Malmaison Dundee

Good location

Heating didn’t work in our room, was provided a heater or a room move though. Food was available little disappointing as Malmaison normally have great food

This is our second stay this month.We loved the friendly staff and excellent restaurant.

The bed was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful, all of them. The staff made the whole experience better.

The floor was squeaky. What do you expect from a very old building? That was the worst of it.

The room exceeded expectations:• The bathroom had plenty of room and the showers were amazing. The bath could have been bigger, but that was the only flaw.• The bed was huge and very comfortable, it was very difficult to leave it in the morning.• The side room was a good spacious area to relax at night with a few drinks.

• The side room has Chromecast but the bedroom didn't unfortunately.• The light options were limited as some switches were only there for aesthetics.

The staff were wonderful, friendly & super helpful, the location was perfect and great value for money!

Breakfast was a bit cold but it was nice just could be a wee bit warmer!

We stayed on Christmas night. It was very lovely although disappointed that the bar closed at 10pm.

Location / Public areas decked out in lovely Christmas lighting for the festive period / Staff professional and friendly./ Bed very comfortable.Cooked breakfast good quaily but there could have been more on offer for the continental breakfast , eg no cheeses / cold cuts , pastries advertised but only consisted of croissants and pan a chocolate , no danish pastries etc.

Hallways a bit shabby / Wood surroundings chipped / scuff marks on walls , painting on walls in need of touching up , need of some TLCThe weather during my one night stay was colddddddd in Dundeee and my room 510 the heating did not work , after speaking to reception was advised they could over ride my room tempreture gauge , 20 min later still no heating in room . Was given a small fan heater to heat the whole room , it did not heat the room / bathroom !!!!!! The bathroom sink was partially blocked causing the water to slowly drain awayI requested a late check out and the reception gave me one with no issue and no mention of an additiinal cost but upon checking out GBP15.00 was added to my bill for the late check out , I argued this point and had the GBP15.00 was removed from m the bill

We were offered an upgrade to a suite at a great price, the suite was really spacious and well kept

We have stayed at the Malmaison few times now and always have a great time. We were treated to a room upgrade and free drink which was very kind. The reception staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We will choose to stay here again.

The room was great, but the carpet could have been more clean. Otherwise, I had no issues.Breakfast was enjoyable. I think the waiter took way too long to take my order, but seemed to acknowledge other guests very quickly. I had to call him over. Same at the bar, the servers were friendly, but also took a while to serve me, while others seemed to be greeted immediately. I sat at a table right in front of the bar, and 2 servers were working, it took more than 15 minutes before one came to ask if I wanted to order. As if a person comes to their hotel bar, late at night, to just sit.... The reception staff were great, offering tour suggestions and advice and even checking in on how things went later on.

This hotel is very convenient if you are arriving by train, as it's just across the street from the station. It's beautifully decorated, and we thought the breakfast was wonderful. The room was huge, and the bathroom was also spacious.

There was a very noisy nightclub across the street that kept us up on Friday night. If you are bothered by noise, maybe request a room on the other side of the hotel.

Location is brilliant being right in the center

To start with the staff weren’t very friendly/welcoming, we dropped our bags off before check in and had to write our own tags as the receptionist just handing the tags to us, then onto the room. The bathroom you could see hairs left in the shower and the bath had stains in it. The phone in the room wasn’t working so room service wasn’t an option which is very disappointing, the room overall could be doing with a freshen up and for a suite and the price I wouldn’t say the standard of the room is align with how it’s priced and the service we received

I thought the bed was very comfortable, though my wife didn't agree, and the room overall was perfect for our stay. The shower was powerful and hot, while the dinner in the restaurant was very good indeed. The check in staff were friendly and helpful, as were the restaurant staff, and the location was perfect for our visit to Dundee Rep and the V and A.

Pity that there is no parking, not even a facility somewhere nearby, and also a shame that there was no bottled water in the room (although most mid-range hotels seem to have given up on that these days).

Grand old building. Comfortable room with great views over the Tay. Easy to walk to city centre. Art trails, street sculptures. V and A. Discovery. All very close by. Staff all very friendly and welcoming.

No well lit mirrors in room for make up. Even in bathroom. My fish at the gala dinner was a bit dry. Difficult when catering for a large number

Friendly staff, central location

Really uncomfortable bed - pillows were like tissue paper and even using spare one in wardrobe for had no sleep all night as I need firm raised pillowsAlso breakfast prices were ridiculous- 25 for a breakfast !!!

Room and bathroom decor feel high end, including bed and linens. Staff are very friendly. The historic building itself is stunning, especially the main staircase with its "eye" window at the top!

Climate control / thermostat in room was a bit tricky to use, and the cooling vent was directed right at the bed so temperatures (too cold / warm) disrupted sleep a bit. Creaky floors made it sound like someone was in your room, at times when someone would walk by in the hall or upstairs - a bit spooky, but part of being at an older hotel. At the bar on main floor, the server was kind and generous but service was slow. The soup was delicious but the bread was stale. The bar decor felt bleak because of the too-bright glaring track lighting; just dim those and add ambient table lamps to make the place feel more relaxing.

There for a week- No housekeeping showed and when they did - after requesting, they did the minimum (replaced towels/made bed)Breakfasts were understaffed and hotel prioritized the sports team there all week - guests had to wait an hour before being served in more than occasion.

The staff was especially helpful, finding me a small mirror that I needed and helping me to the train station since I have some mobility issues. They made my stay.

More vegetarian options.

Right at the train station and in the middle of everything. Great value and beautiful facilities.

All good. Drinks are a bit high in the bar, but delicious.

Decor, food, staff nice, great view from room, room clean.

The bed - can't remember last time I slept well in a hotel bed where the mattress didn't make slope in to the middle of the bed, can the mattress be firmer and flatter please!
