Like a pearl hidden in its oyster, Le Tikehau sits on a private motu. Its 33 bungalows and suites are built with natural materials, the overwater units are set on a translucent lagoon. The decoration is charming and comfortable, the grounds make up a green and flowery oasis on this land of coral. All rooms feature elegant Polynesian décor with wooden floors and a thatched roof. Each unit has cable TV, a mini-bar and tea and coffee making facilities. Le Tikehau by Pearl Resorts is located 1.7 miles from Tikehau Airport, and 15 minutes from Tuherahera Village by boat. Motu Puarua (Bird Island) is a 40-minute boat ride away. Tavai Spa offers a range of traditional Polynesian ‘Taurumi’ facial and body treatments. An off site diving center features a range of scuba diving opportunities, for beginner and advanced divers. Poreho Restaurant overlooks the lagoon, and features French and Polynesian cuisine. Kaina Bar offers a range of cocktails in a beautiful setting between the beach and the pool.

Pros +
- We loved our experience at Le Tikehau, staying for 4 nights in late September. The whole facility was beautiful and meticulously maintained, and they are still working to expand the resort with another bar and other amenities. Even though they were fully booked it felt like we had the place to ourselves most of the time!Stayed in a "basic" OWB and it was very spacious, had a comfortable bed, well stocked with amenities, and excellent view of the lagoon! We enjoyed watching fish from the balcony. All the staff members we interacted with were friendly, helpful, and we had some fun conversations with them. Breakfast was great, we had lunch once (decent but nothing to write home about), and the fish main plates at dinner were also excellent. Good wine list. We enjoyed a few cocktails during happy hour, and the bar appetizers were excellent. The workout room was well equipped and we used it most mornings; did not utilize any spa services but heard from other guests that they had good massages.I was surprised at how nice coral gardens right under the bungalows were (I expected more damage to the reef) & how many different fish species we saw. High surf and wind while we were there made swimming conditions challenging but still enjoyable.
- Everything!! It’s so dreamy!! Beautiful bungalow, super friendly stuff, delicious food, beautiful beach and corals and just so relaxing and welcoming! We loved every second there and will definitely come back! Thank you for everything ?
- Everything perfect! Staff and management were delightful and attentive . Restaurant and breakfast were out of this world. Fantastic !
Cons -
- In talking with folks that have stayed there multiple times prior to renovations they mentioned some of the "authenticity" of the place was lost, which I could understand with it being acquired/operated by a luxury resort chain, but we expected this and had all our authentic experiences in FP at locally-owned places we stayed prior to this part of the trip.
- Nothing - everything was exceptional!!
- No negative aspects to note

Breakfast buffet was very good, as were the other meals. Our dives with Coco Dive were also quite good and very professional.
No negative aspects to note
Hotel was recently refurbished; We had a nicely decorated beach villa with sunset view (#24); Small hotel; Good cocktails; Very nice breakfast buffet; friendly staff
A lot of mosquitos and flies incl. restaurant; Only vegetarian option on menu not available; Alternative was vegetables (the same every day) with rice and daily sauce for XFP 35.000
Location, maintenance, rooms, staff, clean, decoration, …Good wine list
The hotel was still in construction… so some noise and inconvenience. And we were never warned beforehand…The food and menus need to be diversified and improved.
Luxurious, modern, clean and unique. Lots of extra touches like complimentary mini bar and use of snorkels (for the amazing snorkelling around the open water bungalows.) restaurant was excellent. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Place was private and quiet.
We recently stayed at the newly renovated Le Pearl at Tikehau, and let’s just say—it’s the kind of place that spoils all future vacations. The hotel is still undergoing renovations, but honestly, you’d barely notice. There’s no noise or disturbance at all, just a wonderfully tranquil vibe. With only part of the property open, it feels like your own private island getaway. We saw maybe 15-20 people total during our stay, making it delightfully peaceful. We had the chance to try out the overwater bungalows, which are freshly updated and absolutely breathtaking. Some offer direct access to the lagoon from your private deck—a true bucket-list experience. We also stayed in a beach bungalow, offering a private beach just steps from the shore. Both types of bungalows are beautifully renovated with sleek interiors, offering a luxurious and comfortable stay.If we had to pick a favorite, overwater Bungalow #7 is the ultimate choice. It offers the most privacy and an unbeatable view of the sunset. Whether you choose a bungalow with or without lagoon access, the interiors are identical—so it really comes down to personal preference. The renovations throughout the hotel are top-notch. From the chic bar and restaurant to the beautiful infinity pool that seems to merge with the lagoon, everything has been designed with care. The staff? Absolutely lovely—warm, attentive, and eager to make every moment special. Now, let’s talk about the food. Breakfast is a dream: fresh pastries, bread, brioche, fruits, eggs—you name it. It’s a buffet that doesn’t feel like a buffet (yes, it’s that good). Lunch and dinner are equally exceptional. Hats off to the chef for crafting refined dishes featuring fresh, local fish. For such an isolated location, the quality of the meals is mind-blowing. Even the cocktails at the bar are thoughtfully crafted—no generic drinks here. The barman was so friendly and added a personal touch to the experience.Getting there was seamless.
The location is great - the only hotel in Tikehau
Very run down, only one option for dinner.Transfer is way to expensive for car with broken seats, No Amenities for our honeymoon

