- Entire resort is designed for you to sit down, relax with drink or a good food and enjoy amazing views. We had half board so each morning and evening we were enjoying amazing foods and drinks from terraced restaurant with evening sun sets.
Cons -
- You can not see the sea from the room
- Nada!
- * We booked 2 rooms and asked if possible to have them close to one another. The hotel gave us 2 rooms, close to each other but different configuration from what we have reserved. Only after we checked in a saw the rooms are different, and following our complains - they gave us the rooms we booked (not close to each other). * Pool daybeds located (almost) in the pool are 150 Euro credit expanse for F&B. Other daybeds are free.

room was comfortable, enjoyed the pool as well.
breakfast options. though it was buffet style with some a la carte. there wasnt a lot of options for someone who was pregnant a lot of raw food, and the bacon and eggs were always not cooked well done so I had to request it to be.
Overall, the hotel itself is very pleasant and luxurious in terms of the premises, the pool area, and the general atmosphere. It’s definitely a great place to spend a comfortable vacation, whether as a couple or as a family. Now, regarding the dining experience: the main dining room is really nice, the service there is quite good, and there’s a wide variety of food options for both breakfast and dinner if you’re on half-board. You can also order individual dishes, and overall the meals are quite varied and enjoyable. However, there are a few problematic points I’m not satisfied like the room maintenance was not up to a high standard. We had a room with a private pool, which was lovely, but there were ants in the room despite the cleaning staff’s efforts. You really couldn’t leave any food uncovered.Another issue was the difficulty in opening and closing the balcony windows every time you going outside especially when you pay extra for a room with pool. The hotel faces the sea, so you’d expect to open the windows easily to let in fresh air or jump to the pool , Unfortunately, the windows were stiff, and even after I complained several times and asked for maintenance assistance, no one came. I had to eventually handle it myself with some oil to improve the situation, which is really not acceptable for a hotel of this caliber. They didn’t offer to move us to another room either.I took 2 rooms both had same issue , my son and my grandpa couldn’t open it alone.Communication with the front desk was poor. If you make multiple requests at once over the phone—like asking for extra pillows soap towels etc…they often got lost or never followed up.
Facilities are great , you can find nice beaches within 15-35 min driving if you really like to get sea time.
The beautiful property and grounds, clean and comfortable room, attentive staff, variety of dining locations and delicious food options, and excellent service.
The constant booming bass coming from Buddha bar. Sometimes, you just want to chill out and only hear ocean waves.
It was elegant with great service and wonderful breakfast
Having many steps in the rooms and to the private pool. The fact that each building is dedicated to a specific type of room- so if you want two rooms with different capacities next to each other, that wouldn’t be possible. But Ms Aspa - reservation helped us a lot in getting somewhat close rooms for our family.Thank you very much
Our stay at the Abaton Island Resort & Spa was, for the most part, a wonderful experience. We were there to celebrate a special occasion, and the high-level facility, which feels truly premium, provided a beautiful backdrop. The choice of restaurants for our dinner was excellent, and the overall treatment we received from the staff was very good.I must give special and recognition to several team members who made our stay truly exceptional. *Julieta* from the customer service team was incredibly professional and helpful. In the restaurants: Polina and Heleni were simply outstanding. My son has a severe gluten allergy, and their support was invaluable. They were consistently attentive and deeply supportive, ensuring every meal was safe. Their diligence allowed us to relax and dine with complete peace of mind, and for that, we are incredibly grateful. However, despite the excellent food and service, there was one consistent issue that soured our dining experience every single evening. Despite being on a half-board plan, we were required to pay for water at dinner. The charge was a steep €5 for each small 750ml bottle.while the Abaton Resort is a stunning property with a fantastic team—especially staff like Julieta, Polina, and Heleni—this water policy is a significant flaw. It feels unbecoming of a five-star resort and leaves guests feeling "nickel-and-dimed" at the end of every meal. We would still recommend the hotel for its service and quality, but we strongly urge the management to reconsider this policy. Including still water with the half-board dinner would be a small change that would greatly improve the guest experience and align it with the resort's otherwise high standards of luxury and fairness.
Despite the excellent facility, food and service, there was one consistent issue that was very disappointing :experience every single evening. Despite being on a half-board plan, we were required to pay for a water at dinner. The charge was €5 for each small 750ml bottle. What also made this policy feel particularly unfair was the service practice surrounding it. The waitstaff were trained to constantly and proactively top up our glasses. This meant that a bottle was finished very quickly, often leading us to order a new one. A simple dinner for two could easily end with a significant extra charge just for water—a basic necessity. This practice felt less like attentive service and more like a strategy to maximize sales on an overpriced item.I can totally understand charging for alcohol, or other special drink, but for water!!!??This is basic!Especially at premium hotel like Abaton
Nothing. Room was totally broken. At the reception we’ve been told that this is the only room left and that’s it!
Everything. The attitude for Israeli people was worst. And we could fill it. Never going back there!
