The room was super spacious and comfortable, and showed that it definitely lends itself to a stay longer than the one night we stayed there. The breakfast was delicious, but they ran out of waffle mix and did not replace it for breakfast customers.
Large clean rooms
Room we reserved was not available, but staff accommodated us with 2 roll-a-way beds (kids thought this was better than the original plan). Great selection for breakfast, hot shower with good water pressure, Dove bodywash & shampoo dispensers in shower

This is one a beautiful property and very near our family in Holland, Ohio. Being pet-friendly, our two little dogs were delighted with the expansive area near the hotel for their several-times-a-day wallks.

The best thing about this hotel was the customer service. The room was huge. I could've taken the bed home with me, it was so comfortable. Clean and they had Dove products for use.

Top Tips
- Reserve hotel rooms 4 to 6 weeks in advance for major Toledo events like University of Toledo games, Mud Hens, or the Glass City Marathon, as rates often rise and availability can drop by up to 35% closer to those dates. Review official event calendars to identify peak booking periods.
- Many hotels near Toledo Express Airport (TOL) provide complimentary shuttle services with typical hours from 05:00 to 23:00. Always verify shuttle schedules and confirm if free parking is included for park-and-fly, as public transit between TOL and downtown is limited.
- Plan for about 13.25% in combined state and local taxes, which will be added to nightly rates. Double-check for extra charges such as pet fees (often $15 per night) or parking before booking online.
- Read guest reviews from the past 6 to 12 months on TripAdvisor or Google Maps and focus on comments about recent cleanliness, Wi-Fi speeds (usually 10-50 Mbps in chain hotels), noise from highways or planes, and response times of hotel staff.
- Select your hotel location according to your plans: downtown hotels put you within 1.5 miles of the Toledo Museum of Art and Fifth Third Field, while properties near TOL or in Perrysburg offer direct highway access (I-75/I-280) and faster routes for early flights.
- Prepare for variable Midwest weather by packing layers; Toledo winters bring an average of 37 inches of snow and can cause flight delays, while July often sees highs above 84°F (29°C). Confirm that your hotel provides effective heating and air conditioning.
- Standard U.S. tipping for hotel staff is $1-$2 per bag for bellhops, $2-$5 per day for housekeeping (leave daily), and 15-20% for restaurant servers. Tipping shuttle drivers is optional but appreciated.
- Confirm complimentary amenities are suited to your needs. Major chains like Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, or Fairfield Inn typically include free hot breakfast, indoor pools, and business centers, and usually guarantee at least 10 Mbps Wi-Fi.
- Request a room on a higher floor and away from elevators, vending machines, or busy streets to minimize noise, especially in hotels near highways or the airport. Confirm availability of a quieter room at check-in.
- Look for hotels with flexible cancellation options, ideally allowing changes up to 24-48 hours before check-in. This helps if Midwest weather or travel disruptions affect your plans; always check your rate's specific cancellation policy.
- Seek out lower prices by comparing chain hotels slightly outside downtown. Typical rates for budget options like Comfort Inn or Holiday Inn are $60-$90 per night; ask about AAA, government, or senior discounts, which can save 10-15%.
- Dining around TOL is limited, often requiring a 3 to 5 mile drive for restaurants. Ask the front desk for the latest dining suggestions or advice on seasonal events, as traffic increases during Toledo Walleye hockey games and summer festivals.
- Tailor your hotel choice for your group: solo travelers should look for 24-hour front desks and strong safety reviews, families may benefit from suites with kitchenettes or free breakfast, and business guests should verify meeting facilities and options for early check-in.
