Villa Bakti Ubud

Pros +

• 1. Room was excellent 2. Staff was very pleasant 3. Free taxi was provided to Ubud 4. Free limited breakfast
• We had a single room, located next to a swimming pool, outdoor seating area with a table, room for dinner. There were two of those tables close to our room. On the lower level, there was only one other room. We had someone we know staying in that room and it was delightful. Very quiet, no noise from neighbors, no barking dogs. The vegetation was amazingly lush and well kept. The staff was immediately responsive. Text them and they would bring another roll or two of toilet paper… There is a security guard, behind the gated fence, that patrolled the property all evening. We felt very safe. The pool had very cool water, which was a delight to get into after being in the heat of the balinese climate. There were very few mosquitoes, bugs were not a problem.

Cons -

• 1. Many stairs to get to room/bungalow 2. Swimming pool was not available to three of the four residences in the villa 3. Villa was very remote from Ubud (seemingly had to travel down back alleys to get to villa 4. Taxi service from villa expensive
• The property is a little rundown but acceptable to us, given the low price!. The room we stayed in, was one room, and had two doors that did not have glass in the doors. There was a mosquito screen, but no way to contain the climate on the interior. We would leave the air conditioner on, as we left for the day And the room temperature would climb to about 78 or 79°F. During the night, the temperature would get down to a nice 72°F with the air conditioning running. We would turn off the air conditioning in the morning because it was a little cool. The sink in the bathroom had a shelf above it that made it hard to wash our faces. It was doable, but not very convenient. There are a lot of stairs to get to the room, on the lower level, where we stayed. I am a 72 year old male and had no trouble with it, but those with disabilities may find difficulty. Downtown Ubud is a 20 minute to 30 minute cab ride, depending on traffic. It is not particularly close to downtown. The photo of the bathroom, is not the bathroom we stayed in. I would recommend getting an accommodation that has an extra room, to sit in along with a refrigerator and the stove. We stayed about eight days and thought we had ordered that room, but had not.
• It would have been nice if the hottub was heated.
