The location and the beach

Not very clean , need much maintenance, the food in the breakfast and the dinner need improvement ( I didn’t try the lunch).

The staff were very friendly!

The facilities and rooms are outdated and poorly maintained.The beach is not in the good side of unawatuna.The food.

A lovely cute boutique hotel located close to the main Unatwatuna street, perfect for couples. The best and most comfortable bed with a good sized room, amazing view and the jacuzzi in the room was just the icing on the cake! The taste of food is something they should work on, as we ate a lot of meals here and most of the times ordered the same food but it was made differently everytime. Apart from that, no other feedback, everything was GREAT- we really cant wait to be back!

the staff is sometimes too tender or basically most of the time,you don't have any freedom they are just looking behind your back or straight to your face how you are drinking or eating, it feels so uncomfortable, no music around the pool during the day so it's a very boring hotel .,

Limited choices in breakfast . Staff less engaging than with other hotels we stayed at .

The location, beach proximity and the room at ground floor allowed us to have a relaxed time while having a toddler in tow.

The staff in general seemed to be not trained well enough in being guest oriented. For example, aggressive upselling on room, meal plans and ensuring payment is done upfront left me feeling a bit less welcomed. Usual cleanup request tool follow-ups. Although the staff was courteous and polite but in general we felt they were not keeping guest experience at the center of all their interactions.

The staff was wonderful and responsive to our requests. The food in general and the morning breakfast in particular was excellent. The accommodation was very good. Despite the one critique below I would highly recommend this hotel.

We were unaware that there were renovations at the hotel during our stay. We should have been informed of it beforehand.

We had a lovely top floor room with amazing view. The private beach was great and felt very secluded. The spa was a welcome treat.

We had just one night in the Hotel and because of that we arrived very early in the morning. Of course we didn’t expect that the room will be finish- but the staff was super friendly and arranged a room for us. The reason they told us was that we will stay just for one night and should enjoy the room as long as possible. Great! Additional: I had a surfing lesson from the lifeguard. That was super professional for an average price level. In the evening we booked the private grill diner next to the beach. That was very, very good. The quality of the meat was extraordinary. The Chef Cooker Samarajeewa and his colleague Rag presented us a lovely evening with a lot of interesting talks about Sri Lanka.

We extended our stay 3 times, everything here is perfect.The staff , the rooms and the beach it’s amazing.Just a few minutes away from Unawatuna beach .

We enjoyed our return visit to Cocobay. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a lovely setting with sea views. Some areas of the hotel are looking a bit tired, but that was our only concern.

Loved this hotel! It was very quiet but close enough to shops and restaurants and just a short tuk tuk ride from Galle Fort. It is situated on its own private beach. The room and bathroom were huge, comfortable and clean. Would stay again!

Front office just seems dodgy and felt like they’re trying to rip you off. Paid way too much for taxi to next destination booked through Reception and then said I needed to pay them? Make of that what you wish. Also we had a pool room, actual room great but we had room 2 which means you have to swim through the pool to reach the sunbeds allocated to your room, however you cannot get out of the pool as there are no steps on that side. Therefore sunbeds unusable. So unless in your booked into room one or three, don’t bother booking a private pool room.

Cocobay Hotel : One Week January 2025 We had a wonderful stay in this fantastic place with its location with a quiet beach, a tropical environment all around, and a top hotel (in its comfort, its services, and especially by all the staff: the reception, the kitchens (excellent dishes), wonderfull room services, Wonderfull restaurant service (smile to Upul), Top managers (thanks dedicated to Buddhika). Without forgetting the precious massage from Vidula, who put my back back in place following a fall down while getting off a Bus :) The kindness, the smiles, the availability and the human exchanges that we were able to have with this Dream Team will remain engraved in our heart. Spacious room, accommodating staff, easy with baby. Nice sea view.

Room not thoroughly cleaned (dust under bed and desk, etc). Beach directly in front of the hotel is not especially nice.

The room was very large with jacuzzi on balcony. Beds were comfy and the food was excellent. Staff all very helpful and friendly. The hotel was secluded and therefore beach just had hotel guests.

There was a noise in the morning that started at 4 am. We did complain and the hotel staff made sure it didn’t start until 6 am. I am a light sleeper.

We were disappointed of our visit here looking at the price performance ratio. The hotel looks like it’s not getting well maintained. The whole place was kinda dark.We hoped for the beach but this wasn’t a option after a local told us that they wouldn’t swim there due to river next to it - which makes sense in the end.The breakfast was definitely not worth 30€ for two persons.

Great location for proximity to Galle but sea not as clear as further down the coast.

I couldn’t recommend this lovely hotel more: the facilities, the private beach, the delicious food and the welcoming staff made our stay a fantastic one. It is also far from all the business of Unawatuna so you can enjoy some silence; however, if you do want a chance of scenery and want to experience the crowds, it is like a 20 min walk or a 5 min tuk tuk ride.

Everything was great, nothing negative to add.

Staff are really welcoming and friendly. Rooms are spacious and clean. View of the private beach was lovely.

Nothing but possibly some music in the evening to make guests stay in the hotel bar
