Apa Hotel Yamagata Tsuruoka Ekimae

Excellent location, nice large room, and a window that at least opened three inches.

Extremely warm, especially at night, and you have little control over that.

perfect location, right outside the tsuruoka JR train station, approx 1 min walk. there's a sheltered pathway if i remember correctly. there's also a couple of paid parking lots right outside the APA entrance, although i chose to use the multistorey carpark nearby as it was cheaperalso really close to nearby eateries (local ramen shop/ pizzeria)- there's also a family mart about a 5 min walk awayroom was just the right size for a solo travellerroom was really clean, toilet was really clean, bathtub as well- no issues with water temperature as wellall in all, really good stay

Very convenient to both bus and train station. Food shops, souvenir shops, visitor's center, mall and restaurants nearby. Basic comfortable room with a view. Clean, refrigerator, comfortable beds. Great breakfast. Tsuruoka Yamagata is a great part of Japan to explore. From here, you can go to Sakata, to Mt. Haguro and the Dewa Sanzan, or take a train to Atsumi Onsen on the coast and on to Niigata or Sado Island. You can also go north to Akita and Aomori. It's a place you can see more of "real Japan" . Tsuruoka has a lot to offer, with interesting antique and thrift shops, amazing museums and temples, groundbreaking architecture, renowned food (UNESCO gastronomy designation). You can arrive by train, plane or bus, if you don't have a car. There are travel agents, if you want assistance.

Well situated right next to the Tsuruoka train station. Pretty good morning breakfast buffet with both Western and Japanese food choices.

Pretty small rooms with not a lot of space for luggage, especially for two people.

Very close to the train station and bus station. Great jumping off point for the area. Staff very helpful. Hotel will hold your luggage.

Washer and dryer in lobby and only two of them. AC and Heating is central and not by room- which lead our room to be a bit muggy in July

Location is very central, right outside the central station and it’s bus stops, and close to the main bus terminal as well. This made arrival and day-tripping easy. The value for money is overall pretty good, the rooms are well outfitted for the price. The environment isn’t loud.

Despite being in a non-smoking floor (4th), because the room was between two smoking floors, it smelled of smoke especially when the heating/cooling system was on. If you want to avoid this, book an upper floor (6-8 are all non-smoking). Some of the bathroom fixtures were coming apart and it seemed like there was black mold growing in some places.

Staff was very nice, the room was clean and very bright. We appreciated that (no worries, the curtains are very blocking that for the morning) Location was perfect. Bathroom was very convenient. Nice lighting in the room.

The breakfast was excellent, with many choices.

The room was small, almost entirely occupied by the bed.

Kind staff and a nice hotel. Everything was clean and many restaurants nearby. The room also had a nice view.

The room was quite small to be able to open two big suitcases. Small bathroom too, but fine for a couple of nights

There were some hair in the bathroom from the previous occupier and the hand towel wasn't changed

It was super close to the train station and the bus stop to the major attractions are there like Kamo Aquarium and Mount Haguro. The major attractions in the city are a 20 minute walk away. Close to S-Mall which is a shopping centre with a supermarket. And another supermarket is also nearby.

Room was a little small but it was the right size for a solo traveler. But do note you can only open 1 28inch luggage comfortably.

Very convenient stay for a step over and good value for money. Friendly staff, good breakfast. Good location, next to the train station, many restaurants near by.

A bit difficult to find a parking lot in the area if you arrive late.

The beds were the most comfortable - me and my friend said it felt like it hugged us to sleep! The parking closeby was pretty reasonable price, and we were close to a tourist information centre

Hotel was walking distance from Tsuruoka Train Station.Easy to get bus, taxi.Perfect place to stay if going to Mt. Haguro.Room price is cheap.

Rather small room size.

The bed is soft and facility is clean. The carpark is available directly infront of the hotel and JR station is a short walk away. VOD in room is complimentary. Staff was very professional and friendly.

Probably one of the smallest hotel room. Best suited for a single guest instead of a family of 4 (though we had booked 2 rooms). WiFi was pretty bad in the evening time. Laundry is located at the front desk area.

For an APA hotel, the room was actually sizable for a single person. the location is amazing as it is across the street from the train station and bus terminal.

Breakfast cost money which isn't unusual. Go to the New Days at the train station for breakfast items.
