Stayed 1-night on May 28, 2023. Very nice hotel, clean and good breakfast, but, the best part was the employees!! Alyssa and Angie were beyond professional, helpful and personable. They made our stay wonderful!!
Our room was a nice size for 5 of us and I liked the sliding pocket door.
It was clean and inviting. Although surrounded by other hotels and near Walmart, it was a peaceful area. We had the pool to ourselves and it was relaxing. The staff were all polite and helpful. Our room had lots of space and was clean.

European vibe of room, staff was friendly but they don¿t have much to work with. Bad smell in the hallways. Max price of room should be in the $--- range as regular price. 2 night trip and almost just got a room 2nd night even though room was prepaid

Positives about The Watford include: wonderfully clean, very quiet, easy to access/park, beverage station always well-stocked & free for guests, comfy beds, great shower, and helpful staff. Looks brand new but is at least ten years old!

Very clean and quiet hotel. Free morning breakfast was excellent with homemade options not your everyday prepackaged items. Best bang for your buck! I will stay again when I travel alone to spend a day or two on the Yellowstone River.

Top Tips
- Book your hotel room 4-6 weeks before arrival during Williston's oil sector peak or summer events, as hotel occupancy spikes and rates can rise by 20-40%. Ask about oil industry or corporate discounts to save $15 to $40 per night. Clarify eligibility with the hotel before confirming your reservation.
- Reserve airport transfers ahead of time. Rental cars at Williston Basin International Airport (XWA) often sell out, and rideshare drivers are limited. Multiple hotels, including major chains along Highway 2, offer complimentary shuttles—confirm hours (typical window: 05:00 to 23:00), ramp or step-free access, and procedures for pickup since the airport is 9 miles from the city center. At least one taxi company provides service 24/7, and some hotels maintain round-the-clock shuttle availability.
- For stays over 5 nights, select extended-stay suites with kitchenettes, full-size fridge, and guest laundry, which are common along Williston's main highway hotels. Weekly and monthly corporate rates often save 15-25% over nightly pricing. Ask if in-suite cookware is available, and consider shopping at large grocery chains 2 to 3 miles east for affordable meal prep.
- Confirm reliable Wi-Fi and wired internet as bandwidth can vary by property edge. If you require virtual meetings, ask about minimum speeds (10 Mbps or higher is recommended), business center hours, and local cell signal strength—Verizon and AT&T generally provide the best coverage in Williston, though signal can drop near property perimeters.
- If driving a truck, trailer, or RV, check if your hotel offers on-site parking for oversized vehicles, if parking fees apply ($0-$20 per night), and whether the lot is paved or gravel. Properties along Highway 2 and business parks usually provide easier oversized access, security lighting, and clear height restrictions than downtown locations.
- Bring valid government-issued ID and a major credit card for hotel check-in, since these are required for payment and authorization. Expect hotel occupancy taxes of 10-12% on top of nightly rates. Double-check if cash or debit deposits are limited. International travelers should use a passport and ask if interpreter paging or language assistance is available at the front desk.
- Before booking, request written clarification of Williston's state and local occupancy taxes, as well as any resort or energy fees. Confirm your hotel's pet policy, including breed/weight limits and fees (typically $15 to $100 per stay up to 60 lbs). Guests with service animals should verify ADA compliance and request accessible rooms if needed.
- Prepare for North Dakota weather: winter lows can drop below 0°F (-18°C) with frequent snow, so pack layers, insulated boots, and car emergency gear like snow chains, scraper, and blankets. Summer highs reach 87°F (31°C), often with 20-30°F swings, so bring sunscreen and a light jacket for evening. Check with the front desk for daily road or weather advisories and use hotel-provided sand or salt for icy parking areas in winter.
- Restaurant hours can be limited, with many closing as early as 21:00. Hotels frequently provide complimentary breakfast or kitchen access. Ask the front desk for current lists of steakhouses or local spots—Doc Holliday’s Roadhouse and Smiling Moose Deli are popular. For late dining, request information about takeout or delivery options available within 3 miles after 21:00.
- For longer stays, ask about housekeeping frequency, as some extended-stay hotels provide service only every 3-5 days. Check if there are on-site coin-operated guest laundry machines ($2-$4 per load) or mobile laundry apps. Inquire about third-party dry-cleaning pickup if needed.
- To minimize noise from trucks or shift workers, request a quiet room on the side opposite major roads or parking lots at booking. Respect hotel quiet hours (typically 22:00 to 08:00), and consider bringing earplugs during busy local events. Ask about blackout curtains or white noise machines for light sleepers.
- Standard U.S. hotel tipping is $2 to $5 per night for housekeeping, $1 to $2 per bag for bell staff, and 15-20% for sit-down or room service meals. Bring small bills—local ATM fees for out-of-network cards average $3 to $5. If paying cashless, check if you can provide tips digitally at the front desk or through the hotel app.
- Ask the front desk about emergency procedures, confirm that 911 is the local number, and obtain the nearest urgent care address—most are within a 10-minute drive. Solo travelers should select hotels with a staffed lobby 24/7, secure lighting, and request upper-floor rooms for added safety. Request accessible rooms with visual alarms if needed.
- Inquire about early check-in and late check-out when booking. Many Williston hotels permit check-in as early as 13:00 or check-out as late as noon to fit oilfield shifts. Ask for written confirmation, and note that some hotel chains waive timing fees for elite loyalty members.
- Families often get greater savings from suite-only hotels or by booking adjoining rooms. Pool and hot tub areas usually close by 22:00 and may offer adult-only times; check ahead for details. Verify if breakfast is complimentary and which family-friendly restaurants are within 2 miles. Request cribs or rollaway beds at least 48 hours in advance to guarantee availability.
- Business and oilfield crews should verify laundry turnaround (some hotels offer 12-24 hour service), as well as any fees for parking or Wi-Fi. Ask if on-site meeting rooms are available and whether the front desk accepts package delivery for business shipments. Check if the property supports direct billing or invoicing for your employer.
- Use your hotel as a base for nearby experiences—ask about fishing at Lake Sakakawea (50 miles east), summer street festivals on Main Street, or hunting tours. The front desk typically keeps lists of current diners and steakhouses, and can recommend accessible outdoor activities or rental providers.
- Choose hotels with free cancellation up to 24-48 hours before arrival to accommodate weather or oilfield-related schedule changes. Clarify any policy exclusions, since some discounted rates are fully prepaid or nonrefundable, and request written confirmation of the cancellation window when you book.
