    Pros +

    • It's a stunning little gem about a ten minute walk from the heart of Ubud. It's nice and quite with beautiful views of the volcano and rice patties. We like walking to the short walk to the road didn't bother us. Can't say enough, the place was perfect for our stay. Will stay there again if we ever go back.
    • The property itself is beautiful
    • Good common area, really friendly staff, big room space

    Cons -

    • The location, to access the hotel you have to walk in a really tight alley, without light… if it rains you are stuck in the hotel basically. There is no access with car
    • TERRIBLE access to the hotel. We thought that we were on the wrong way. It feels like you're entering an alley in a favela. There is a sewer running alongside it throughout the dark path, until the hotel entrance.
    • The rooms are getting old, the walls are dirty. There is damp smell in some rooms and we had a change our room because of that. Soundproofing is not the best. I think we had high expectations after all. The location is also tricky if you are with kids. There is a walk from the street starting with a slope and continues with very narrow sidewalk next to the water channel.

We stayed at Gynandha Ubud Cottage, and it was by far the nicest place we stayed in Bali. The rooms were stunning, with massive and comfortable beds and a huge balcony overlooking the beautiful surroundings. Everything was spotless and really well maintained. The pool was absolutely stunning, and the whole resort felt so quiet and tranquil, with hardly anyone around – it was like having our own private oasis. The staff were lovely – warm, attentive, and always happy to help. Breakfast was fresh and tasty every morning, and the location was perfect: peaceful but still within walking distance to the centre of Ubud.It was also excellent value for money – a great price for such a high standard. The combination of stunning rooms, beautiful grounds, and incredible tranquillity made it feel like true luxury without the luxury price tag.Gynandha Ubud Cottage was easily the highlight of our trip and the best place we stayed in Bali. Highly recommend.

Staff is amazing, trying to help as much as they can to make to comfortable.

    Villa is beautiful and quiet.

Car can not drive to the property. You have to walk (5 min)

Beautiful hotel & location overlooking the rice paddies, the staff went above and beyond. Really lovely warung you can walk to in the rice paddies. Gorgeous pool and absolutely huge bed! Smoothie bowl and fresh fruit in the morning was delicious. Central location

Breakfast had minimal choices for vegetarians but staff cater to requests. Bit of a slight walk from the main road but staff helped us with our bags. Unfortunately we had noisy neighbours next door which woke us up very early every morning due to the thin walls.

The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The property’s smaller size creates a more personal experience, making you feel truly valued as a guest. They go out of their way to ensure that everything meets your needs. The location is fantastic—right in the heart of the center, yet tucked away just enough to provide a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. The rooms were also lovely, offering both comfort and quality.

The breakfast was very basic and not particularly enjoyable, so we opted to have breakfast outside after the first day.The path leading to the hotel was challenging. It passed through a very dirty alley with questionable individuals who seemed to be selling cement or similar materials. Worse still, the narrower path was poorly lit and only accessible on foot or by scooter. Unfortunately, I slipped on this path, which led to an injury requiring a visit to the doctor. While this was partly due to my distraction from an approaching scooter, the condition of the path certainly contributed to the accident. When we arrived, the bed sheets were dirty, but upon requesting a change, the staff immediately addressed the issue.

Absolutely stunning accommodation, close to the shopping in Ubud but situated back off the road and feels like you are in the forrest. The food was really good and so cheap. Would definitely stay here again

    nothing, it was perfect

Lovely hotel close to the centre of UBud yet away from the noise and bustle of the town. Relaxing pools and breakfast was first class. You can walk out the back of the hotel straight into the rice fields and there are some lovely walks you can make from the hotel. Staff were great and attention to detail was spot on.

Shower in a stand up bath was a bit precarious and water went everywhere after taking a shower.

The hotel grounds were lovey and clean. All the staff were very friendly.

It was a bit of a steep hill to climb to get up to the hotel.

    9CharmainePosted on: 4-27-2025

The grounds were so lush and the pools were nice and refreshing in the heat. The staff was super attentive and helpful, always with a genuine smile! Loved how close it was to downtown Ubud and the art market.

We loved everything about this property. So peaceful but so close to everything. Beautiful rooms, grounds and staff. I can’t wait to go back! The staff there are such beautiful people, we were well looked after.

The access may be difficult for some people as you need to walk up a hill and along a small walkway but wasn’t a problem at all for us.

    10LisaPosted on: 4-25-2025

Very peaceful but so close to everything. The gardens and pool area are beautiful. Beautiful spacious rooms.

    10LisaPosted on: 4-25-2025

We loved everything about this property. The staff are so lovely, very clean spacious rooms with nice high ceilings. Every room looks out to the beautiful gardens and pool. It’s peaceful and a perfect location. So close to Ubud shops as well as a nice walk through the rice fields. We love this property and will go back again.

I wanted a villa but with staff in case I had questions to plan my daily journeys. The cottage was very clean with large bedrooms, beds, and bathrooms. It overlooked the rice fields and volcano. It was absolutely relaxing and worth every rupiah. There was a simple kitchen and a second floor yoga spot that also overlooked the rice fields. It was very private! But the best part were the staff. They were so helpful and nice. They helped us book our activities and went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant stay. There was a simple restaurant where we could eat if we preordered a meal in the morning or evening. The food was very good. I highly recommend and hope to return. Conveniently located. Can walk into shops and restaurants. Awesome Indian restaurant minutes away. Sampai jumpa lagi!

Reviews taked about the walk way to the property but it was a fine trade off for the view!

    9JanePosted on: 4-19-2025

It was set away in a quiet location, but easy access to the shops and restaurants.

Pretty gardens and pool area. Comfortable and spacious bed rooms.

Wonderful hotel. So quiet and tranquil. The staff were absolutely lovely and the breakfast was delicious. Gorgeous room with a super comfy bed.

Great location on the rice fields and very conveniently close to the Main Street in Ubud, without any of the noise or hustle and bustle. Felt like a world away from it. The hotel meals were tasty and good value. Pools, day beds and lounges, plus the gardens were gorgeous and lovely to relax in.

    8EliPosted on: 4-13-2025

Quiet with a beautiful swimming pool and gardens. A nice place to relax and yet not far from the main street

The 300+ meter walk to the hotel since cars cannot get there
