Hippocampus Hotel

The best hotel we've ever stayed at. The staff was outstanding and so helpful. The location was perfect. Close to the beach, close to good food, and close to public transportation. We had a great time!

Great staff great location

We went this place after 10 years for our anniversary. The people are amazing as before. Everything was perfect. Very close to the beach, many restaurants around. Very touristy place, but if you want peace, you can relax in the hotel yard. We’ll go back for sure. Thank you everyone from the Canadian couple. ?

The hotel was perfect for our vacation, and we liked it very much! Great location, very close to the beach and lots of restaurants, shops, pharmacy and other services. The hotel was family-style, cute and inviting, not large and overcrowded, had very clean 2 pools and facilities. Rooms were nice size, with balconies. We were treated to a nice delicious breakfast including pastries and fruit that varied daily, coffee, tea, a variety of different milk options. The bar/kitchen service was available throughout the day. Staff, some of them might have been the owners, were exceptionally helpful and nice, we felt like among friends. We had to go to a local hospital in the middle of the night, and the guy at reception was so nice to not only call taxi for us and explain everything to the driver, but also to make sure we have all the necessary information to get back to the hotel. Some customers seemed to be returning year after year which tells a lot about the vibe at this hotel. I would definitely go back. Tip for those with a sweet tooth: try Erotokritos bakery. It's about 10 min walk from the hotel, but their baklava is one of the best I've tried, and I'm a big fan :) There are smoothies, ice cream and lunch options available as well. The best dinner outside the hotel was at Fistikies nearby the bakery, reservation might be needed.

Great location, nice breakfasts, lovely chilled pool area with a good size pool. The barman Adonis was really friendly and helpful. The layout of the 2 bedroomed apartment was a little strange but it had a really nice balcony which was quite private due to being surrounded with plants and trees.

The sun beds were very comfortable but needed a good clean.

We’ve been satisfied with everything: location, breakfast, room.

Maybe the kitchenware could be renewed, it’s already very old and for example glasses are missing (however we could get it easily asking at reception)

Lovely friendly hotel which we booked at the last minute as our ferry to Folegandros was cancelled. Right in the centre of town but very quiet. Great pool area and the breakfast selection was excellent

The staff are lovely. Nothing too much trouble. The location is perfect for all the amenities and 2 minutes walk to the beach.Lovely gardens and beautiful pool area.. an oasis of calm in the middle of Kamari.The hotel is spotlessly clean everywhere.The perfect retreat!

There’s absolutely nothing we dislike about the Hotel Hippocampus. We stayed last summer 2 weeks. We stayed this summer 2 weeks and we will stay next summer 2 weeks! Enough said?

It was a lovely pretty hotel very central to everything , staff were lovely , always ready to help would rec this hotel if ever going to Santorini

Great location, 2mins walk to the beach and 5mins walk to the bus stop. Good supermarkets and restaurants literally on the doorstep.Small, clean hotel with friendly and responsive hosts, especially Barbara who was a great help! Nice facilities and enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Comfortable beds, AC, kettle available on request, full mirrorred wardrobe and balcony. Would definitely stay here again.

The staff was really nice, especially Elpita, who always greated us with a smile and offered excellent suggestions to help us make the best of our stay in Santorini. The hotel facilities were above our expectations and the location was fantastic, a 2-minute walk to Kamari beach. It was a quiet area, but with everything we needed really close by. The breakfast was also very good, with diverse options for different preferences and some food items were different each day.

Nothing special to mention, the staff was great and we were able to use the pools (the hotel has 2 great swimming pools) and take a shower even after we checked out from our room.

Hotel was over at Kamari Beach so when we landed in the Port we took a public bus into Fira where we got a second bus to Kamari Beach (€2 per trip). Hotel was right beside the Beach a short 600m walk from the bus terminus. It has two lovely pools. One an Infinity pool which our room looked out onto and the other out the front of the hotel. On arrival the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Although the rooms were not ready they treated us to a cold beer while we waited. The rooms were spacious and the bed was super comfortable. The shower was excellent with a tear drop shower head as well as a hand held one. The sun beds were cushioned and we didn't have any issue getting beds during our stay which in fairness was short. Breakfast was from 8-10:30 and buffet style but lovely with a little variety each day. Coffee machine with proper coffee pods was a lovely touch. Bathroom sink was in the room outside of the Bathroom which was actually very practical with a large mirror.Hotel was around the corner from the main Beach Front Strip.

Room only had black out curtains and given it looked out onto the pool it meant that you had to close them when you were in the room unless you were sitting on the balcony. Maybe a net curtain would help a little.

If you are very sensitive for noise, there's unfortunately many bars and restaurants nearby that are noisy even at night, and closing windows doesn't always help

Great place with great location. They recommended some good places to eat and see.My 2.5 year old loved it!

Great location. Close to shops, bars, restaurants and the beach. Bus stop a few minutes walk and only cost €2 to Fira. Staff were so welcoming and helpful. Our room had a jacuzzi which was great. Everything was clean and as described and true to the photos online. If you’re looking for a dinner recommendation, Prince is worth a visit and only a few minutes walk.
