If the only thing you care about is location, then pick this house. It is NOT a hotel. It is NOT a 4 star hotel as advertised. It's the basement of someone's house where they put as many rooms into the basement as possible.
Staffs were super kind and helpful.

Top Tips
- Book hotels 3-6 months in advance for June-August or when major events are scheduled, as these are peak periods for Charlottetown. Use rate trackers to monitor for shoulder season deals or check local festival calendars, as events like the Charlottetown Festival can drive rates higher.
- Select a downtown hotel within 700 m of Victoria Row or the Confederation Centre of the Arts for walkable access to restaurants, theater venues, and the waterfront. Guests with mobility needs can request accessible rooms near elevators at booking.
- Expect taxi rides from Charlottetown Airport (YYG) to downtown to take 10-20 minutes and cost about $27-$40 CAD (approx. $20-$30 USD); confirm fare before departure. If arriving after 22:00, ask your hotel if shuttle service is available or pre-arrange a transfer.
- Car rentals from major providers are available at Charlottetown Airport and bookable ahead of time. International visitors should carry their home country driver’s license and verify if an International Driving Permit is required to drive in Canada.
- November-April is off-season and may bring reduced hotel operations; call ahead to confirm current check-in desk hours and breakfast availability. If booking through a third party, verify cancellation terms with the hotel directly.
- A 15% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) and an additional 1% Municipal Tourism Levy (16% total) are added to hotel rates at checkout. Review your final booking confirmation for a breakdown of all taxes and fees.
- Present a valid government-issued photo ID and a credit card at check-in, as most hotels require these for room deposits and incidentals. Debit cards might not be accepted for deposits; contact your hotel ahead if you only have cash or need clarification on acceptable ID.
- Hotel Wi-Fi is often free in Charlottetown, but bandwidth varies (some offer 25 Mbps or higher). Business travelers should confirm available speed and ask if a business center or printer is onsite before booking.
- Request family amenities like cribs, connecting rooms, or kitchenettes during booking, especially for July and August when these are in high demand. Confirm availability with the front desk 24 hours before arrival.
- If bringing a pet, confirm written pet policies and potential fees with your hotel, as some limit pet rooms to certain floors or wings. Service animals are accommodated by law in Canada, but advance notice improves room assignment.
- Tipping in Charlottetown is customary: 15-20% in restaurants, $2-$3 CAD (approx. $1.50-$2 USD) per bag for bell staff, and $3-$7 CAD (approx. $2-$5 USD) per night for housekeeping. Check whether service charges are already included on restaurant bills.
- Casual dress is accepted at most hotel establishments in Charlottetown; smart-casual may be preferred in select upscale restaurants. Request a room away from elevators or on a higher floor for a quieter stay, especially if you are a light sleeper.
- Smoking and vaping are prohibited by law inside Canadian hotel buildings, and cleaning fees for violations can start at $250 CAD. Use designated outdoor areas, which are usually signposted by the hotel.
- Rideshare options like Uber and Lyft are not widely available in most of Prince Edward Island. Arrange a taxi by asking the hotel front desk at least 10-20 minutes in advance, especially during evenings or festival periods.
- Consult the concierge or front desk for help booking local events or attractions, such as lobster suppers or tickets to venues like Founders’ Hall or Cows Creamery. Staff can assist with reservations during peak times.
- Travel health insurance is highly recommended for international visitors, as provincial health coverage does not apply. Check with your hotel for the latest health advisories or COVID-19 protocols before arrival.
- Consider locally owned B&Bs or boutique hotels for a unique Prince Edward Island stay—many include regional specialties at breakfast, such as PEI mussels, farm eggs, or homemade preserves. Verify menu details with your host.
- Charlottetown’s culinary scene is known for fresh seafood, including lobster, mussels, and Malpeque oysters, as well as local potato-based dishes. Ask your hotel for a list of partner restaurants or those offering discounts for guests.
- Hotel rates in Charlottetown average $163-$408 CAD (approx. $120-$300 USD) per night, with discounts of 30-50% between November and April. For the lowest price, check non-refundable rates if your travel plans are set.
- Ask about seasonal hotel packages—such as theater or golf deals—which can offer up to 20% off combined experiences, especially in May, June, or September. Confirm available bundles at the time of booking.
