It was awful from start to finish. I had to go to the downstairs of the brownstone and was there for a while trying to get in, and I was watched by two of the people working at the hotel instead of being helped. A double room by definition is two double beds - not one. The fridge and coffeemaker were filthy and there was no soap in the shower. When I first called for soap, I was told to call someone else. When I took a shower the next morning, a picture frame came completely off the wall and fell onto the floor. It was the first time I had to take out and separate my own garbage at a hotel. At 11:30, I received a knock on the door from the rude concierge saying that we had to check out before noon - the scheduled check out time. When we left our bags downstairs, I asked the concierge if it was okay if we returned at 5:45 for our bags. He reluctantly agreed but asked us to come back before if possible. We came back at 5:45 for our bags and I found out when I returned home that he had called several times and said that the hotel service closed at 4:30 and that we had to come back for our bags. It was also the first time that I had encountered a hotel that required you to cancel 3 months in advance to receive a full refund. I have stayed in multiple hotels all over the U.S. and internationally and this was by far the worst ever. Do not stay here! Additionally, they advertise serving breakfast on their website " as of December 2013" but there was no breakfast - just an unfriendly little bed.

Nice place. I would stay again if I need to travel to New York.
