Art Hotel Kokura New Tagawa

Spacious room. Well cleaned.

We were a group of 4. 2 rooms. Our room smelt badly of cigarettes. Got upgraded, but on a different floor.

Love the unique chairs, tables & beautiful breakfast location next to the garden & good location. Spacious, comfortable room

Noisy neighbors in the middle of the night & would be nice if they had soy, oat or almond milk option at breakfast

Convenient location and parking was cheap, around 900yen for overnight.

Room is very small, bed is like twin size and barely comfortable for 2 adults. The tub in the bathroom is really high so stepping into it could be difficult for people with mobility issues.

The garden, the restaurant and the proximity to the monorail station.

The facilities and furniture seemed outdated.

It was great that the hotel has a large Japanese garden, despite the fact that it is in the middle of a city.

The carpet in the room was too old and wearing out. TV seemed outdated and electricity plugs were too few and generally outdated.

Beautiful hotel with a beautiful garden. Just take the monorail to the first stop and walk a block over to the hotel.

This hotel was fantastic! Beautiful grounds and landscaping and a great location for walking to shops, restaurants, and Kokura Shrine. It was peaceful and calm. I loved the music which was piped into the room, with an option to turn it off as well. My tatami room was perfect and had a view of the garden. The staff was very pleasant and professional and helpful. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I have ever experienced. There was a bar and lounge also terrific! I highly recommend this hotel and I definitely will be returning next time I am in Kokura. Thank you for a wonderful and perfect stay!

Retro style hotel and rooms with lots of space and a fantastic buffet restaurant with traditional Japanese garden views Very easy to get to from the monorail and great dining options & shopping streets to explore within a short walk of hotel

Things seem a bit worn down which is fine compromise for more space and a fantastic dining area on 1st floor

Nothing although I didn’t realise that you have tepanyaki in the restaurant you needed to book three days in advance.

I really liked this hotel. Beautiful gardens you can stroll around or just admire from the cafe-bar. The rooms were huge by Japanese standards, and elegant in an old-worldy way. Hotel doubles as a wedding venue, and you can wander around the function areas or event visit the wedding shop if you're curious.

Just a few small touch ups needed in the room like fixing chipped paint and replacing silicone around the bathtub, to stop it feeling a bit tired. Otherwise, great stay.

New and spacious! The family room that I booked and stayed was on its own on the entire floor - separate wing in the hotel ( hard to explain). It has 2 double beds with enough bed linens to sleep 4 easily.Beautiful hotel but missing a public bath and on site parking

During a road trip through Japan, we stopped in Kitakyushu and stayed at Art Hotel—a great choice with a beautiful garden. The Japanese-style room featured a wooden bathtub. It's centrally located, within walking distance of a batting cage and excellent restaurants.

It is cheap and good value (HK$400/night or US$50/night) for a twin bed room. The staff are nice.There is no free parking but you can find a lot of paid parking with a good value (300-500 yen for overnight)If you have breakfast, the hotel restaurant has a wonderful garden scenery view and very relax.

Japanese Garden was great. Good location in the city center, entertainment district, shopping and restaurants in walking distance. Also only 5 min to the next Monorail station. Nice artsy room interior. Late checkout at 11 am.

No free parking, but paid parking lots right next to it.

The room was a great location within walking distance to the covered market and Kokura Castle. The room was a good size.

There are smoking rooms in the hotel, so even though we got a non-smoking room, there was a vague smell of cigarettes. It was a bit dusty in the room, as well, and there was mildew in the shower.
