    Pros +

    • Prime location right next door to the Joetsumyoko Shinkansen station. Also adjacent to several rental car companies. Walking distance to Lawsons and several other restaurants.
    • I loved everything about this hotel for the area! Joetsumyoko is an incredibly convenient station to use as a jumping off point for the rest of Joetsu, for Iiyama and we even popped down to Nagano for a day no problem! It’s a completely covered walk of like 90 seconds from the foot of the station stairs to the hotel entrance, so when I say it’s “close to the station” I mean it! Also for convenience there’s a Lawson (コンビニ) suuuper close for any snacking or utility needs, and there’s a few good restaurants for dinner right by the station as well (and a Komeda for breakfast if you’re not eating at the hotel restaurant). The hot spring was a really nice benefit, and it opens really early which was great for me!The staff were really friendly, and the room was honestly way more spacious than we expected. All in all, this was about as perfect as you can get for a non-ryokan hotel in Joetsu!
    • Winter 2025. Being next to the Lawson was incredibly convenient. The location was sort of noisy due to the Shinkansen/train running. The Onsen was wonderful when visited outside of the busy times. Parking on-site was ¥500 and a one-time in-and-out transaction. However, parking is a bit small and does get full. The Times parking South/Southwest (next to train station) was ¥600 and a good solution in case the on-site gets full. Staff was wonderful. You can use the public transportation pick-up/drop-off area for quick access to the site for dropping off luggage or grabbing something.

    Cons -

    • Price for parking is reasonable (¥500), but it’s per entry, so if you want to drive to dinner and return, it’s a separate payment. I wish hotel guests were only charged per day with unlimited departures and arrivals.
    • Since it was winter and they had the heat on, there were signs about it being harder to control in the rooms and yeah, it was borderline unbearably hot at points! At least the window opened to offer us some relief
    • It'd be nice to have road access without paying for parking to quickly stop at the hotel to drop off luggage and not inconvenience the public transportation situation

Hotel is normal high APA standard with onsen and smallish room. For the skiing: There is a Shuttle bus leaving directly from the other sie of the station to Lotte Arai Ski Resort. Not to frequent but convenient. Needs to be reserved beforehand online.

    9AustinPosted on: 2-9-2025

Great option for skiing Lotte Arai. Free shuttle bus from the train station

    10TamaraPosted on: 12-29-2024

Staying already second time. Love this APA. Small but very very functional rooms. Onsen/vending machines/ restaurant on site and conbini just minutes by walk. Parking is only 500 yen. Extremely friendly staff.

    Clean, comfortable, convenient, affordable

Lobby decorations but it no big deal

    8GeoffPosted on: 4-9-2024

Right next to the train station, this modern Japanese style hotel has good sized, comfortable, well appointed rooms, a good breakfast and helpful staff.

No breakfast offered on Monday. Not much to do around the area, though 10 min cab to Takada Castle

    9SumaPosted on: 3-7-2024

Great Onsen. But TV in onsen annoying

    Tv in onsen. Soft bed.

    10AleksandraPosted on: 3-1-2024

Onsen was a nice option but lacks a cold bath. Staff was amazing and so friendly, even with lack of English we used Google translate to communicate. The main lady during the day was the best. Comfortable room and close the train station.

Onsen could use a cold plunge.

    9PeterPosted on: 2-26-2024

Clean, comfortable, new (Feb 2024) and has an onsen. Good jump point for skiing

The price difference between a single and a double (2 people in the double) was too large and not justified. Not much around the hotel.

    9Kwok H.Posted on: 1-31-2024

has everything we need. parking is available 1000yen each day

a little bit small for large luggage but overall still fits

    10TamaraPosted on: 1-30-2024

Everything was perfect. The rooms are clean, extremely functional, onsen is 100% after a long day on the mountain. TV has a airplay option and you can stream from your phone. Which was very convenient and great of you gave kids to occupy.

It is not a dislike, but on-site restaurant was closed on Sunday evening. Was not an issue as Lawson is 2 min away.

    10JasminPosted on: 1-15-2024

Perfectly situated at the station! Convenience store nearby too.

Rooms are small, as long expected.

    9BrossyPosted on: 1-1-2024

Staff, cleanliness, new and modern, non smoking, close to train station and times car share very close by.

Restaurant closed too early, but we found other good options close by.

    8ConnelPosted on: 11-8-2023

It was the most comfortable bed I slept on in my entire three week trip to Japan. The location was one Shinkansen stop outside of Nagano, and a brief walk away was a shipping contain restaurant group like a food-truck lot.

    10KarenPosted on: 9-30-2023

Very friendly staff who were always ready to offer their help! The room had a view of the farm and mountains which were really idyllic on a clearer day. I also appreciate the small onsen at the end of a long day. Had a really relaxing time there and will visit again!

    Nothing. It was great.

    10Graeme-sPosted on: 9-14-2023

Clean and modern hotel situated right near the train station. Staff were friendly, polite and accommodating, even using a translation device when I misunderstood a charge during checkout. The hotel public bath was clean and had outdoor tubs. The provided breakfast was outstanding. The room was clean and comfortable. Overall I enjoyed my stay here.

    10OlenaPosted on: 5-30-2023

Excellent small room with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Loved the yukatas! Hotel is close to the station and convenience stores. Staff at the hotel was very nice and helpful. Would come back again.

Vey comfortable, cosy room, big enough, great onsen, comfy beds, quiet.
