- The location is wonderful and the hotel people are extremely friendly and help. We got a ride in the snowmobile from our room to the gondola.
- Great location
- Friendly and amazing staff whoever was there owner, waiter or kitchen workers all were friendly and nice. The waiter asked the owner help me with luggage which was kind of them so they helped me to bring luggage to hotel and the day of check out take the luggage back to Gondola station.Good bottled beer HBNice breakfast
Cons -
- I contacted the hotel 19 days before our trip (by email and also by phone). I did not get a return email or phone , with questions I had about being able to reach the hotel. We had to haul our luggage from the gondola to the room on the snow.
- Food and drink was priceyShared co-Ed dormitory is really just mattresses beside each other.
- It could be great to put some soap in corridor sink for washing hands. The owner was serious at beginning not much communicating which was strange but at the end wen I asked things he was helpful and gave me ski glasses with open heart maybe it is just cultural thing to be that serious in life.

We stayed three nights and it was very convenient to get to the slopes, the views are fantastic!! It’s very clean and the food is really good. We celebrated NYE there and the atmosphere was great; we could see all the fireworks below us. Staff are very friendly. Thank you!
Amazing hut/lodge at the top of kitzbuhl-breathtaking views from the room and amazing ski down before the crowd. but only restaurant is that at the lodge in the evening and the only way to get there in winter is by gondola. We almost missed the last gondola and would have had not been able to get to our room. Fantastic experience for those who are open to adventure and are ok with limited options.
I wish there were a snowmobile that could take guests back to the hotel after dinner in town. When we missed the cross mt gondola and had to take the bus to town, we were stressing that we would miss the last gondola to the hit/lodge. We ran and begged the gondola operator to let us on to get to our hotel. Thankfully he was accommodating and allowed us to take the last gondola!!
Absolutely charming mountain accommodation right on the slopes. We had a room with private bathroom and a chalet type studio both with the most amazing views over the valley and the mountains. Michelle, Peter and Uwe were fantastic and went the extra mile. Can’t wait to return in the summer! Food and drinks were great.
Great staff, Dirk and Michelle really made it fun and are super helpful. Best location for ski racing fans in town to watch the downhill training and really special to think we were basically sleeping at the start! Great vibe felt like a backcountry ski lodge but with a restaurant and gondola access :) 99 years of rustic charm. One of most special places we stayed over our 3 week trip following the world cup.
This was such a unique spot with so much history, as you can imagine from a 99 year old lodge on top of a legendary ski hill! We expected it would be like a rustic backcountry hut (but very easily accessible thanks to the gondola) and it was, but so much more: super nice staff, decent food, an opportunity to hang out and meet other guests in the restaurant/pub, and be about 100 m away from the start of the Hannenkahm downhill which, being our primary reason for visiting Kitzbuhel (to cheer on the Canadians!), was absolutely incredible. To watch training runs from literally outside the lodge was one of the highlights of our time in Europe following a few World Cup races. We were a group of 8 (4 couples) and we shared 2 quad rooms for 2 nights and staying here was a really fun part of our 3 week trip. If you are looking for the Ritz, this isn't it, but if you are looking for a memorable adventure, stay here! Loved it! Thanks to Michelle and Dirk for the great hospitality.
Food was very good
When the restaurant was full, they seemed quite overwhelmed and it was difficult for them to provide fast service. More restaurant staff would have been helpful.
Food was amazing, wonderful staff, great parties and the best location!!!
No lounge, cold water in the sinks.
I have never stayed in a mountaintop cabin before and Michelle and Peter were incredible hosts! It was the night before they were fully booked out so I got the entire upstairs dorm area to myself. At dinner, Michelle gave me free schnapps and in the morning Peter gave me a ride to the lift on the snowmobile. Oh, they also had 2 adorable Labrador Retrievers around.
My only problem was that access to this hut is attached to the main Hahnenkammbahn lift. If you don't get to the lift before 4 pm, you can't get up.