Wonderful place...great staff..amazing views..we had the bungalow beach (much better than openwater, in our personal opinion). Bungalow was great, with your personal hammock just outside.. everything here is great, real pearl..
the motu of the hotel is simply amazing, looks like a paradise tropical postcard, 360°! we stayed in the overwater suite, that was very spacious and beautiful. the water and beaches are spectacular!
the structure is a little old, we had the window-door to the terrace that did not close very well, meaning that the strong wind could pass through with a lot of noise. while the overwater bungalow premium are on a protected side from the wind, our overwater suites (more expensive) were exposed to a really strong wind, that seems very common in July. especially our bungalow placed on the right side was exposed, and got very little sun time. although the wind and sun is not fault of the hotel, a distinction at booking time between bungalows based on exposition would be better, as we really felt like we got the worst bungalow of the whole bunch, for the highest price. we tried to ask to switch to another one, and they told us all were full, but staying there we noticed that a switch would be feasible. if I were to go back to this hotel, I would choose the beach bungalows that are equally lovely and not exposed to the wind. the restaurant was very tasty but it was very expensive for very small portions (and considering that there isn’t any other choice)! and the times of the meals were too short! breakfast at least should start at 6:30.
Beautiful location but a bit outdated, comfortable but too pricy for what you are getting
Menu and quality of food very disappointing, high costs of airport transfer
Only stayed a night as it was our last night before leaving for home but the atmosphere was so beautiful, welcoming, and relaxed. It was really one of our best nights in Tikehau. Water access from the bungalow was just lovely (might be on the shallow side for snorkeling, but we still did!) and the drinks were absolutely excellent. We had dinner here and breakfast as well and loved the options. Food was wonderful both dinner and breakfast. I especially like the reusable water bottles--I typically carry my own but it saved us on our trip back! I liked the easy availability of snorkeling/kayak equipment too. Since we were there for only a short time we did not partake on excursions but it seemed info was readily available. It was very peaceful and pleasant. My friend who only speaks English had an easy time ordering and getting around. I really appreciated the printed times for check out, departure, etc.
The door seemed to sometimes not completely latch--we returned from dinner to an open bungalow, whoops. Either I didn't pull the door hard enough or it didn't latch when the checkout/departure info was dropped off, but all was well. I couldn't get the ceiling fan to go faster, but I also fully realize I didn't ask for assistance. It would be nice to have Wi-Fi in room, but it was easy enough the check up on things over at the bar or a quick wait at dinner.
The staff were very accommodating over other hotels we stayed at in the FP
It would be nice for more food options. I understand that there is only 1 restaurant but for the length we stayed the food got very boring. Having the same options every day got a little old
The water is amazing and the snorkeling is wonderful. Lots of marine life to see. We stayed in the premium overwater suites and the rooms are big and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast good and better than expected.
A couple of staff members were unfriendly and seemed put out when approached but most were very friendly, especially the dinning room ladies.
I loved the remote location of the resort. The staff was extremely friendly and it was very quiet and relaxing. The rooms are a bit outdated, but that is going to be fixed during the remodel over the next couple of years.
I didn't like that the "included transportation" to the resort was charged and not disclosed. If that was included in the "fees/taxes" when booking the room and not a suprise on the final bill, I would have been happier.
A little paradise ! Location is excellentStaff is very nice and welcomingFood is very good !
Hotel will be renovated this year.
Secluded location, hotel staff takes care of all transportation and activities, excellent on-site restaurant.
The breakfast buffet was subpar compared to similar experiences and priced oddly high compared to the reasonable prices of other gourmet meals the hotel chef prepared.
The location of this resort is just magical. The island is so beautiful and pristine. We've dived all around the world, and Tikehau was undoubtedly a highlight. We booked a suite overwater bungalow, and it was very spacious, clean, and cozy. Lots of baby sharks, stingrays and tropical fish swimming around the property all day long - so beautiful! The food at lunch and dinner, yet pricey, was good and fulfilling. The staff is very kind and friendly, especially the waitresses at the restaurant.
The hotel is quite outdated. Compared to Le Bora Bora, the other Pearl resort we were coming from, it was quite a shock to see the difference. Many parts of the hotel are poorly maintained. They are planning a 2-year full renovation which we thought was greatly needed. The breakfast buffet was not what you would expect at that price point. Overall, it feels like a 3-star hotel - at least for now, but can't wait to return when they're done with remodelling!
