Very clean, friendly staff, food was excellent

The grounds of the hotel were very beautiful and tranquil. The view of the ocean From our room was fabulous. The pool was nice with an ample amount of pool lounge chairs. Many of the staff members were helpful.

The water was rough and choppy the majority of the time due to the position of the hotel on Galley Bay. There were several days in which we were unable to go in the ocean (red flag). The food was very basic with a limited amount of options.

Everything. Customer service terrible. Room outdated. Grounds poorly kept. Pool old and dirty. Food below average. Only one Restaurant available. Insects and ants everywhere including around food area, pool and outside sitting area, bitten!

Beautiful grounds and beach . Our room- a Premium beachfront with balcony was a lovely! We ate at the resort for most meals and aside from one appetizer, one night at the SeaGrape, we really enjoyed the food, which was good b/c I have a very picky boyfriend. The Gauguin for any meal is fabulous - we tried breakfast , lunch , and dinner - and at night listening to ocean waves with dinner is sublime. So if you visit, definitely eat there.

There was nothing we did not like - it was great ! We even visited the farm and got a mango to take back to the restaurant and asked them to slice it up for us with our breakfast. The property is a bit expansive so if you like to walk you’ll be super happy. If not, they offer rides from the Porter to wherever it is you’d like to go. We had no complaints. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and we truly enjoyed ourselves.

The location is absolutely stunning. The ocean water displays three different shades of blue that continue to amaze you every time you look. We stayed in one of the beachfront rooms, which was fantastic—great air conditioning, a ceiling fan, and quite literally the most breathtaking view I’ve ever seen. Being steps away from the sand made it incredibly special. I truly found the peace, quiet, and views I was looking for.

Needs Improvement:There are a few things that unfortunately impacted our overall experience:•Dress Code Surprise: We booked through Booking.com, where there was no mention of a dress code. To our surprise, long pants and closed shoes were required to dine at a beachfront restaurant in over 30°C weather—which felt absurd. We had to spend over $100 at the on-site boutique just to be allowed to eat dinner. The rule feels outdated and unreasonable.•Dining Experience: The resort has three restaurants, two of which require reservations—even when many tables sit empty. The menus are repetitive and very limited. It’s hard to believe you can’t even get something simple like a portion of fries or a slice of bread in the morning.•Service and Maintenance: While some staff were friendly and helpful, others gave the impression they were doing you a favor. Pool towels weren’t consistently available, and no one seemed to clean up used glasses or trash from around the pool and beach. Ducks swimming in the pool were also a concern from a hygiene standpoint.•Mosquitoes: We understand we’re in nature, but mosquitoes constantly landing on us and our food was both disgusting and frustrating.•Coconut Water Service: I was told I could request fresh coconut water, but after the first day, no one followed through—even when I ordered in advance and followed up the same day.•Overall Structure: The property feels more like a rustic hotel than a true resort. If you’re expecting something on par with Cancun, Punta Cana, Aruba, or Tulum, you’ll likely be disappointed.Bottom Line:The beautiful location and views were exactly what I was looking for, but the dining restrictions and outdated dress code policies were dealbreakers. Considering the price we paid per night, the experience didn’t meet expectations. Sadly, I wouldn’t return.

We love Galley Bay. We are repeat customers.

Bar staff are efficient doing the job, but a smile would go a long way. Some of them never smile or greet the customers approaching the bar. They tend to look quite miserable. They should be trained on customer service!!

Birds building nests above your head, walking around on tables, cereal Service etc. saw them landing on edge of customers water glasses and drinking…..not good!

We checked out after one night as didn’t like anything about it.

