    Pros +

    • Loved the location in the jungle and the sense of being completely isolated.
    • Nimal the property manager and his staff were great during our stay, and overall, we felt very taken care of. When we had trouble getting a tuk tuk via pickme/uber to get around, Nimal would help us get that sorted. No matter how late we got back, they'd always have someone waiting for us in the main concierge area to make sure everything's ok and get our breakfast order. When Nimal learned we were traveling to Ella on the day of checkout, he informed the kitchen staff and prepare a snack (delicious AND amazingly packaged sandwiches and bananas) and water for our travel. We'd stay here again!
    • A very beautiful and peaceful location. Sigiriya town about 10 minute drive.Every villa totally private surrounded by trees and vegetation. You can watch the monkeys passing by from your bed!

    Cons -

    • The staff were generally not very helpful or engaged. Not very informative about the local sites or activities and not proactive in helping organise these for us - despite the accommodation being in the cultural triangle. It would also be good to have actual floor to ceiling black out blinds because the blinds in the room do nothing to block out the light, resulting in 5am wake ups. Not fun!
    • Very potholed rutted road to the property. Could have been made worse by the recent rains.
    • The location was fabulous and rooms are amazing. The staff was super attentive. But not worth for the price. At $500/room, you are better off at a different hotel. After coming from Galle Face (CMB), Uga Jungle (Trinco) and Leopard Trails (Wilpaththu), in comparison, the Wild Grass rooms are worth about $200-$250 range and the food is worth 1/4 of what Wild Grass is charging. The Lion lagers 2X what they are charging at other 5 star hotels. They try too hard and reek of desperation, and it is 5 star price for 2 star quality at best. They are always trying to bait and switch and roping guests into the dinner buffet, with the worst one being the New Years one at $90/person. Honestly, I had a better buffet at a street side hotel for <$10/person. I think they realized the ridiculousness of it all when they discounted it at checkout to $35/person. Having read their reviews, I'm sure they'll go on the defensive and respond, but I hope they know this is my opinion and they need to respect it. I hope they invest the energy into visiting some 5 start hotels and learning 5 start service or at least lowering the price.

In the middle of beautiful jungle forest, but still close enough to all the important sights this region has to offer. The staff are impeccable and super friendly, the food was great, and they helped to arrange all our trips whilst there. It’s a serene place that for anyone wanting to disconnect in a feast of greenery and warm hospitality, it’s perfect.

Nothing, all was good. Anyone wanting super reliable high speed WiFi shouldn’t expect it in the middle of a jungle.

Like the name suggests it was truly amdist the wild, raw yet luxurious. The staff were very kind and accommodating and Nimal was such a great host and we truly felt very cared and loved by his hospitality , made us feel like home. We will definitely visit again on our next trip to Srilanka.

There is nothing that i disliked.

This was our 4th visit to Wild Grass and once more it didn't disappoint. Loved everything!Wild Grass is absolutely stunning and so peaceful. The villas are very modern but sympathetic to the surroundings and so spacious. AC was very efficient. And the bathroom!!! Loved it, especially the outdoor shower.Since our last visit some of the villas now have pools overlooking the lake. I'm so glad we decided to go with one of these rooms. The staff and Mr Nimal all went out of their way to be helpful.

There was honestly nothing that we didn't like.

I love how the hotel is isolated from everything.A great experience to stay at the woods.Very friendly staff.

A lot of mosquitoes. Less activities to do at the hotel.Far from everything.

We had a fantastic stay as a family. We booked the 3 floor villa with a plunge pool. The quality of the accommodation was exceptional with views over the lake. It was very peaceful and the staff went out of the way to be helpful. The food for breakfast was lovely and dinner had a good selection given it is a small restaurant. Would definitely come again.

Fantastic stay, we decided to add an additional night we enjoyed ourselves so much. The hotel manager/owner? Nimal was superb, he made us feel welcome and was available 24/7. We had some issues with a scooter we rented and he came with his team to where we were stranded to resolve. The whole team went above and beyond for us.Out of all rge locations we stayed in Sri Lanka, the food here topped the list. Absolutely delicious and fresh from their garden, be sure to ask for a tour!A great place to end the trip

Cocktail menue is small, which is fine. However the two cocktails we ordered were not available due to lack of ingredients which for such a small menu one would expect all cocktails are available

Wild Grass is a must-visit! This is one of the few resorts I’ve been to where you get an up close and personal interaction with nature. My villa overlooked beautiful forest land all around me, and the pathways leading up to the villa and reception were so immersive. Most of all, they built a lot of anticipation about what the villa would like the first time I walked up because they are so well hidden from pathways and the other villas. The staff were so helpful in attending to all my needs, and service was constantly with a smile. The manager checked in with me before my stay to see if I had any special requests, which I’ve rarely experienced elsewhere. The food is incredible! I was worried about the spice levels in the food because I don’t handle it so well, but they made sure to tame it down for me, and it was great! It was wonderful to see how happy they were for me to try local cuisine, and with the taste, there’s no reason not to.The villa itself was bigger than any hotel I’ve ever been to. I enjoyed lovely Sri Lankan tea in my private living room and got to experience nature from my villa. We went on a guided rock tour, which was great to soak in the views of the property and the surroundings. We even saw Sigiriya Lion Rock from up there. All in all, I would highly recommend staying here. The villas are tastefully designed and spacious, the food is just mouthwatering, and the staff are amicable and attentive. You can’t ask for more.

