Hotel Residence Dune - Free Beach Access

I used to come to this hotel every single summer for 2 weeks, for like 5 consecutive summers. Coming back 13 years later it’s pretty much the same. Food is great for lunch and dinner, excellent kitchen and friendly staff. But the breakfast used to be bad and still is. The cheese looks like it’s been sitting for hours, the vegetables are not looking fresh .. not like the ones you get when you order from the restaurant. Breakfast really needs some attention ….the lounge chairs around the pool are very dirty and I won’t be surprised if they are the same from a decade ago. The staff are friendly everywhere except the girls at reception. The waitresses and waiters are very sweet. Reception doesn’t seem happy to be there. The rooms need major upgrade the sink area and the shower are were dirty the outlet in the bathroom falls apart the hairdryer still the same from 15 years ago lol and the shower handle is broken that’s a hazard. The hotel used to be trendy and nice now there’s no effort, no upgrades, kind of sad. The beach is nice and the pool is very nice ! Cute boutique on site. Some of the same people go there which is why they probably maintain a good revenue but they need to keep up with renovation. May come back in the future but there’s many other great resorts outside Bulgaria, dune is definitely not it anymore. Has great potential but I think the only people that go there are the ones that are used to going there or don’t know better.

This hotel is fabulous with it's own private pool and beach wouldn't stay anywhere else when in Sunny Beach

Location was amazing.The hotel smelled great.Reception staff were very friendly.Balcony sea view was great.Parking was availablePool facilities are amazing The private beach allows you to have privacy and sun beds were spaced out which was great.Definitely will revisit.

No hand soap in the bathroom.No shower gel only small white soap.The room light is very bright there is a big lamp which can be used but there is no plug to connect it to. Nowhere to hang your wet clothes.Bathroom was constantly flooded as the shower head was loose.

The hotel is perfect in every aspect. It is the one and only hotel directly on the beach + beachbar with service, a pool which is never crowded, a lot of comfy free beach chairs with a lot of space in between. Super friendly and helpful staff and valet parking. Spacious rooms with everything, including enough lights (not in all hotels), quality soaps and drinks. The silent airco continuous working when not in the room. There is soft music playing through the complete hotel, every room has a balcony. I would suggest to book one of the seaview rooms. The Sunny Beach promenade runs behind the hotel, everything including restaurants within meters of the hotel. The hotel restaurant serves excellent food with a good choice at a fair price.

Nothing to dislike.

This is the only hotel in the area that is built directly on the beach. The private beach is fantastic and is clearly the most luxurious in the area- there is plenty of space between the sturdy, good quality sunbeds and plenty of sunbeds to go around, so no scrambling around for these. The place is a oasis of calm in the chaotic Sunny Beach. We were on the top floor with a big balcony, sea view, very private and quiet. As I travelled right at the end of the season the area and hotel were possibly quieter than usual. This made things very relaxing for me and I’d definitely love to come back at a similar time of year again. We had to get help in the room twice for the safe- first to show us how to use this (instructions would be useful) and again to have the battery replaced. Both times the staff came to the room almost immediately.

The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was mixed. The receptionist was a little rude when we were checking out- she seemed frustrated at having to repeat herself when telling us the amount that was owed. We might not have had to ask her to repeat if there was some context- she simply told us a number. We had to request an itemised bill. In case you have a late flight, there is no shower for guests to use once you have checked out. When you charge food and drinks to your room, you are not asked to sign or even to give your name. This seems like it might be open to abuse. We didn’t have any problems and I haven’t seen any detailed in other reviews so I suppose that they have their systems for monitoring this. You are asked not to bring in any outside food or drink. There is a sign in the room above the minibar reminding guests of this. I can appreciate the reasons for some restrictions but the idea of not having any snacks (or bottled water?!) in your room seems a bit much.

Staff were as always very friendly. Location is great.

