Everything was bad. First of all the location was in farm, wasn't looking like a hotel. They gavw disabled room which was not at all comfortable. Things were looking disorganised. Toilet was so uncomfortable as it was for disabled person not for normal

Very unorganised. Staff non existent. Food lukewarm. Had to chase a member of staff for tea and coffee. Plates and cutlery not up to standard.

The hotel is in need of an update in all areas. To many stairs and corridors. Food and drink very expensive. We were a party of 10 and paid clise to £500 for a dinner with 2 kids as part of our party. We had several complaints with regard to the food and the cleanliness of the glasses and cutlery but this was all ignored

It was clean and comfortable

It was dated, in need of updating and modernised. The room we had was big but the carpet and bathroom were shabby. TV in the room was ridiculously small for size of room. Restaurant was ridiculously overpriced for the standard of food and service. Simple things like lack of training for staff and no ice buckets with Prosecco. Glasses on table were well used and most of them were dirty when brought to table. Restaurant and cocktail bar lacked any real atmosphere.

Upgraded to the deluxe room , super comfy , got breakfast delivered in bed for only £8 which was a bargain, very clean, spa facilities great too.

The staff....the grounds and the breakfast

The main building and grounds are beautiful. The staff are impeccable and so very welcoming. The entrance, bar and restaurant are lovely and the breakfast was delicious. The only downside was the rooms. They were a little dirty and very tired. The single mattress has seen better days and were extremely uncomfortable. The carpets in the room used were dirty and stained and this is disappointing as the rest of the hotel was great

Crutherland House is a bit like that loveable great Aunt who is full of character and quirks but as she ages, she cares less about her social graces and seems to rely on an ever thickening layer of foundation to mask her wear and tear. We stay here occasionally when visiting family nearby but only when we can't book our preferred digs. The bed was very comfy and the room was large enough to rattle around in. Staff are mostly very friendly and attentive, especially in the restaurant, and the grounds are often immaculate. Breakfast was very good both days, However the basic facilities are tired now and in desperate need of investment. Especially at the cost being charged

Sadly there was much that will put us off from coming back. The shower control with it's micro-level of adjustment between freezing cold and steam, made it challenging to set the temperature each morning; The shower screen leaked and flooded bathroom floor whenever we did get the temperature right; The taps in the wash basin had to be turned 2 or 3 times to get a trickle out of them; The toilet took an age to flush; The blackout curtain were a treat but the liners were ripped and hanging in shreds; Housekeeping did a decent job of tidying up but spoiled it by not restocking the consumable (tea, sugar and milk) meaning we had to go hunting for some. The cost of the room for the two nights was excessive given all of the above and much better value can be had elsewhere in the area.

The location was good and the spa was a highlight. There was parking available, and while nothing exceptional, the food was generally acceptable.

I found this hotel very expensive and trying hard to be something it simply isn’t. Check-in was slow and disorganised, and it was immediately obvious the property has seen better days. Tatty carpets, dated dusty corridors, and a general lack of upkeep.The room layout was strange, with beds awkwardly squeezed together - no king instead two singles made up as one which is not comfortable to sleep on. Windows that wouldn’t latch properly, and even the bathroom floor appeared unclean on arrival. Basic details were missing too, such as no phone in the room and the front desk being closed overnight.Food and drink were extremely overpriced for the level of service provided. Dinner service was consistently slow, inattentive, and chaotic, with long waits, mistakes (including incorrect wine), and staff disappearing before requests could be met. Breakfast was similarly understaffed, with dirty tables and guests left waiting to seat themselves.On departure, reception was again unmanned, leaving no opportunity to raise concerns.Overall, disappointing value for money and not a hotel I would return to.

Lovely cosy room, the radiator didn't work initially but the girl on reception came up to fix it. So I was warm!The pool was great.

Frequent noise disturbance (slamming doors) from other residents/hotel rooms.I was only there for 2 nights and must have counted very loud slammed hotel room doors at least 300 times.That's not the hotel's fault, that's just down to a lack of manners on the part of other hotel residents.A few notices placed on hotel walls/in hotel rooms to the effect that it would be appreciated if other residents would respect other residents by keeping the noise down/controlling their children/refraining from slamming hotel doors shut wouldn't go amiss.

The staff were very pleasant and made a big fuss over our dog. Unfortunately the rooms are very dated and could do with a very up2 date moderation. The sheets didnt fit the bed(I forgot take a picture) the shower screen didnt stop the water from landing on the floor. The tiles behind the taps need some attention to them. The electrics need updated its way behind its times. No hotels have a tv on a table, one of the chairs was like the back legs were about to fall off. Now days you get c type and USB style sockets which this hotel seems to be in the dark ages. Grounds are lovely but again needs work done this could be a spectacular hotel to have weddings etc in with matching Grounds. We stayed 2 nights and I tried to get a bit of a late deal for a 3rd which would have turned in to 4 nights as I've no heating or hot water in my house due to a boiler issue. But unfortunately there was nothing better than £101 from the front desk. But in all as I said staff were pleasant and kind

All facilities finished early no room for dinner, there was no prior warning to booking this

The room was very nice and breakfast and dinner were very good and great value.

I couldn't get onto the wifi. Good wifi and FREE wifi really doesn't cost that much to set up and offer to guests as all other good hotels know!

The staff make the stay worth it. Friendly, professional and helpful. Nathaniel night shift was amazing.

The prices are ridiculous for drink. There is no need to rip your customers off with the pricing. If we returned we certainly wouldn’t be purchasing any drinks.

The food in the restaurant was amazing. Breakfast was very good too. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is fine but a little shabby. Dirty marks on the walls in the room, TV remote held together with electrical tape, dining chair broken and had to be swapped, carpet in restaurant stained.

Where can I start all staff was amazing on arrival we were met with Victor and jackie at the desk they were welcoming and a credit to your hotel and very accommodating to all our needs. The birthday plate was a the perfect idea and when delivered by two younger female staff my wife's face lit up with joy

Nothing everything was great

Clean. Staff lovely minus the restaurant manager. She was seen moaning at waiters/waitress’. Thanks for putting cake and message in room for partners birthday

Given average rating was pleasantly surprised. Big sprawling place, did have a little difficulty in finding reception but good welcome, good food & breakfast was exceptional. Generous room with very good bath & shower, everything in good order.

Lovely open grounds, lovely homely warm building. Cosy clean and great helpful staff.

Overall very spacious family room. Good price. Nice pool and saunas. Kettle and coffees tea in the room, even an iron.

A bit mouldy bath tiles no robes in the room.
