Royal Retreat Sigiriya

There is nothing to like about it as the hosts over there are not humans. They don't accept the booking.com prices and do over billing. And if you ask for booking.com rates they starts fighting.

Didn't like the scammers sitting on the reception.

A little dark at night

Main purpose of visit was to climb Sigiriya Rock. The hotel is close, only a couple kilometers and 5-7 minute Tuk ride. Excellent location. Staff were warm, friendly, effective and wonderful. The manager, Mr. Roshan and front desk clerk, Dilki, were lovely. Mr. Rashan had worked in major hotels in Dubai and provided OUTSTANDING, attentive customer service, helping to arrange Tuks to Sigiriya and Pidurangala, identifying a train to return to Colombo and calling local train station to confirm schedule. Truly outstanding customer service.

Great property very close to the Sigiriya Lion Rock and great base for safari - very nice property but the staff made it very special for use, no request was too much, great food, clean rooms, we will definitely come back!

Front desk staff were not that helpful, we had to change the room 3 times, 1st room shower was broken, 2nd room roof was leaking.Pool was dirty and front desk staff was unhelpful while check in, had so much issues with checking in

Really friendly staff and good location. The shower would often overflow and not the cleanest bathroom.

Room needs better furniture

The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Gave many tips and helped us plan our days. Rooms were big and clean. Unfortunately during low season at the moment (april), there were no other guest which made it less cozy. And we could not use the Pool due to maintenance.

Nice location with green environment

Room and outdoor ( pool) cleanness is very poor

Its a little remote but a nice stroll around area. More importantly they have an Austin 7 (old car) at the entrance. Only 3 in Sri Lanka I'm told. We ended up getting 3 rooms which all different, some huge, some not. The Hotel restaurant was very convenient.

Hate writing a negetive. Staff were great- pleasant, etc. Management could do better re towels in room and daily water

While the property itself has a tranquil setting with beautiful gardens, our experience was mixed.The hotel grounds are spacious, peacefulThe front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful ! Especially Bandara who had excellent communication skills and helped us plan two fantastic days. Thanks to him, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in the area. Big thanks to Bandara, the hotel is very fortunate to have you. Overall, while the setting and staff made our stay enjoyable, the room conditions and value for money did not meet expectations. With some improvements in cleanliness and written information of communication, this could be a fantastic place to stay.

The room, while spacious needs some well needed TLC. Dim lighting, persistent musty smell, towels a little tired. Meal service was unclear, having clear written information in English would be helpful.

Nice location and good pool

No towels at the pool. Noisy in the room due to being next to storage area so staff banging and talking plus cleaning the roof in the afternoon. Breakfast should have been offered and included for the price.

Oshita really made our stay so special here - from fixing our shower to taking us on elephant safari! He was so helpful and friendly

The staff and the location were good. The pool and the garden are nice and taken care of.

We reserved room for 3 nights, but on the first night they said they were booked, and had to transfer us to a very bad room, much older, smaller and no AC - compared to what we booked. The other two nights we had the room we booked and it was good.Breakfast totally not worth the price, much better option is to eat outside.

Pool was not cleaned and the Biljardbord was unclean and couldn’t touch. Otherwise PERFECT.
