This elegant 17th-century country house hotel in Winchester stands in 63 acres of beautiful Hampshire parkland. As you sweep into the courtyard, delicate archways and loggias frame the picture perfect entrance and a small amble reveals a beautiful 12th century chapel ruin. Lainston House features 50 elegant bedrooms, The Avenue Restaurant and Wellhouse Restaurant, a well equipped gym, 2 tennis courts, WiFi throughout the hotel and even its own ducks. The individually styled and designed bedrooms with attached bathroom at Lainston House are full of character, some rooms featuring an elegant four-poster bed or roll-top bath. All are fully equipped with spa toiletries, tea/coffee facilities and amazing extras like the pillow menu. The award-winning 3 AA Rosette Avenue Restaurant serves a modern British menu of local, seasonal produce, with fresh herbs and vegetables from the kitchen garden. Afternoon tea is available, along with al fresco dining on the Terrace, while The Cedar Bar has an impressive cocktail list. Located near the historic Winchester, Southampton Docks and villages of Overton and Laverstoke, there’s plenty to see and do in the local area as well.

Pros +
- Beautiful hotel in the middle of the Hampshire countryside, very friendly staff, big rooms and overall a fantastic stay.
- I booked this room for my wife's 65th birthday. My wife was not well and could not make it up to the room we had originally booked (on the first floor). The staff matched the room quality with a ground floor room and provided assistance (wheel chair) to allow her to get too from the Avenue restaurant. The taster menu from Tom was exceptional and the staff made up for the changes in booking we had to make. Thank you to everyone, you saved the day.
- Loved the property - however, the room we stayed in was very old. Hairdryer didn't work, jacuzzi bath was broken and furnishings were very tired. The restaurant off site was without any character and very much like sitting in a village hall. It still has a great presence - I just wish we were put in a better room - especially since they were nearly empty.
