Entrance, lobby, property setting and view was gorgeous. Pool is so beautiful

Food and drinks way too expensive! Definitely purchase the meal plan in advance, there no where else around to eat. Tub is lightweight fiberglass, cheap. Didn''t work.

We received excellent service from the staff at this beautiful location. Ishan and Sampath were especially attentive to our needs and ensured we had an excellent visit. They took excellent care of us and even took extra effort to provide what we needed when one of our group was sick. The food was excellent, the service was helpful and the setting is beautiful, making it an excellent place to experience the wonderful country. The Sri Lankan food experience here is excellent and an absolute must.

Room was not well cleaned. We found items from previous guests under the bed. Buffet food and breakfast were not good at all. Items were cold and not tasty, even the Sri Lankan style ones. Ordered ala carte the next day but again were disappointed with the food quality. The AC of the room above outs was so loud that we had trouble falling asleep. Overall you can hear everything from the next room due to connecting doors in all the double-rooms. There were several big groups in the hotel during our stay, which overcrowded the place and staff seemed busy with these groups and we had to ask several times for everything. For such a nice place with a high price point (compared to close by options) it is a shame that it’s not better managed.

Under staffed, no pool bar. All orders were very late, food was good but timing could be better. Sri Lanka has amazing hospitality wherever we went but somehow found the friendliness a bit less in this place. SPA was not the best so best to save your money there.

The hotel is beautiful, clean the stuff are so nice and helpful. The food in breakfast and dinner was amazing. The pool was so nice we enjoyed it very much.

Large and beautiful resort with great rooms. The pool is absolutely incredible - heated, huge, views of Lion’s Rock and food/drinks service. The hotel staff are wonderful and very keen to help. There are so many lovely small touches, like a complimentary fresh fruit bowl delivered to the room after arrival. There are multiple restaurant options for dinner, we tried the buffet and Chinese restaurants which were excellent. Breakfast buffet is the best we’ve seen amongst hotels in Sri Lanka.

We enjoyed our stay. The resort and the rooms are generous. Everything is very clean. And the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely two night stay at Aliya where we visited Sigiriya rock and the cave temples as well as relaxing in the hotel. The buffet dinner and breakfast were really good and we also had a special meal at the Sri Lankan restaurant. The pool was unforgettable and the spa was very good and great value. We would definitely stay again.

Location, service, cleanliness

Big, clean and safe first stop in Sri Lanka

Felt like a big tourist hotel with lots of tour groups and buses, so lacked personality. We stayed in one of the wooden chalets and didn’t have a big enough hot water tank for two showers.

All rooms are well hidden in the garden but the foliage is taking over and no views at all.The client/room manager, Chirath. (We booked for 3 nights, however there was a problem with our room after checking in. Chirath could not have done more to rectify this and ensure it did not detract from our stay)

The building is well hidden amongst the natural beauty of the area(thank goodness as it is a big property,90+ rooms with a stylish modern concept), however as lovely as the rooms are there are no views leaving you feeling disconnected from the glorious countryside.The setting is beautiful but many rooms are a distance from the public areas and at night lighting is poor.There are many large tour groups using the property giving it the feeling of a stop over.No map of the layout and on arrival no introduction of where and what.Other than our interaction with a manager it was very impersonal.The staff were all professional, attentive and smart however many were trainees and unable to engage with guests. Some trainee staff on reception were unable to assist as they did not speak English.This said Chirath was exceptional and striving to ensure the property gains its status and reputation.
