The location and ease of the skiing was amazing.

dinner reservations were really hard if you didn't plan way in advance, and the staff was pretty rigid.

rooms were really spacious with fantastic view. Very clean.

Spa is a little far from the room we stayed. Up and down a lot.

The fancy western an japanese restaurants on the top floor were excellent, the building is in great shape, the onsen is very nice, and the location adjecent to the lifts is excellent.

The breakfast buffet was not as good as others i’ve had in Japan. It was fine but other buffets are excellent.

Location is terrific, ski-in, ski-out. Nice ski locker facility on the ground floor. Staff was very accommodating and gracious. Breakfast was good if not great. The onsen facility was terrific.

Our room was a little wonky (odd hall with an elevated bathroom at the end, but we were at the very end of the hotel, so that may have been a factor. The hotel is a little dated, and the hotel restaurants are over priced.

Proximity to ski area and snow activities

Of all the hotels in Japan we’ve stayed in, this is the only one where we encountered grumpy staff. Also, if you arrive past 11PM, there is absolutely nowhere to buy food or water. Convenience store at ground floor closes by 11PM. Nearest konbini is Lawson some 7 away.

The staff were courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean and big. The toiletries were adequate. The access to the ski area was convenient. The Wi-Fi network was good!

Compared to some other smaller hotels which offered fairly extensive food variety for their breakfast buffet menu, Shin Prince Furano could have offered more variety of food given that it is a big hotel.

Excellent Dinner buffet. We are great fans of KITA NO KUNI KARA, the TV series, so really enjoyed the panel exhibits in the lobby of the hotel. Also, the little museum and famous location of that series and of another series, YASASHII JIKAN were right on the hotel grounds. We felt like we were in the TV series !Beautiful place to relax and take a hot spring bath, and enjoy a walk in the wooded area surrounding the hotel.

Unfortunately, no regular restaurants near the hotel except the Mori no Tokei coffee shop for a meal.Hotel restaurants were expensive so would have liked regular restaurants to have a meal in instead of only high end buffet and izakaya. Had to travel into town if we wanted a regular restaurant, and the Lavender Bus, which is very convenient, stops running early in the evening, so would have to take a taxi up to the resort.

We loved EVERYTHING!! There was so much to do on the grounds that it was too much to tackle with just a two night stay. From the spacious and comfortable room to the great food at every eatery we tried to the friggin hot air balloon rides to the onsen to the forest village of crafty artists... Seriously, there isn't enough time to do it all. But I guess that's how they get you... You just HAVE to come back to tick more stuff off your to-do list. And this is only the summer activities, too. I can only imagine how much fun this place is during the various other seasons. This place was legitimately magical.

One complaint of mine is that there's no 12th floor observatory or lookout. You HAVE to eat at one of the two restaurants up on that floor to enjoy the spectacular view of Furano. Also, some of the activities are only available during certain times of the year. When we arrived, it was the last day to ride the ropeway and have afternoon hot air balloon rides. Naturally, we figured we could still do it the next day... But then we read further into it and discovered that we missed our chance at some pretty awesome stuff. It was terribly disappointing but that's not the hotel's fault. You just have to do your research and plan your visit accordingly. And hope the weather works in your favor, too.

The prices of the drinks in the gift shop, 200 yen for a bottle of tea, was more than expected.

It is a very nice hotel! The onsen is wonderful. Ningle terrace is right in front of the hotel! We also tried the hot air balloon activity. The room is clean and spacious. Breakfast is good too!

The price is on the high side.

Location is suitable for winter. For summer vacation, a bit far from sightseeing places.
