restaurant which was really nice, pleased with the prices as were reasonable.

Toilet in bedroom was going down slowly and this progressively got worse over night until it became fully blocked. We advised them in the morning and they did supply us with a key to use the bathroom of another room so to be fair they were helpful in this matter. All being well they sorted the toilet before the next guests.

My granddaughter loved the history of the haunted room and was really intrigued by that.

It was a comfortable stay but too hot during the night and had to open the windows wide to cool the room down.

This was my second stay at Whately Hall and I was very well looked after. I arrived early and my room was not ready but by the time I had had a spot of lunch in the bar the excellent Dan at reception was able to sign me in. My room was comfortable in the slightly creaky way of these older hotel buildings - full of character but very comfortable. There was copious hot water and decent pressure in the shower. The bed was comfortable and I slept very well. I was very well looked after by Kiren in the bar and had a good supper and couple of glasses of wine. I thought it was all pretty good value. There is a large screen showing Sky Sport in the bar and an excellent darts room. There is masses of off-road, secure parking.

The hotel is great but Banbury is quite a lively place so perhaps this is not the place if you are seeking peace and quiet. A few locals in the bar seemed blissfully unaware that there were other people present. They were perfectly charming but quite loud!

No heating in room , not clean , big gap under the bedroom door doesn’t apply with fire regs , cold water was warm need testing for legionnaires diseased I think !!!

The hotel is an historic building, and it shows on some fixture and fittings. All that sad, modernisation works are on going (or they were when I was there). The works do not affect the stay, It's a nice place in the centre of town, staff were friendly and helpful.

The parking lot, the spaces could not be smaller and tighter. I did not use their parking lot! There is free overnight parking at the front of the hotel from 1800 - 0800 hrs (I think), I used this. You need to pay outside these hours. It is council parking, but it was safe and no damage to my car at all. I stayed once a week for several weeks.

Location for access to the city centre.

Entrance to the parking is ghastly, one has to drive thru a tunnel with clearance one foot from cement walls, radar alarms continually. I forgot my Adaptor for my IPhone in the electrical outlet, I called back in town hours and was told it was not there when they and the new occupants checked, guess who could have stolen it..

There was only hot water or very warm water coming from the bath room tap. NO COLD WATER. The plug in the bathroom sink was constantly stuck down so we couldn’t use it.

location is good. Did not have meals because the dining room does not have a cosy feel.

When I got home I received a parking charge, so my car registration number had not been passed on to the parking company used. I sent it to the manager to sort out.

Renovation works were noisy all night long, the front hall wasn't accessible because there was no carpet, the room was very far from the entrance and up a flight of stairs without an elevator.