Had the best stay here over New Year’s Eve for 3 nights. The location is excellent, has the best panoramic views. The gondola up doesn’t start until 8:30 so you can easily get first tracks in mornings. Good breakfast Buffet. A few options for dinner, I loved the goulash soup and my son loved the Schnitzel. The staff was absolutely incredible. So friendly. Like they knew you for years. Michelle the host was awesome. Dirk was also amazing. They were always so helpful. He brought our luggage in a ski doo up to top of gondola when we left. I would spend every New Year’s Eve here if I could. They did a 5 course dinner which was awesome. There was a lovely bonfire. Dancing. And views of the most incredible fireworks. 10/10.
A railing on the top bunk for my kid would have been good. He’s a roller in the night. The wifi didn’t really work when we were there. But they had lots of cards and board games for the evenings.
You can’t beat the views. It super fun for a smaller group but don’t be fooled by the pictures of “crazy nightlife”, everyone does hang out together downstairs but no one is dancing on tables. It’s still an amazing experience just if you are looking for a club-hostel vibe, look in town. I recommend booking in advance and taking a private room. It’s worth it. Hosts are super welcoming and amazing.
Beautiful location and kind staff! The location is just incredible and very easy to reach if you take the Hahnenkammbahn up, and then either a short 5/10min walk down (over snow in winter) or short ride with ski/snowboard. It is also next to a slope so from the hut you can ski directly to a lift which is amazing, especially early in the morning during the sunrise, just beautiful!I think it can be a very fun place to socialize, however when I was there during Christmas it was super quiet, which i very enjoyed also. The staff made sure I had vegan food which I really appreciated. And the two dogs are just the cutest!
An amazing location on the Hahnenkamm close to the top of cable cars. With only 4 other guests it was very quiet. In the middle of June. We took a short walk in the evening with the mountain to ourselves, other than the cows. Spectacular views and very serene. Our host Michelle was wonderful. Dinner and breakfast were very nice. The start house for the downhill course was 200 meters away, which was very cool. Those Crazy Canucks from the 80's were crazy!
Perfect hut in the mountains if you want to hike. We stayed here during a multiday hike and were not dissapointed. Very friendly host. We received a free delicious schnaps on arrival. Very dog friendly as well.Very authentic mountain hut, reachable by foot or by cable car.
Nothing really. The hut is basic, but authentic.
I arrived after racing the VerticalUp run to a lovely welcome, food and prosecco. Followed by a real Apres hut party and a comfortable bed for the night. Perfect location a 2 minute walk from the top of the Streif.
The place is absolutely fantastic to meet people and to have a good time, on top of that you can always be first on the slopes.I absolutely loved the atmosphere with Michelle and Peter being absolutely fabulous hosts.
Nothing, I really mattered except that if you are alone at the end of the season, you better have a backup plan to have food ? but lessons learned next time I come in full season.
Exhausting and not restful. Isolating
This hostel doesn’t make it clear that the ONLY access to the hostel is the Hahnenkam lift. This means that while it is ski in/out, guests are unable to enjoy Kitzbuhel (the ski town) after 1630 when the lift shuts down for the day. The hostel also doesn’t have any place to relax/read/lounge while waiting for dinner in the dining room. So it felt very isolating not being able to go to Kitzbuhel and only being able to sit in the dorm room after a day of skiing. In addition the hostel does not give clear directions as to how one should take his/her luggage to the hostel. I had to take all of my luggage (10 days worth plus skis) onto the lift then walk all of it down a steep ski run to the entrance. The hosts do have a ski mobile but aren’t quick to offer the use of it to help with linage.
I didn't even end up staying there because we could never confirm the actual room, or add another room as we requested. No one answers the phone, or email and even Booking.com could not reach them. Had no idea where to park, hours on lift to get there either Booked another place and stopped by there to check it out and ask for a refund. Over crowded ski dorm good maybe for kids. Mats on the floor side by side to sleep , wouldn't let my dog stay there. Was a dump.
