Location. 5 minute walk to subway. Price was good for New York. Cleaned room daily. Cable TV, heating and air, good view of Manhattan skyline from room. One staff member was very nice and helpful when I couldn't figure out how to use the shower which was very different to use. He came to my room and showed me how to use it. I wish I knew his name so I could give him positive feedback. He was just a taller, younger guy that wore glasses.
Security guards weren't friendly at all when you said hi to them. Especially when they are just sitting there all day long on a chair staring at the window or their phone. They can at least smile and say hello to the guests. They are still working for the hotel. Making them partial employees. Coming in and out of this hotel, I didnt feel welcomed when I should have been. Front desk people were nice when you check in. But never acknowledged me when I was coming back to the hotel late at night or leaving hotel. A simple hello would be nice. They don't have to go out of their way to start a conversation with me or anything. Just be polite when they work in the "hospitality business" which is what you expect as a customer in this industry. No laundry room on the premises. Had to walk a mile to use a highly reviewed laundry room on Yelp. Lobby was dirty and looked unorganized. Didn't look professional at all. Boxes of paper and different miscalaneous stuff were laying all over the place. Had boxes all over the lobby floor and stacks of paper laying all over the counter. Was not organized at all whatsoever. Was unkempt. Wasn't clean. Their lighted sign outside of the building didn't work at night. So hotel was harder to find at night than it should be. Totally unacceptable. Took longer than expected to check in. Was waiting around for easily 15 minutes to get into my room. When it should have taken only 5 minutes. Especially when I already pre-paid online. When I received my room card. It didn't work. So I had to take the elevator back downstairs to get another one which was annoying. Front desk was apologetic but never should have happened. [Link Redacted] knob to my room was very loose. There was a good size gap between the door jamb when their shouldn't be. It looked like someone broke in or tried to at one point. Door knobs to the rooms are very old and need to be upgraded. Room decor and fixtures needs to be upgraded.
