Pros +
- Taverna del Capitano is an amazing hotel with two outstanding restaurants which looks out on the Marina del Cantone. My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Taverna del Capitano the last week of October 2024. Incredible, we can't wait to return!
- Location is superb, right on sandy beach. Parking at the hotel. Great family owned place. Staff is very nice and helpful.
- This is the first hotel I have ever rated a full 10/10, and it absolutely deserves it. Taverna del Capitano is a third- and fourth-generation family-run hotel, and you can feel that legacy in every detail — from the warm, personal welcome to the effortless service that makes you feel part of their family. The Michelin-starred restaurant is extraordinary, with every meal crafted under the vision of the family’s own award-winning chef. Every dish tells a story of the family and the Amalfi Coast — elegant, authentic, and unforgettable. The hotel itself is perfectly located right on the beach in the charming seaside town of Nerano, which has a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere and an impressive culinary scene (there are two Michelin-starred restaurants in town). The setting is intimate and peaceful — ideal for anyone who loves waking up to the sea right outside their window. If there’s one “champagne problem,” it’s that the waves crash quite loudly on the rocky beach below the rooms at night. But honestly, that’s a small price to pay for falling asleep to the rhythm of the Mediterranean.A true gem on the Amalfi Coast — refined, genuine, and unforgettable.
Cons -
- Any request we had was fulfilled; absolutely no negatives.
- Absolutely nothing
- Transportation to and from Naples was limited and expensive via taxi.

The room was spacious and comfortable, right on the beach and close to restaurants, ATM and a little market that had everything you might need in a pinch plus great wine and cheese selection.
Transportation to and from Naples was limited and expensive via taxi.
We received the warmest welcome by the amazing staff of this family run business that brings together a renowned restaurant with a more recently added resort. Nothing could have been better. Notably, breakfast was superb, with a mix of premium quality local products and expressly cooked dishes.
The most beautiful place! The room overlooking the bay of Marina del Cantone was wonderful. The people who own the hotel are the ultimate hosts, hospitality at its finest. The starred restaurant is superb, as is the copious breakfast with local products. We absolutely love everything about La Taverna del Capitano.
Wonderful family owned. The Caputos are so knowledgeable and helpful. The service was that of a five star hotel and accommodated all of our needs and more!! Highly highly recommend Taverna Del Capitano for location, amazing food and friendly helpful service!!
Stay was too short!!
Position. Elegance. Simplicity Breakfast…. Probably the best I have ever had
No coffee machine in the room Breakfast started at 8. So if you wake up early you have to wait.
All the staff were so friendly, the breakfast was wonderful. Location amazing, can’t complain about anything will definitely return:)
Great location, quiet. Excellent service, very helpful staff. Delicious breakfast with good variety.
I had an unforgettable stay at this family-run gem on the Amalfi Coast. The staff were incredibly sweet and welcoming, making me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The hotel boasts a Michelin-star restaurant, and the food was simply outstanding—each course on the tasting menu was a culinary delight. Breakfast was superb, with a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. My room was beautiful, offering the most peaceful night’s sleep with the sound of the ocean in the background. The town itself is a hidden gem, offering stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere. I can’t wait to return!
ViewsAbsolute beach front.Exceptional staff
No kettle in the room.
Everything was perfect. The room was comfortable and spacious. The view was amazing. It was really good that beach loungers were available for free to hotel guests. Spending time by the beach everyday was such a luxury. The breakfast provided was the best I’ve ever had. So many options and they all taste delicious. Everyone at the hotel was also very welcoming and friendly. It can be quite stressful to travel alone but the people running the hotel and restaurant always made me feel the most welcomed. I cannot wait to stay there again.
Nothing at all!
The breakfast was exceptional. Locally grown fruits, homemade jams, pastries. Local meat and seafood in individual servings. The family that runs the hotel and restaurant are very kind. Great service.
There is no sand on the beach. But they put out lounge chairs and will bring food and drinks to you which is great.
Great hosts. Great restaurant. Great space. Great place to relax and unwind.
All of the food was excellent, and the staff was even better. The proximity to the beach, the vibe, the people, the town, etc., could not have been more ideal for a getaway. Simply one of the best times of my life.
Excellent family-run hotel. Perfect for a relaxing stay, far away from busy tourist areas. Located at the seaside, with a beautiful view. The breakfast was amazing. We’ve also tried the Michelin star restaurant, great culinary experience. The family that runs the hotel as well as staff were very friendly and helpful. We truly enjoyed our stay at Taverna del Capitano.
The Taverna is located right on the beach in the tiny seaside area of Nerano. It’s very relaxing and the hotel is very well kept and managed by a lovely staff. We had the largest room (suite) with a view patio so it was very comfortable.
There is no where to really walk as it is the end of the road.
Situated in an old fishing village, right on the beach…. 8 restaurants within 500ft. This place isn’t spoilt yet (like Positano is). There’s a tiny square with a couple of shops so it’s QUIET!! If you want to relax, eat good & be away from the crowds, then this is the place. The hotel is wonderful, very clean, lovely staff & a great breakfast (they also have a beautiful restaurant)