Have been coming here for a few years now and this was not up to the normal standard I normally have. The property generally has become I bit run down. All areas need some TLC. Our bathroom had mould around the shower screen.

The hotel is very central, has all you want at your finger tips. Rooms where cleaned every day, standard where very high quality. Would definitely return,absolutely first class facilities,staff where so helpful and friendly also, staff couldn’t do enough for you always a friendly smile at reception and when having breakfast. Beach and pool facilities, fresh towels everyday.

Breakfast could go a bit later than 10.30am

Close to the beach. Well guarded and informed staff about the guests. Rituals bottles and child bathrope as nice gestures. Quick/daily restock of soap and bathroom items. Staff helped with luggage and offered guarding while withdrawing from mini bank. Nice hotel girls, very happy and helpful. Well-cleaned children chair for breakfast. Awake employees at breakfast who pulls out children chair when we arrive for breakfast. Lots of free beach beds, never an issue with availability.

Some of the call/assist buttons on the beach bed malfunctioned as it didn't work. Especially the one on the far left side. Didn't have rain showers. Not much variation of the breakfast bar. When I talked about some security concerns my family had I didn't feel heard. As they didn't follow up with my problem.

The loud and monotonous rhythm of the pool music. The breakfast is the same every day and not very varied, it does not correspond to a 5-star hotel

Everything was great- the beach, the water, the rooms - wide and clean.We will come back next year. The staff was very helpful.

Staff was very rude - the hotel had ridiculous rules like explicitly not allowing any food to be brought in from outside - if you bought ice cream for example you have to eat it outside before going in. It’s kinda laughable. Staff thought they worked for for some elite institution that was above everyone

Beach access

Last time I stayed I drove my Mercedes up to the bollard and reception dropped the bollard.This time I was on honey moon in a rental car. I had to get out in the rain and walk to reception to ask for it to be dropped.Round pool side beds were a bit worn and could do with replacing. Or recovered.Coffee maker but no tea spoon?Mini bar but no corkscrew?Phone call to reception and both were sorted.

Very clean. Perfect location. Private beach with service to your sun lounger.

The mattress had seen better days. Nearly all the fittings in the bathroom are loose on the walls, i.e. toilet roll holder, towel rails.

It is the best located hotel at Sunny Beach plus comfortable and beautiful. It is not a big hotel for hundreds of guests, but a precisely proportioned, human-scale hotel where you can stay for a shorter or longer stay at any time of the year.

We really didn't like the moment when we had to travel. We would have stayed much longer!

The hotel is very close to the sea, just 2 mins walk from your room. Beach is perfect and it is a good spot for windsufring. Restaurant is good, food is good. On breakfast there is not food for small kids, e.g. no porridges and natural yogurts. Hotel can provide you a storage room for your sport equipment.

Girls at reception absolutely unfriendly and don't want to help you with anything. During the stay my car was parked near the entrance and it was damaged. On my request to share video I got response that it is now possible (but there were at least 3 cameras). When I asked to call manager, he told that he is busy and can meet after 1pm, but then he also didn't come. Eventually after several attempts to talk with manager and get video records I haven't got anything with comment that there is nobody who can watch recordings for you. P.S.: waiters and barmens also shared very negative feedbacks about management, that they don't care about anything. Another strange thing for me was towels. We were 3 and had just 2 big towels and 1 small)) Even in 3 starts hotels I haven't met such issue and had for each person big and small towel.

The mattress is very sunken, we asked to change the room, at first it was impossible but in the end it happened and the mattress was better.Poor breakfast lacked vegetables, salads and cheeses, there was no variety, we skipped the breakfast.

Beach is just outside the hotel, with soft sand and very nice and smooth water entrance.Breakfast is continental and plenty for each taste.Rooms are quite big and very confortable, with all amenities needed for a perfect stay.

There is a certain (small) preference of hotel's parking personnel in terms of which cars they allow to park in certain spaces and it seems it has something to do with how good looking or expensive the car is, unfortunately.
