    Pros +

    • The best thing about this hotel was the setting.
    • Everything perfectly adequate for a short stay in Ubud
    • We loved the stunning hotel complex, discounted and AMAZING spa services, cleanliness of our room, and overall location in walking distance to some shops and sight-seeing. The staff was all incredibly friendly and we would totally go back! Breakfast was also delicious and had tons of local and western options.

    Cons -

    • For a $--- aud room it was a shocker. Old and outdated. Our check in was at 1pm but we're told its not ready till 2pm. Food discounts do not apply if you are sitting 10 meters away in the lounge area. Thanks but I can't recommend.
    • Lots of stairs too and from each of the hotel amenities, restaurant, pool, room.
    • There is nothing I don’t like about this hotel except the bath with shower over the top , but they are doing upgrades this year so I am happy to return to experience this new fit , so long as they don’t lose the views from the room !!

The resort is beautiful. We booked for the character of the hotel. Love that it was so connected to nature and rich in culture. Lots of stairs, but we loved it.

Rooms were dated, however they are in the process of renovations. Can't wait to see the rooms refreshed. Was difficult to get a drink at the pool bar as it was rarely staffed.

This historic hotel is full of atmosphere, beautiful Balinese architecture & gorgeous staff who make you feel welcome from the moment you step out of your vehicle. The rooms are exceptional, beds are very comfortable and views of jungle & river noise in background was a sleep app on it’s own Just a short walk from Ubud central which is also perfect so you don’t get caught I Ubud traffic snarl The manager Gusti looks after the property like it’s his own home.Won’t stay anywhere else in Ubud

The spa under hotel is fantastic

Wifi did not work in room, had to sit outside, tv reception was like watching a snow storm, water dripping from a/c all through the room, toilet hose leaking, faucet was not fixed to sink.... After 2 days of maintenance coming in and out of room they figured out the problems, and that was the room that had just been updated 2 months prior

The view in the forest and the river was fantastic, it's more beautiful than you could dream. The 2 pools are very clean and the water quality was very good. Everything was great, the friendly staff, the breakfast and the comfortable bungalow. ???

    Beautiful gardens and view.

On main road, very noisy. Trucks, motorbikes. Very noisy at breakfast with traffic noise.

    8KaushikPosted on: 4-27-2025

Location and ambience - the villas are nice facing forest and river flowing below ! Very quiet and peaceful.

The room a/c is not very effective in cooling the room.

All the staff were kind and gentle, caring. The breakfast buffet was good with tropical fruits but it could be better. The location was good.Enough close to city centre by walking distance. The first room that they gave to us was not good after we said they changed it.

The hotel generally need a good renovation. It is iconic hotel but is very old.The pool tiles are broken even in the kids part and it cut my daughters fingers and toes. There is another pool but it's like abandoned and is spring pool so nobody use it.The pool is soo deep and small sized and it wasn't clean&clear at all.

First of all we were put into a room with work going on next door and no hot water. Next morning we were given a new room. The place is old but authentic Bali. Third time staying there and this time noticed it needs a facelift.

Historically significant building with spectacular views of the mountains and river. The setting for the hotel is breathtaking.

Older people may have difficulty with the gradient and stairs in moving about the hotel. Staff require better training as to being proactive in the restaurant - removing plates, asking if you would like tea/coffee, basic stuff in my view. Our room was poorly lit in the bathroom and the bathroom was in need of renovation. We were also missing some basic stuff like hand towels and face washers but overall, given its a 3 star hotel, these were minor inconveniences. The pool also need a bit of sprucing up.

    7markPosted on: 3-31-2025

location of hotel was good lot of stairs not good for elderly people or wheel chairs ect

i didnt like when the people were drinking around the pool till early hours of the morning and the staff were not very good at sorting the problem out. there were guests that were not happy with all the noise they will probably never return back to this hotel for that reason so please be aware if there are people running amok to all hours the hotel seems to do nothing about it we are talking 3.50 in the morning

Breakfast selection was awesome, fresh and tasty with good variety. Resort location was handy to town and attractions. Ssaff were attentive and obliging.

Rooms and facilities were old and tired for the costs involved. Our room was damp and musty smelling, doors sticking and hard to lock. Bath and shower hard to access and tiles and enamel badly stained. Pool needs tiles replaced and spring pool has uneven paving and needs better/safer access - step into water too high for safe water access.

You feel like you are in the jungle, but so close to the center of Ubud. Very nice rooms. Very nice spa.

Beautiful property from another era. Fascinating look and feel with lots of twists and turns (steps!) Only 10-15 minutes walk from town. Great breakfast and stunning views over the valley.

A little worn down, but renovations underway. A lot of noise from next door room, so thin walls I guess.

    10EmilyPosted on: 3-17-2025

This was our 3rd visit to hotel tjampuhan spa. We love the lush green setting looking down to the river and it was well worth the room upgrade to have a higher up room to see the view of trees. It is so peaceful here and easy to walk into town in 10 minutes. The breakfast buffet has lots of choices, and different options each day with a chef cutting fresh fruit non stop and an egg station. All the staff are so welcoming, the spa grotto an amazing attraction. We will be back!
