It is opposite the Colombi Park and picturesque Colombi Castle. The elegant rooms at the family-run Colombi Hotel are air conditioned, and feature a flat-screen TV and free wired internet. High-quality toiletries, bathrobes and slippers are provided in the bathrooms. Gourmet cuisine is served in the fine dining restaurant Zirbelstube and Falkenstube. Black Forest cuisine is served in Hans Thoma Stube. Guests can relax in the Colombi Bar, which is also a smoker's lounge. Just a 5-minute walk takes you to Freiburg Main Station, the pedestrian zone and the car-free city center. Basel Airport can be reached in 45 minutes by car.

The spa/steam room amenities, the ornate decor in hotel lobby and the Christmas cheer.

Cons -

Smoking bar/bed. Gentleman, word of advice, NOONE visitng from US will tolerate a smoking bar! Entire lobby stunk like an ash try, which is a shame, considering how beautiful the bar area is. The bed/pillows, wow. Why is a Europe mattress not one piece?
