Hotel Continental

Positioning very good. We were fortunate to have a parking space on the hotel car park which made everything much easier with having 2 dogs with us. Ground floor accommodation was good too.

Some sound proofing would create a quieter atmosphere in rooms

Small but cozy room. Good decor throughout hotel. Lovely lounge and dining area. Good breakfast. Great location. Staff were lovely, smiley and helpful. Will come again

Apprehension of not having a parking space throughout stay

Superb location. Lovely views from our room. The bar and dining area was really spacious with loads of natural light. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was delicious and the service good.

Disappointed with breakfast. We were offered coffee or tea on when we checked in for breakfast but no offer of a top up. Breakfast was a buffet and was hot and freshly cooked but would have been so much tastier with more seasoning.Coffee bags or coffee machine in room would have been lovely…

Lovely old hotel on the edge of town with lots of character and quiet elegance; a maze of corridors and little staircases leading to quirky rooms with individual dimensions and layouts, tongue-and-groove panelled to dado height, all recently refurbished - lots of clean white paintwork offsetting beautiful neutrals on the panelling and the walls above. Our room -No 23 -was very small, perhaps 3mx3m, plus walkway with inbuilt closet between bedroom and bathroom, but it was really nicely designed and decorated, impeccably clean, and very reasonably priced. We even had a side-sea-view, which we hadn’t expected. The bed was comfortable with crisp white sheets and fluffy white towels. I had requested a room with a bathtub; I was not disappointed and there was plenty of hot water. Breakfast was served buffet-style but with an attendant chef preparing hot items to order. Lots of nice pastries (great croissants!) and everything else you’d expect for an enjoyable breakfast. The dining room is lovely too - spacious and airy, with large picture Windows framing the ocean. Staff were pleasant and helpful. We would really recommended this gem of a hotel. Our only caveat would be that parking is very limited - I think there are maybe 12 spaces for the 24-room hotel. We were lucky enough to find the last space on each of the two occasions we needed to park, but we were staying on Sunday evening in February, and the situation may be very different in high season.

Nothing, except the parking situation isn’t ideal - and part of the 10-minute walk into town is rather boring!

Warm friendly welcome. Light, airy accommodation on the seafront and within walking distance to all amenities along. Lovely bar and dining area where a delicious breakfast was served.

Small double room was so small that we had nowhere to put our bags - a folding luggage stand would have been welcome. Biscuits and hot chocolate were one pack between two people which was insufficient.

Comfy bed, breakfast delicious and kept me going until suppertime, place fresh and nicely decorated.

The stairs - which I knew about beforehand... and also the stairs down from the 1st floor to reception weren't signed so I was blundering about trying to NOT go down into the street via the Fire exit as I had slippers on!!

Beds not the most comfy. Long walk with stairs to get to the room as it is a very twisty added-to building.

Room a bit small. Good bathroom, but shower tray slippy for older people, and bathmat a bit hidden in a cupboard. Man on reception pretty offhand and unhelpful when booking in, very reluctant to help my husband who uses sticks to carry his bag. And when we asked for an extra blanket later (which should be standard in a room anyway) acted like we were being ridiculous and then ignored that, no blanket turned up

The view and decor were lovely. Staff friendly and helpful Vegan sausage at breakfast.

Bed was creaky. No vegan butter for toast . Would have been nice to have at least one vegan pastry and or biscuit option ( we did let hotel know in advance that we are vegan)
