Pros +
- The owner is very friendly
- The price and location are unbeatable, and the host was very nice.
- The cutest little place. Good location, amazing staff. Mizu was the sweetest!
Cons -
- Really small place between the wall and the beds to walk
- The shared dorm room and the beds themselves were a little cramped, which I think is acceptable for the price. The entire place felt a little unclean though, which is less excusable, even at this price point.
- Nothing they couldn't do anything about. Just general issues with hostels in which others can be too loud at night (snoring, hitting the wall frequently). Nothing major wrong.

The cutest little place. Good location, amazing staff. Mizu was the sweetest!
Close to train station. Super friendly and accommodating staff. GREAT value for what you get. In terms of hostels, this is really well managed. It's close to nearby kobini stores or laundry stores.

The guy working there is very nice and friendly, he doesn't know much English but he does his best to explain the rules and make sure you are comfortable
N/A perfect for it's price.
The staff was good specially Mezu.
Silence bit clean but not mush comfortable. not large in size
Had an amazing 4 night stay over at BaseInn Uguisudani. Located around 5 minutes away from Uguisudani Station, which is a station along the JR Yamanote Line, making popular attractions and areas such as Shibuya, Ueno, Ikebukuro, Shinjuku and Tokyo Station very assessible. Aside from that, within the vicinity of the place, there was a Don Quijote (Donki), a few convenience stores, supermarkets and food stalls with different food options, which made late night food runs or shopping very convenient. In terms of facilities, there was a shared fridge, microwave, toilets, shower, sinks, bidet, eating and living area. Shared cutlery such as spoons, forks, bowls and cups as well as shared toiletries such as soap, conditioner, shampoo, towels and room slippers were also provided. Bed in the capsule was comfortable and also had a socket for charging devices by the bedside. Mizu-san, the host, was very friendly, hospitable and accommodating. He was always there to welcome us back to the accommodation, after a long day out. He frequently asked us how our day was, chatting about our time in Tokyo, giving us recommendations as well as always provided assistance whenever we needed it. He also allowed me to store my luggage at the place, after the checkout time at 11am, and retrieve them before 6pm, which gave me a bit of time to out in the afternoon and grab a meal before flight was later in the evening.Overall, the place was very cozy, at a really affordable price, you will definitely meet many people from different countries and all walks of life. Location was great, in a more laid back area of Tokyo, however many places was still very accessible. If you're a person who is travelling on a budget or does not want to spend too much on accommodation, just need somewhere to sleep and rest for the night during your holiday and does not mind sleeping in a shared space, like myself, I highly recommend this place!
No space for opening your luggage and packing up your things into your luggage.
It is near a coin laundry, public bath, convenient stores and a train station (Uguizudani). The staff (Mizu san) is very kind.
A space for a big suitcase is narrow. (But there is a space enough that you can open one side of a suitcase.)
Very convenient location for arriving to Tokyo as it is near Nippori station, fast connection to Narita airport, but at the same time walking distance to Ueno park with all the Museums, close by Asakusa and sumo district. Well connected with the rest of Tokyo. Nearby is an onsen and eateries, walk away from a mother station Uguisudani. The hostel is super small - basically in a small apartment with super small’noodle’ of a sleeping room and adjacent common area separated by a paper wall. This place wouldn’t be so successful without the keep Mizu who lives on the premises and is helpful, explains and enforce the rules so it works perfectly for everyone. Comfortable, super clean bed, toilets and showers. Provided are unlimited towels, slippers, umbrellas for rainy days. The place was super quiet and I had a good sleep on all three nights. Convenient and easy check in and check out. I’d stay again.
There should be a better system with lockers; currently, you can only lock your luggage to a chain in the sleeping room. Bring extra padlock for your luggage as it is exposed otherwise.
The hostel’s saving grace is it’s sole staff - Mizu San! Mizu San was very thorough in informing everyone at check in of the hostel rules and following up with everyone when they veer of course. He was always friendly but professional, helpful & accommodating with inquiries & requests. He always made sure to ask how your day was and genuinely cares. He sure made our stay that much better and more memorable time in Tokyo. He even helped us with our heavy luggages bringing them up and taking them down when we checked out, to the point he walked all the way to Nippori Station to help with our luggages to the elevator!!! That was beyond just customer service; he was genuinely a very caring person!!!! Thank you Mizu San for taking good care of us and the guests! We greatly appreciate you and you will always be fondly remembered in our hearts!!! Location is very convenient to grocery & convenience stores, some restaurants, the JR Uguisidani Station, 1 KM from Iriya Subway/Metro Station, laundry shop just a few minutes walk. Lorna & Jing
Spaces were maximize, so, kind of tight everywhere - 24-bed mixed dorm, small dining table, tight counter tables w chairs. Shower inside doors n sinks need to be thoroughly cleaned. I had to clean part of the refrigerator of lint/dust/hair by d front of the crisper drawer.
Comfortable place to sleep, clean, cheap and with a sensational location. Staff cordial and very friendly and helpful, bathroom and the whole common area neat and clean. Quiet and comfortable. Highly recommended.
very clean and organized! mizu-san is very helpful and friendly! one of the best and nicest hosts i've met! i also like how near it was from the station, just 7-10mins walk, it made it easier for a solo traveler like me and first time visiting japan
The owner is very attentive and welcoming. It is well located, only ten minutes from Ueno Park!
I will suggest changing the curtains on the capsules to something that can be locked. But other than that, for a better sense of security, there hasn't been a problem.
Great value. Classical hostel with 24 beds in the same room. Privacy is good as bunks are made as wooden capsules, but if there are snoorers, they will still bother You. The host Mizu San is excepcionally friendly and makes Your stay very pleasant.
I would appreciate some fresher air in the room, but atleast fan is provided to help with circulation.
We had a great experience staying at this hostel. The host was incredibly friendly and gave us so many helpful suggestions on where to go and eat — it really made our time in Tokyo more enjoyable and local-feeling. The location was also very convenient, close to the train station and a lot of grocery stores.Even though the bathroom was shared, everything was always clean. The separate shower space was a great touch and made it feel more private and comfortable.Overall, a cozy, clean, and welcoming place to stay — would definitely come back!
The hostel manager Mizu-san was very friendly, caring and welcoming, which made our stay at the hostel comfortable and enjoyable. The shower, toilet, sinks - everything was clean and easy to use. This hostel was much nicer than others with a similar rating. Also, right next to the hotel there is a great inexpensive public bath and coin laundry, where you can wash and dry your clothes right away, which was very convenient for us. It was also easy to get to the subway station, the location is great - just one stop from Ueno Park.
The location was ok, near the station and ueno park. The stuff is nice and helpful, find the common areas clean.
The host; Mizu San was super friendly. The guests followed the rule very carefully which made the experience there very pleasant. Atmosphere in general is very quiet and calm, but you can talk to any guests as long as they want some conversation too.
The location is kinda far away from the biggest tourism spots like Shinjuku and Shibuya but the accessibility by subway system is very good.
Our host Mizu-San is what made our stay exceptionally good. He is so kind and welcoming and will give you plenty of recommendations for activities and places to go.The hostel itself offers standard amenities like most other hostels I’ve been to! If you are familiar and comfortable with the close-shared-living-quarters style hostel, then this is a great, affordable place to stay while you explore Tokyo!
Beds are good, wasn't bothered and didn't lose anything in my few days stay. Hosts are friendly.
No lockers besides some luggage locks but that's okay for the price.
