- The staffs were so kind. Facility is good and well maintenace. The peacooks are freindly and beutiful.
- Don't miss this gem! What a find. Build right around the waterfall and river. I will make Sukantara a stop every time I come back to Chiang Mai. Without a doubt this place is super special...a sanctuary for relaxation, meditation, and reflection. The owner was so nice, and gave me a history of her family owning the resort which I loved. If you're looking for a complete getaway to escape the noise of the city and get into nature and relaxation this is your place. Loved the sound of the waterfall when I went to bed - very serene and hypnotic. The peacocks and other birds on property were a delight. Beautiful breakfast every morning. They have a spa and massage facility on-site, although I didn't have time this trip to enjoy it, but will add to my itinerary when I come back. Add this to your must-do list when in Chiang Mia.
- The place and nice staff.
Cons -
- I didn't like that I had to leave!
- Their kitchen needs slight improvement

The place and nice staff.
Their kitchen needs slight improvement
Beautiful garden. The hotel is the middle of nature though they keep so well for the hotel guests. Beautiful peacock, and other birds and butterflies.
If you like the city hotel in the concrete this hotel is not for you.
Location and service were excellent! Great place overall.
Aircon in rooms didn't cool enough, pillows a bit hard.
We had a wonderful stay of 3 days at Sukantara. The meals were exceptional, such a surprise to experience great quality meals in a fairly remote area. Our room was very comfortable, and the bed excellent.
It’s isolated in a quasi- jungle setting. Relaxing as a river cascades down beside the property. Peacocks wander around and welcome you. The pool is wonderful alongside the river and a great place to escape the hustle of city life. The staff were friendly and professional. The food was really good and well-cooked. The chalets were rustic in design but very comfortable.
The isolation means you need to book trips to leave the property or have your own transport.
It is beautifully located next to a waterfall, right in the Forrest and freely walking peacocks. The staff is welcoming and the food was delicious. The rooms are spacious and get cleaned very nicely everyday. We enjoyed our stay the fullest. The staff is super welcoming and treat you like family. When travelling again to chiang mai we will for sure be back :)
Very pretty
tthey need to rid of the person or company that deal with their online bookings. The actual place once we got there is stunning and staff are lovely although not much English. The food is very good and we enjoyed our time there. It’s a real shame I had such a negative start.Booked and paid in full months before. Booked two rooms for 5 one of which is only a child on Booking.com clearly said all 5 included hotel wanted more for extra bed.We decided to get married while away so enquired about doing this while away. Got a reply saying not possible as a wedding is many man hours of work and we would need to book all the rooms and it would be very disruptive for other guests. The response was rude and upsetting as we in total would have been just the 5 still. For this reason we arranged to get married while on Koh Samui but first you have to visit the Embassy in Bangkok. You can only do this on. Tuesday or Thursday we we went to book for the Tuesday for some reason it was closed. I asked if I could move the dates by two days and cancel 1 of the 4 days paid for and use the money to pay against food. I sent numerous messages all ignored called time after time no English . Booking.com tried and got nowhere. I then said we would just stay the one night we would be there in original booking. Was told they would not allow us to stay.In all it took me 8 weeks to get this changed and we lost over 200 for the one night. We we got there was given the wrong rooms as we had booked two bedroom cottage with plung pool which quite a lot more in cost. No reason given why we did not get this and worse yet again no refund offered. Booking.com also refused to help.Rooms are nice but tired stunning location and staff helpful. The reason they would not do our wedding even more odd when we got there was only one other room occupied. As I run a small hotel for the life of me I still do not understand our awful treatment and nor could booking.com.It’s a lovely place but not worth stress
The most incredible place I’ve ever been! Beautiful landscapes, the sounds of nature, and peacocks wandering around. An experience you won’t find anywhere else. The staff was friendly and always ready to help. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was great. An awesome place to visit!
All was great! But be aware that the road till there is quite challenging
The beautiful location is on the banks of a river cascade, amoungst jungle foliage. Accommodation is in charming, romantic chalets, decorated in local style. The staff were very attentive and efficient. The food from the restaurant was good, dining on a terrace by the cascade. Note that the hotel is inhabited by noisy peacocks.
A very beautiful hotel offering a magnificent view of the waterfall and the jungle in a peaceful and relaxing setting. The peacocks add a lot of charm to the place.
I would have given a 10/10 if the hotel didn’t have two birds in cages, a parrot and another bird. Both are kept in tiny, dirty cages with bent bars. The parrot is plucking its feathers out of stress and boredom; it has no toys for stimulation, and its cage is far too small and unclean. The same goes for the other bird, which sings constantly and paces in circles inside its small, rusty, and dirty cage. There is a pile of droppings that has clearly been there for a while.I spoke with the hotel staff to try and explain that these were not good conditions and what should be done, but they didn’t seem very receptive. I find it really unfortunate there are plenty of free-roaming peacocks, so there is absolutely no need to keep two suffering birds in tiny cages. This is a major downside and significantly diminishes the value of this otherwise beautiful place.
Definitely a unique location, by the stream. In the morning when you wake up peacocks are waiting for you on the veranda. We stayed in a bungalow and it was big, big bathroom (otherwise open which can be quite cold in the morning). Comfortable. The breakfast was good but you have limited options. The accommodation is good for resting, working on the computer (lots of space on the terrace). Massage is also offered but it is quite expensive for Thai prices so we didn't go.
The entire complex is a bit run down. The wooden elements could use some renovation or a coat of paint.
The place is fantastic, peacocks running free, waterfall and wonderful nature. The facilities are great and well maintained. A real paradise on earth.
We went during off season (Mid June) the place was very quiet and the staff was not professional. The bar service was terrible, not friendly and they served us a spoiled wine, we had to insist and book the spa on our own, it was overall disappointing.
The unique scenery. The Nature and animals around.
Swimming pool not cleaned so no able to use it. Lack of cleaning around this resort. Rooms need to be refreshed.Mold on room’s walls.Poor quality on breakfasts.
It truly is a hidden gem. Everything is so filled with nature and extremely beautiful
The bathroom was not nice. The water was leaking from the sink all the way to the toilet. I hope they fix it because the hotel in itself is truly a gem and the staff is amazing
Location was amazing by the waterfall although it was far from Chiang mai
Distance from Chiang mai. Needed some internal work, painting etc. and could have been a bit cleaner
Resort with a unique location just in front of a waterfall and surrounded by nature. Interesting experience The peacocks add a surrealistic environment.
For this price in Chiang Mai, this hotel needs a real refresh. Some little birds are trapped into small tiny cages at the entrance. Don’t think it’s acceptable…
Nice experience watching peacocks and relaxing by the waterfall. The room was very comfy and nicely designed.
Despite the animal-friendly positioning of the place, there were birds in very small cages right after the entrance :( Very sad and disappointing. Also, the remote location of the property makes you depend on their menu. It was disappointing to find only fast food options and no healthy or at least tasty food during the stay.
On a waterfall was very special
Transportation to and from resort was pricey and difficult to find at times