This resort has a ridiculously strict “dress code” which is not made clear when booking on this site.Long trousers for men in all three restaurants when the temperature is 28 degrees! On our first morning we walked up the beach for breakfast enjoying walking through the sea and sand only to be told we couldn’t be served a cup of tea as we weren’t wearing shoes. Our table was right by the sand and the restaurant was empty by then. We were told in a very unfriendly manner to walk back to our room (15 mins) to get shoes by which time breakfast would have been over. No room service. Check in was unbelievably tedious. They wanted us to provide booking confirmation even though they had sent it to us and our room was already allocated to us, our return flight ticket which seemed completely unnecessary and transpires they want it on file in case we wanted to do duty free shopping at the resort which we didn’t. We were told they have three restaurants. One was fully booked, the other had a supplement if $50 to eat in which is odd given it’s a fully inclusive resort. We were then informed that if we wanted to eat in any of the restaurants my husband had to wear long trousers and a shirt with collar. I’m all for smart casual and would consider myself a very discerning traveller but this policy is over the top and outdated. To have all three restaurants requiring this is too much. They should make this absolutely clear before accepting a booking and prepayment. I would not have booked had I known this. I requested a meeting with the manager and told him we wanted to leave and be refunded for the two remaining days of our booking. He appreciated the problem and in particular that the dress code was not clear on booking.com site. To his credit he agreed to refund the remaining days.

Great location. Lovely beach. Clean room and resort buildings. Ismay was best food, by far.

Chairs too deep, front to back. No cushions - very uncomfortable. Beach beds also uncomfortable. Bike saddles wrong height - impossible to adjust due to rust. Table tennis table and sandy floor totally unsuitable. A pity. Night entertainment very sedate. Music uninspiring..

The views of the beach, the beach itself, the room, the coffee shop, the pool, and especially the little turtle sanctuary were incredible. The most impressive part to me was the food. Dinner felt as if we were fine dining with 4 - 5 star chef quality food. The other wonderful part of the stay was the customer service-everyone was so nice, friendly, and accommodating. We will be back!

We didn't like the mosquitoes and flies but we also know that there is not much the hotel can do about it. As a matter of fact, to help, they spray for mosquitoes twice a week. Two improvements would be to have more premium choices at the bar (there were some) and to have the Rum Shack and Gaugin restaurant open more often.

Beach front room, beautiful view! Rooms were nice and spacious, facilities were good too.

The staff at Galley Bay were very pleasant and friendly. The environment was clean and food was good esp at the Gauguin restaurant.

Not much to do in the surrounding areas.

This is a superb resort, no question. Beautifully manicured grounds, fantastic beach location, superb accommodation and facilities. Calm and exclusive. Staff absolutely wonderful.

The only thing that lets the resort down is the Gaugin restaurant, which serves lunch and dinner. Unquestionably a superb location for an evening meal, but food was of variable quality. Often rather bland due to lack of seasoning. Starters often very small. We had to send our meal back one evening, as several items on the plate were cold. The wines were also very expensive, limited choice and simply not worth the money. We purchased a bottle of US pinot noir costing $90, which in an on-line search turned out to be a $15 very average bottle of wine. That said, the house wine is not bad, unlimited and inclusive, although if you are there for more than a few days it can get rather repetitive.

All the staff. Location. The calm atmosphere. The management willingness to accommodate any requests.

absolutely immaculate grounds! peaceful relaxing ambiance and the food was incredible! staff is super friendly, bar staff is always on top of drinks. dinners were romantic and the food truly was delicious. I highly recommend Galley Bay resort! we never had to ask for anything, there were fresh towels daily, wine and beer left for us in our room daily, beach chairs and umbrellas were set up for us everyday. the pool and grounds are so clean and pristine. we had an amazing honeymoon thanks to Galley Bay!

not a single complaint! they didn’t have any domestic US beer but other than that no complaints!

Beautiful surroundings, friendly staff, lovely room with a view. I want to go back!

a little too quiet; needed music.

The location was spectacular! The staff was beyond wonderful-- they anticipated needs before you realized you had them! Resort provided the perfect adult playground with bikes to boats to beach toys! Biking around the property was wonderful. We were absolutely AMAZED by the herb , vegetable and fruit gardens.

My only complaint is the occasional noise from power tools and blowers as maintenance issues were addressed. On the flip side of this, everything was kept to perfection so it was easy to understand that maintenance had , by necessity, to be a daily thing. My only other complaint -- not being able to stay forever!
