Pros +
- Staff were excellent. Very helpful and were more than generous. We woke up early for our Safari which was organized by the hotel. Good vehicles, timely departure and very smooth experience. The pool was nice too.
- Everything was great !The hotel is very beautiful, with a big pools and several sunbeds and a garden. The staff of the hotel did an AMAZING job, we felt so loved and well cared of.We were visiting with our 2 young kids (2 years old and 3 months old), and they did everything to make us feel the most welcomed. They were so attentive in everything and each detail! The general manager was always there making sure we were enjoying our time, and he even did accompany us to the supermarket when we needed!Rooms were clean and spacious with everything we needed. We ate at their restaurant few times, either the buffet or a la carte and everything was delicious. Honestly, best price / quality hotel we could find in Sri Lanka, and, most important, best staff ever!
- The rooms are spacious and beds were very comfortable. We stayed in a room with two double beds and there was sofa and dinning table. Very comfortable! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great and had great options including traditional Sri Lankan cuisine.
Cons -
- We had a suite with 2 king beds and 1 toilet. The toilet was leaking a bit, so it was not the best look. Also, there wasn't an exhaust fan in the toilet. There are a lot of flies in the hotel and the gym has been closed for a while.
- When I was paying the bills, I realized that they had charged me extra to cover the commission charges that they had to pay for the booking.com from the customer.
- We couldn't go out to eat due to the location. Ate at the hotel - food was good but expensive.

The staff were amazing especially the manager of the hotel who was very kind and cooperative and accessible and helpful, highly recommended for families and I think it’s the best for anyone wants to go for udawalawe safari as they will help you arranging the jeep ,, we liked it as family, they made our day that time ( they gave us fruit from their own garden which was very delicious ???)
Great for the safari. Whole family in one room. We liked the pool and staff were attentive. Price suitable for level of hotel.
We couldn't go out to eat due to the location. Ate at the hotel - food was good but expensive.
The manager and staff of the hotel was very kind and offered us complimentary juice and fruit regularly- the room was spotless and so was the pool. They couldn’t have been more friendly.
Wonderful pool and such a great place to stay if you're in town for the safaris. The staff is super helpful and helped us arrange a birthday cake and a safari driver at short notice. Rooms are large, clean and ventilated. Really great value for money.
It's a slightly older hotel so keep your expectations in line but well maintained and really clean.
The hotel has a big pool and children playground. It is located near the national park so its great for safari. The rooms are great, although the lower level rooms can get quite moist. The hotel is being renovated. The family room is HUGE.
Could clean the windows in the family room for nicer views. The staff has to learn better english and they should improve the food (dinner). Breakfast buffet was great.

Great Hotel with Excellent ServiceI had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The entire property was very clean, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The pool was well-maintained and a great place to relax. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure guests had everything they needed. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again!

Everything was good
Everything! At first we were a bit sceptical because we felt like the only tourists in that hotel but it turned out to be an amazing stay. The breakfast there was the best breakfast I ever had. They always made fresh pastries and fulfilled all our wishes. They even gave us there motorbikes free of charge. The general manager Mr. Thushara was always here for us and in general the entire personal was very kind and welcoming.
The bathrooms were a bit old and the shower was leaking a little bit but for us it didn’t change the amazing experience we had.
Warm and friendly place and value for money. Great food.
Communication was a bit of a challenge. Maybe more staff can be trained to speak english. Only a constructive suggestion. They were very warm, helpful and friendly.
Great pool, amazing fruit coctails and tasty food, nice rooms and max comfort.Loved the local staff, they were very helpful and kind, especially the manager Mr Serasinghege, who arranged us everything we needed, in minutes, including Sankapala tempel tour.If we will visit Udawalawe in future, we will definitely go back to this luxurious hotel.
The Restaurant food and service by staff
Royal Reach Hotel is far from a 4-star experience. While the entrance looks good, the rooms are a nightmare—smelling of mold and not cleaned properly. We had to change rooms twice and finally settled on one that was slightly less moldy at the back. The restaurant food and staff were surprisingly good, but the overall facilities are severely lacking. For the price you pay expecting a 4-star hotel, this place is a complete disappointment. I would not recommend staying here.
The restaurant's service is exceptional, wonderful, especially the employees and the manager, who are very attentive and kind.
The girl at the reception has a bad attitude, provides very poor customer service, is arrogant, and very slow in everything she does. I asked her to clean the room before we went on the safari, and when we returned, it wasn’t clean, even though there were only three of us in the hotel. It would be good to have someone more proactive and interested in their work.
The staff tried to accommodate us really, too bad they couldn't really do much given the circumstances. The rooms were spacious, the bedsheets were clean and crisp. The pool was nice after a long day in the national park. The fish tanks were also a nice touch of color. We appreciated that they had a plate with fresh tomatoes at the breakfast buffet.
The hotel is undergoing some renovations, outside the room on the 2nd floor it looked really bad, wires everywhere...then we get to the food and the Christmas party. Sadly the food was subpar, the dishes were so spicy (we could only eat the mashed potatoes), the pork was severely undercooked, the staff really tried but they didn't really succeed. The breakfast food was so oily...The bathroom in the room on the ground floor was so dirty.
We stayed for three nights and had one rest day while there. It was well placed for the park and we loved feeding time at the elephant orphanage which we did on day 1. Great place for a quiet day. Bhagya on reception has everything under control!
Ran out of red wine (nearly!)
Very friendly staff who were welcoming and helpful! They went above and beyond to try and help out at all times. The pool was also perfectly positioned!
