    Very Good

    Pros +

    • Near train station, friendly staff, quieter environment.
    • Staff were very kind and helpful. Coin washer/dryer, board games available to check out from front desk.
    • Very large room

    Cons -

    • We had some older people in our group and with the location they struggled to navigate the stairs to cross over the subway tracks to get to Ueno park and the museums in that area. If you walk far enough you can avoid some of the stairs but it is a trek.
    • None, exceeded expectations
    • Very expensive for what is provided. Room congested with a dining table and chairs that are never used. Better to change the table and chairs to a comfortable sofa.

Very clean and the staff were very helpful.

Nothing, though it is cold in the hallways because it is outside.

    8LOHPosted on: 12-25-2025

Nice and clean ….walking distance to food and shopping area

The dryer took a long time for the laundry to dry

+ Connecting Japanese Apartment: The connecting Japanese apartment we stayed at had a room with 4 twin beds, and another room with 2 twins and 2 futons. All were comfortable!+ Wool dryer balls really helped to speed up our drying time for laundry. We had a load with and another without, and the difference was noticeable, at least a good half hour.+ Staff pleasantly helped to keep our bags after check out and before we could check in to our next Mimaru Hotel at a different location.+ The Christmas Markets and Illumination spots that the staff had recommended was a nice touch!

    - Cramped space for 4 adults in 1 room + bags.- Little space to hang 4 bath towels, and places to put our own toiletries / things.- Room slippers were the same color as the carpet, so it's not easy to spot them.- Pretty pricey especially for the room size.

    - Warmly decorated reception area, and welcoming and friendly staff - who can speak different languages which made communication much easier.- Pristine and spotless rooms and bathrooms, even the utensils and tableware were clean.- Love that the toilet is separated from the bath/shower and sink, so different people can use these at the same time.- Coin laundry provided on the 1st floor (with detergent included and automatically dispensed during the wash), and even a coin exchange conveniently located inside. Also love that dryer wools can be requested from the receptionists.- Fast elevators.- Comfortably wide beds, and they are firm but not too hard.- Location: I like that it's a little removed from the main hustle and bustle of Ueno Station, but still close enough to convenient stores / food places.- Family Apartment Room: The family apartment we stayed at had 2 twin beds and 2 bunk beds. The bunk beds were wide and long enough for adults too, not just children.- Amenities: So many you could ask for / request if they're available! Even things like table/board games, rice cooker, curling iron etc.- Overall a nice, cozy, and warm experience. Very family-friendly, and this is speaking from traveling with both young children and elder parents!

    - Pretty cramped, and very little room to store or open up our luggage. The space is large enough for adults with minimal bags / traveling super light. But even if the bedroom fits 4 adults comfortably (without bringing any belongings), if each adult brings even a carry-on size luggage, there is very little room to put these.- Little counter space, especially in the bathroom.- Location: Yes it's a 4-minute walk to Ueno Station's Iriya exit. But if you want to use the other train lines, it's a much longer walk because Ueno Station is large.- No universal type electrical outlets, and only USB-A charging ports.

The apartment/room was perfect for our family with two toddlers. We loved the seating area, kitchen and the tatami sleeping area. The kids (2-years old) could sleep on futon beds on the tatami next to our bed. Overall the room was so clean. Staff at the reception is super friendly. We loved the location near Ueno park, the zoo, Ueno station with many lines, and Inaricho for the Ginza line. Also, we could walk to Asakusa in ~25 minutes with the strollers.

It is still Tokyo. The street is a bit busy, and the sound carries a bit. Also we would love a little outdoor play area for the kids on the rooftop - if building permission would allow

The hotel is in a great location near the Ueno train station and subway. The room was very clean and the staff were very helpful.

The dining table was very low as well as the chairs. It was very difficult for tall people to get up from the table.

Good location near the ueno station Easy access to all of tokyoDirect train from ueno to hakone!Hotel is nice and clean, with good facilities Staff is very friendly and helpful, speaking englishYou can leave your baggage after checkout, which makes it easy to plan the last day of your stay?Room is big with a good kitchen facility Soundproof windows block the strret noise (not that there is that much anyway)There are combinies nearby, as well as the IOIO mall and different shops and restaurants

    Nothing really

    3BelenPosted on: 9-19-2025

I'ts close to the train station and the front desk staff can converse well in English

    1. The intermittent air conditioner where even though it was set at a certain mode (Not auto) it will stop and start irregularly and we ended up waking up sweating. We were there during the summer by the way.2. Keeping in mind that we were there during September summer, the washlet water was painfully HOT and I asked the staff about it and she explained with what can be understood was, 'it can't be changed' as its somewhat centralized? but clearly there was a button in the controls that won't function that says "Temperature". Imagine using scalding hot water to wash yourself, so we weren't able to use the washlet AT ALL.3. And the worst part of this stay was the "HOUSEKEEPER" during the LAST day we went out to explore and when we came back the inner window was open, we shrugged it off until my daughter found an iteam on her bed with an INAPPROPRIATE word inscribed on it. that was not hers and was never there day one or before we left for the day. This was incredibly TERRIFYING and UNPROFESSIONAL and we were unsure if someone broke in our room, we told the staff about this upon checkout and they told us only the HOUSEKEEPER is able to enter the rooms, which is CONCERNING seeing as they are able to BRING INSIDE items aside from what they need to do their job. As important as it is for items not to leave guests' room, it is equally important for unknown items NOT to enter guests' room. this was VERY disturbing and made our stay extremely uncomfortable because this is a person that enters your room with your important and delicate private items accessible to them.I've seen the negative reviews regarding a housekeeping incident too and it seems like this person is not being reprimanded or receiving disciplinary actions. This is the very first time we experienced concern for our belongings and safety as guests we're supposed to feel SAFE and comfortable and this place did not do that at all.

We had a wonderful stay at MIMARU Ueno Tokyo East. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the train station and Ueno Park. The room was clean, comfortable, and well set up for a relaxing stay. Despite being in a busy area, it was super quiet, which we really appreciated. Would definitely recommend!

Overall happy, we did have some issue with finding blood on our bed sheets

A little far from the action closer to the train station
