    Pros +

    • Everything was perfect. Location is very good.
    • Clean and very quiet location
    • This is the second time I stayed at the Keisei Richmond Hotel Tokyo Monzennakacho in the last two years. It is two short blocks from the Mozen Nakacho subway station, which has access to many attractions not too many subway stops away. There are many modern shops and restaurants, local small mom & pop restaurants and bars, and a big grocery within walking distance. The breakfast is an all-you-can-eat self-serve buffet style that served a combination of Japanese and Western style dishes for a really inexpensive price, 2,000 Yen, Nov. 2025, which is a bit more than the last time I stayed here. There's a sink and hand-sanitizer station at the entrance to the lounge area, which I found convenient so I could wash my hands prior to entering and also when my hands got something on them. I like the free drinks available on the 1st floor lounge open 2:00PM- 10:00PM. Sadly, there's no hot chocolate option any more, but there are coffees, orange juice, soft drinks and soft serve ice cream. The front desk staff are extremely helpful, but they spoke very little English. My favorite staff member, Mr. Ichihara-san doesn’t appear to be an employee any more. He would print for me directions in both Japanese and English on the places I wanted to see, and I could usually communicate with him with have to go to a translation device. This time the staff said they could only print directions in Japanese, not English. One female staff member did give me good recommendations for restaurants. The bathroom is the typical size one found in the three different hotels I stayed at. The hot water came on fairly quickly in the shower and separate controls for the tub and shower. Many things were controlled through the remote control of the TV and the Smart HDTV. There are screens for both Japanese and English and many option to choose from like Video On Demand and local Japanese TV. One could see actually see when their laundry machine was completed on the third or ninth...

    Cons -

    • We could not pay and buy breakfast on the check out day.
    • The complimentary coffee is not available all day or at least until 10 am
    • I would have liked to see a room safe to store valuables! The other two Japanese chain hotels I stayed at, the Mitsui Garden Hotels both had safes in the rooms. They allow one to store things in their safe downstairs, but it’s not convenient to do so if one has larger items, which don’t fit in the storage envelope they offer. When I was inspecting the room for cleanliness I found a hair on the pillow, which was a turn-off for me. I stayed there three nights, and didn’t ask for the cleaning staff to clean my room, but I kept on finding long hairs on the white towel floor mat in the bathroom. I don’t know if they were being tracked in from the hallway of the seventh floor or the hallway from the room, but it’s disconcerting to find hair that doesn’t belong to me, a bald man in my room. Imagine if I had a blonde girlfriend and she finds a long black hair in the bathroom; how would I explain that? Most of the staff spoke mostly only Japanese, but they have these little devices they use to help translate what you're are saying and what they are saying, which is shown in print on the device. There’s little parking available and no bell hop.

I loved this area so much! It’s quiet and calm compared to more popular central areas so it gave us really nice restful nights and quiet mornings. There are so many nice cafes, food spots, and nearby parks and gardens you don’t even need a train for. It’s also a huge plus that the train station is less than a km away so it’s very easy to get around.

Quiet location, but easy to get anywhere with public transportation.

Most of the staff had only limited English.

    SORROUNDING

I am writing regarding our recent stay at your hotel. Unfortunately, during our first night, there was a power cut, and electricity was not restored until around 11:00 PM.Due to this outage, we did not have air conditioning, lighting, tea/coffee-making facilities, or dinner service, which severely affected our comfort and experience—especially given that your hotel is rated as a 4–5 star property. There were no proper alternative arrangements provided to ensure guest comfort during this time, and as a result, our first night was completely disrupted. In light of this, we kindly request a refund for the first night’s stay as compensation for the inconvenience caused. Please confirm how we can proceed with this refund request.Thank you for your understanding and prompt attention to this matter.

Perfect location for an overnight stay in Tokyo. Very comfortable bed, quiet location, plenty of restaurants nearby, and a short walk to the metro. The breakfast was superb. Plenty of Japanese and Western cuisine to choose from.

Slight musty smell in the bathroom.

    9EszterPosted on: 11-1-2025

Very clean, and tidy, the staff was very welcoming (although their english could use a bit of improvement), and the location is great, near a metro station.

The triple room is way too small for three people.

    9TommyPosted on: 10-18-2025

Location is very convenient to all the tourist attractions. Breakfast is excellent. lots of local restaurants around with good price and delicious.

Room is small. But it's ok and bed is very comfortable.

The hotel was very comfortable, the rooms we had were quite large. Very nice breakfast choices and the staff was very helpful. The location was superb’

We booked through Booking.com and they messed up a bit our reservation. They are useless, no customer service at all. The hotel had nothing to do either it.

    9DenisPosted on: 10-11-2025

Super friendly staff. Room clean. Good breakfast. Close to lots of restaurants and subway

    7EmeryPosted on: 10-6-2025

Convenient location close to Monzen-nakacho Station. Rooms were clean and it was very quiet at night.

The pillows we were given were very soft and provided pretty much no support. The bed was a bit on the hard side.

Clean and comfortable. Quick check in/out. Very nice staff were helpful and available at all time. Room was well equipped. Not the biggest room for the three of us, but nothing we couldn't manage. Great location close to the metro. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel so can't comment on that, but overall we had very good experience.

Room size was ok for the three of us, but if you're looking for a specious experience, I'd recommend asking for a big room.

    10Wei-YenPosted on: 7-21-2025

Adding breakfast to our stay was inexpensive, and the buffet was better than expected. Location is great, next to the subway, and there are a lot of shops within walking distance. I definitely recommend the hotel.

    Location, food

I booked an extra night and was told at reception that everything was fine. Later, when I returned to the hotel late at night, very tired, the staff refused to let me in without paying the local tax. They could have mentioned it earlier when I confirmed my booking or during checkout—not insist on it so late, especially when all my belongings were in the room and I might not have had any cash with me at the time. This was very strange and disappointing treatment from the staff.

    10TroyPosted on: 7-20-2025

The staff were great, hotel was clean and bigger space than I was expecting to have in Japan.Good location and not bad value either,.would stay there again if in Tokyo

    9AntonioPosted on: 7-19-2025

Staff were welcoming and always polite. Room was very spacious and amenities were nice. The location was near several subway lines. The neighborhood was quiet and pleasant. The ability to be able to check on your laundry through the television was a plus.
