HOTEL VARKIN Ikebukuro Nishiguchi

The location was short walking distances to train stations, eateries, and to areas we were needing to go to. All aspects of the rooms were very large with a separate rock sauna, large bathroom & separate vanity area. The bedroom contained a Karaoke machine and king size comfortable bed. The hotel rooms could be booked for a "rest", "by the hour" or overnight, which we did. I would have no hesitation in staying at this property again.

I loved how it’s easy access the staff does not bother you and it’s very quiet clean and fancy. The bathroom and room itself were really nice and gave luxury I loved it I just wish I could’ve stayed longer.

It was a good room with a spacious restroom and an advanced smart toilet. There was a bath with jet massage and illumination. Plenty of shampoos and lotions were available. The staff were very helpful and followed up on my requests.

It's unusual to have evacuation window in a room and no normal windows (maybe it's ok for Tokyo). Towels smell bad after the first use, but plenty are provided, and can be replaced daily upon request. The mattress topper and pillows were a bit stiff to my liking (but somebody will find it on a good side of things).

Great place to stay as a couple. Room was smaller than it looks in the pictures but was stylish, fun and in a good location. Bathroom was S-tier. Would stay again

Good value for Tokyo. 10mins to Ikebukuro station makes it easy to get around.

Hot water not working in morning but good at night??? Very hard bed, and limited space in room.

We stayed at several hotels in Tokyo and in other places in Japan during a two week trip. This was the best one, and the best value. The room was large and had a king bed, and it was very comfortable. It had amenities that I didn't even realize it would have - a 2-person sauna and a karaoke machine complete with an excellent sound system and disco ball, for example. The room was super quiet and sound proofed. The bathroom was very nice, with a large tub.

There were no windows, except for kind of an emergency escape opening, which is intended to generally be kept closed. I found that odd, but that didn't bother me.The place is a bit odd, perhaps reflecting that some people use it as a "love" hotel. The common areas are poorly lit, and the front desk is mostly shielded from view, so that you can talk to the clerk and pass papers or money through the opening, but you don't actually see the clerk's face. I take it that this is for discretion, to protect the customers' privacy. Again, it's something I found more amusing than annoying. Overall, this place was a great find.

Convenient location to Ikebukuro station.

Missed the comments that this was a love hotel. Bed and pillows were uncomfortable. There was a fan that very loud and we couldn’t access the controls.

Many night clubs near the hotel. So I didn’t go down on my own at night time.

Avoid this scam!

The staff at the location address listed on booking.com told us to go to a totally different place with all our luggage having just got off a very long flight. It was the same hotel chain, so it seems they're using the address close to the station but then providing rooms much further away from the station.This is unacceptable as I'd deliberately wanted to book something near the station. I told them this much and they tried various ways to get rid of us. They then had us move to yet another hotel, but when we get there they wanted extra money! Really not OK. I now try not to use booking.com as this isn't the first time this has happened. Just book direct now.

Unclean and small space . The room was very very small than in the pictures, the price for Booking online was different than the actual price.

Very clean and full of amenities. Staff were very helpful. Would come here again if we are in Japan.