We had a small issue at the beginning, nevertheless, special thanks to Mr. Vasius Stavrakakis who made sure we have a wonderful well spent time at the hotel and the restaurant,, we truly appreciate him solving our issue and taking care of us
A beautifully designed luxury resort offering stunning sea views, spacious rooms, and top-tier service. The atmosphere is serene and elegant, with excellent dining options and a relaxing spa. Ideal for couples or anyone seeking a peaceful escape with easy access to nearby attractions. A refined, tranquil gem on the Cretan coast.
Service can occasionally be inconsistent — for example, we ordered drinks listed on the menu that turned out to be unavailable. At WOW, the food is delicious, but all meat cuts start at 300g, which may be excessive for those with a smaller appetite.
The pool
The staff was unhelpful and misleading. I had an emergency and needed their assistance but they did not help during our stay and also after it ended.I was very disappointed.
We had a great stay and the staff took a great deal to make our vacation and occasion special. The pool, private beach and restaurants were all fantastic.
Some hotel policies felt out of place and unpleasant: we were told to leave the white sunbeds because they’re for VIPs unless we spent at least $150, big balcony tables at breakfast were VIP only, and we had to pay to upgrade for a genuinely accessible room (room description stated it was already accessible)
Beautiful resort, perfect view and great location about 10 minutes by car from Hersonissos. The breakfast was excellent and fresh, our room with private pool was incredible. Very clean, little treats and water bottles everyday, very nice beach and pool area. Perfect for relaxing and also a good spot to head out from to travel around the island.
No streaming service and only foreign news channels on the TV so we only used it to play music. Would have been nice to be able to watch a movie. The restaurants are on the expensive side but that is to be expected at a place like this.
The property is absolutely beautiful!! The staff at Buddha Bar were exceptional. I only stayed 1 night so I can’t comment on other staff members. The breakfast was by far the best breakfast of any hotel in the world!!! I cannot say enough about the quality and variety of options. Now that I have experienced this gorgeous hotel, I definitely will go back and stay much longer. Thank you for a great 1 night stay.
I guess it could have a better location on the sea with a beach but the unending amenities and activities offered compensate for this. The other hotel location I stayed in didn’t have a better beach either.
We loved every minute of our stay. From the minute we walked in, we loved it. I believe it is the most beautiful reception I have ever seen - the ocean as a backdrop is just picture perfect. The lobby smelled amazing and we were welcomed in the most hospitable manner. The service was outstanding - it was more than the usual friendly and polite service, everyone made us feel welcome and well taken care of. They service we experienced was true hospitality with heart. The breakfast had the most amazing selection. The views all around the resort are incredible - starting from the lobby, to the room, to the pool, we loved that you could see the ocean from almost every angle.Pictures do not do the resort justice - it is so much more stunning in reality.Special thanks to: Elini, Polina, Lia, Aggelena, XeniaAnd the lovely lady from Bony Fish.
If we had to mention one point of improvement it would be the offering of vegetarian dishes. Even though all F&B outlets offered vegetarian menus, the dishes felt more like a side dish than a main course. Kosta at Buddha bar was rather rude when we tried to order drinks, informing my husband that he cannot take orders and my husband had to find a waiter/waitress. This did not reflect the otherwise experienced hospitality.
The property is beautiful, clean and has a variety of different dining options. We visited during their off peak season so it was not crowded; we were always able to have a sunbed on the beach, go to the restaurants without booking and service was fairly quick. The hotel is fairly close to the airport, so it was convenient for a shorter stay.
Access was a little tricky with a pram. When we left, the hotel asked us what we thought of our stay. We wrote them an email stating our concerns, but this was never acknowledged, which I believe is insincere. The hotel prides itself on customer service, but weren’t polite enough to respond to my email. Here is what we said:Hi Markos, we really enjoyed our stay at Abaton however one suggestion would be improved accessibility. We came on holiday with our 3 month old baby and needed to use a stroller. We found accessing parts of the resort with the stroller difficult: (1) given the elevator was broken it was hard to access the beach/pool and we had to carry the stroller down the 3 steps between the shops and bar area to access the outside areas/ breakfast; (2) it was difficult to access the beach boardwalk without walking a very long route down to the Cretan restaurant and going through the restaurant (and there was no easy access from the other end of beach from the pool ) ; and (3) it would have been good to have some steps down to the beach as you had to climb down a steep bank which was precarious when carrying a baby. The other non-accessibility suggestion would be for your cleaners to be careful/quiet if they are moving furniture when cleaning rooms in the morning. We were woken a couple of times in the morning.
The staff were so friendly, we were treated as we came as VIP, took our luggage served us drinks and checked us in VIP style! We got a room upgrade from the simplest room to a higher tier room, was very generous of them. The room was in pristine condition, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was tasty and fresh, Greek and international food alike. The waiters, pool beach and facilities staff were spot on.
The restaurant prices aren't cheap, check before you go. Would probably be better to book 2 included meals a day instead of just breakfast
Very well and modern design
Its bars are very expensive, and its inside restaurant are not affordable, they are extremely expensive, its for rich people only