I had a nice stay and have nothing negative to say.

We had a wonderful stay, especially on such short notice! Nimal and his team went the extra mile to ensure we were looked after. The villa was incredible, placing you right in the centre of nature and on each walk to the restaurant, we saw beautiful birds and even a peacock! My wife and I were both treated to the famous Sri Lankan hospitality, as mentioned by our friends who visited this beautiful country and hats off to the chef for producing mouthwatering food! The chef even taught us how to make pol roti, a delicious breakfast item in Sri Lanka. We wish we booked more days as the resort offers so much! We will certainly recommend this beautiful resort to our friends and even come back here. Thanks, Wild Grass team for the memorable stay!

It was a holiday in cozy comfort, but in communion with the wild! The main attraction for me was the extensive glass doors and walls that made me feel that the jungle is just a door away. We were able to see a mouse deer, a monitor lizard and a wild fowl on our way to the restaurant. We went to bed listening to the calls of cicadas and frogs, and woke up to the sounds of birds. The well-furnished deluxe villa has a generous living area, with its high roof and comfortable furniture. The air-conditioned bedroom is spacious and provided with a large bed. Besides an ensuite toilet-bathroom combine, the villa is provided with an outdoor open shower (full privacy). The resort has a clean, though a bit small, swimming pool. The restaurant offers comfortable seating and a good view all around. The menu on offer was discussed with us in advance by the very efficient and polite property manager Mr. Nimal Tennakoon. The restaurant also offered a choice of red and white wines, besides assorted beer and liquor.

The Internet was slow. No bathtub in the bathroom, and water from the shower just lukewarm (though not a big issue, considering the climate). You need to keep the doors closed to keep uninvited guests such as monkeys, squirrels (daytime) and bugs (in the night).

We had a wonderful time while staying at this beautiful gem retreat hidden in the forest. First off, a sincere thank you to the staff and manager Nimal at Wild Grass for accommodating our late arrival in the evening and dinner arrangement. The hospitality of the staff is beyond our expectation. The Villa we stayed was contemporary, modern and spacious with surrounding glass interiors that let us feel so close to nature. Since the time we arrived there, the staff attended to all our requirements instantly. The service was just outstanding and the food was very tasty. We were so sad that we didn’t have time to extend our stay at this resort by a few more nights, but we will undoubtedly return for a longer stay the next time. Such a beautiful, serene, and peaceful setting for a vacation.

    Nothing at all!

Beautiful grounds and secluded location. This hotel has stunning modern lodges with beautiful interior and incredible outdoor showers and pool. The food was delicious - the best we ate in Sri Lanka. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They connected us with a nice driver who showed us the area and told us the history with his exceptional English. His name is Wasantha and he made our travel so smooth and easy - contact him on +94 77 210 4205.

Not a single bad thing about this gem!

House was okay, but not like on the pictures. Staff in the restaurant was friendly.

Arrived in evening, so we didn't see anything - we asked for the pool and the manager said it is ok. went to the pool. next day we saw the pool -was really dirty, you couldn't see the ground or your feet in there. the manager said that he has no chemicals for the pool. because of that we didn't use the pool again and wanted to stay in the room. not possible, because it was to hot. we know about the problems with diesel/fuel and the powet cuts, but they have a generator. we asked to activate it for using the AC but they said theres no fuel for that. In the evening they had fuel for everything. Room wasn't clean and they didn't cleaned it on the next day. On the second day we talked to the manager but they didn't do anything. It isn't how it look likes on the pics and for us there was no relaxing. For this priceclass this is not okay, also the marketing manager said this. They didn't give us money back, so we paid more than 430 dollars for two nights without pool (or deseases from the using?) and no AC. Manager was really unfriendly. Never again.

Nice facilities, good build quality, very nice villas

location is a bit far off the shot from Sigiriya, access not easy. staff was nice but not outstanding, appear slightly mechanical and not family-run

Beautiful property in the heart of nature. Our villa was just magical.A delicious dinner was served to us in the villa and we had breakfast on a beautiful terrace surrounded by nature.Waking up to the sounds of songs of Buddhist priests and drinking morning tea on the terrace surrounded by pure nature and watching the rabbits running is something I will remember forever.I thank from the bottom of my heart the wonderful staff of this truly special place.
