Insight Resort Ahangama

Staff was wonderful, price was amazing for the amenities. Room was perfect! My kids loved the pool!

I really enjoyed my stay at Insight Resort, Ahangama. From the moment I arrived, the customer service was outstanding – the staff were friendly, helpful, and always attentive. The rooms and property were spotless, reflecting the resort’s high standards of cleanliness. The breakfast was fresh and delicious, with a good variety to start the day.What I loved most was the easy access to the beautiful beach and the perfectly maintained swimming pool, which was always at just the right temperature for a refreshing dip. The resort also offers plenty of recreational activities like carrom board, volleyball, water polo, and more – which made the stay even more enjoyable and lively.Overall, a fantastic experience with the perfect mix of relaxation and fun. Highly recommend Insight Resort to anyone visiting Ahangama!

Disturbing hotel management cleaning practices

Disturbance by Staff: On multiple occasions, the cleaning staff entered the room around 7:00 PM without permission, even stepping out onto the balcony and asking if everything was alright. We reported this incident to the hotel manager and also highlighted the inappropriate behavior of the cleaning personnel. Unfortunately, the manager defended the staff and attempted to justify this unusual practice as an “international practice” requiring rooms to be cleaned twice a day—once in the morning and once in the evening.We were traveling as a group, and every room experienced similar issues. Although the hotel is located in a very beautiful area, these concerns must be addressed urgently. It is giving customer message that our goods are not safe and secure. A good place to start could be with a change in management. Until these issues are resolved, we are not recommending this hotel.

Breakfast was fantastic and great value for money. Very friendly and helpful staff and quite close to cool places in town.

The location

It looks and feels old hotel, it is definitely not a resort The WiFi disconnected all the time. The first room I got was terrible and the second was decent.. but still not worth the money

Furnitures were old, small toilets and hot in the hallways to reach rooms, food is ok

This hotel is in a great location in the town . We could walk to shops and restaurants easily. On arrival we received fruit juice and a head/shoulder massage. On leaving, we received coconut candy.Our room was small, but clean with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. We were on the top floor and there are no elevators so it was a bit of a trek up and down.The pool was extremely clean and well maintained. There were plenty of comfortable sun loungers under the trees and around the pool. Note - you cannot wear a T-shirt in the pool.There was a good selection of western and Sri Lankan food for breakfast. Unfortunately there were lots of flies on the food despite being in a separate room with a closed door.I would definitely stay at this hotel again as it was a relaxing end to our busy two week travel around Sri Lanka.

Location was excellent for surfing Marshmellows, Sticks, and Insights. The dinner package was excellent value and breakfast buffet a huge range. Pool was clean entire time. The dinner menu had a great range of European options and was wonderfully cooked, as well as the local cuisine. ATM across the road handy and shops 50m down the road.

Would be great to have room service for when you arrived jet lagged and have to wait until 7.30pm for dinner. Also some sushi type lunch options

We had a very comfortable stay in Insight Resort.The hotel was clean, had all necessary facilities and in a very good location. The beach is beautiful and quiet.I would like just to say that the staff in the hotel was outstanding, always very helpful and welcoming!!! They made us feel very special and very well looked after.The breakfast was tasty and with a good choice of food. The barman served us always with beautiful cocktails and juices.We had a great few days.

Room was spacious and clean

Pool is very small, triple room inconvenient when traveling with small children as the beds are separate singles. Breakfast was disappointing and a lot of flies as you eat on the veranda. Staff not incredibly friendly Overpriced for what it is

great location , had to upgrade to a Sea view room which was good at US 20 per night extra

Standard room is poor , with very bad aircondioning in an other wise a Dark room . Do not book this . Sea view room is worth the extra to spend . Beach front but beach very rough with very strong undercurrents . probably ok if you don't go out further than your Belly

Really nice private access to the beach. Attentive and friendly staff. Nice pool area. Close to some cute coffee places.

Some of the hotel could do with a bit of TLC and was a bit dated.

The people!! I was literally treated like a queen, nothing was too much trouble, the staff went above and beyond!! Room (delux sea view) was stunning with picture windows. Lovely pool and direct access to beach. Short stroll to shops on Main Street. Food was exceptional, had half board and dinners were amazing as was the breakfast buffet. Dinners accompanied by local musicians. Perfect stay!

Tv didn’t work but there was better views to be had through the windows ?

The resort has its own beach. It is conveniently located in Ahangama not far from some of the best restaurants/bars/cafes (but note that everything closes at 10pm). The staff, like most people of Sri Lanka, is wonderful (smiling, easy going, and helpful). If you ride, you can rent a scooter at a place nearby and explore other beaches and places around. If you book a day before you can have yoga with a very nice instructor overlooking the sea.

It is not good value for money compared to other properties, it is overpriced. It looks better on the photos than in reality. We booked a sea view room, but were given a room with only partial sea views (it looked at another building) and were told that it was fully booked. The food is nothing to write home about (better food elsewhere in Ahangama). It’s for people with kids as there’s a pool and an easily accessible beach.

Location , beautiful beach , great restaurant, super helpful friendly staff . Melvin is an excellent employee , he arranged an awesome BBQ dinner on the beach .
