Suzhou Marriott Hotel

Staff was super courteous and helped us throughout the trip. The rooms we booked were as promised and very clean. Breakfast had a lot of options and tasted pretty good. The views were as beautiful as the pictures showed and the room was very comfortable. Very happy with the stay

Worth your penny staying at Marroit.

Building exterior is Tired looking but within the hotel are well maintain and still looking, room are well lit and quiet,the bath room is huge and well kept. Checkin is smooth and staff are friendly as well.

Although situated in a nice and quiet location, it is within walking distance to local shops and restaurants, with a good drop-off area. Good if you have a lot of luggage and travelling with young and elderly members.Rooms are spacious and comfortable.Staff are friendly and the service is efficient.

My booking was supposed to check-in Marriot Taihou Lake Suzhou. Unfortunately Booking.com booked me to Marriot Suzhou by mistake during the booking process. I arrived Marriot Taihou Lake at 11:30pm and found out my booking mixed up. I called Marriot Suzhou for any possibility for refund. Unfortunately no news until now. My friend also has similar experience in the past with wrong booking due to misleading on line information.Therefore, I will try to avoid using booking.com for any hotel or flight bookings in future. :-(

The staff is very good. Explains very clearly the sites we are to visit.

The breakfast is basically O.K. However, overseas customers would prefer to have choice of tea bags as well as self prepared tea with milk or cream.

Stuff was very nice, room is comfortable, with all conveniences , nice bathtub .

There was an excellent choice for the buffet breakfast which catered for western as well as Chinese cuisine. The in room dining experience was exceptional and prompt. The staff were very professional and welcoming and made my stay memorable. When we arrived we were immediately upgraded to a better room on a higher floor. It was also my wedding anniversary and the staff arranged fruit and even a cake to help us celebrate. Service does not get better than this.

The hotel itself was fine except the temperature. The location was good and the breakfast was good.

The temperature in our room was 28 degrees. It was impossible to sleep. They brought an air con up to our room but it was old and made zero difference. We couldn’t turn the heating off because when the power card was in it was on. We were very disappointed. It ruined our weekend as because we only got about 3 hours sleepI had to go home after checkout to sleep, instead of exploring Suzhou. Felt completely ripped off. I feel like this hotel didn’t even meet the basic need of being able to sleep. Honestly would have been more comfortable on the floor in the lobby.

The breakfast was very good. There was a good variety of Asian and Western food. The staff service was excellent, they were very polite and courteous. They were always willing to help and go that extra mile by providing extra personal service, for example pulling the chair away from the table to make it easier for the female guest to sit down. Making our morning coffee and bringing it to or table, even the chefs were very knowledgeable and skillful at their job. I had the Chinese noodle soup for breakfast one morning and watched the Chef hand make the noodles in front of me, it was amazing and the chicken noodle soup with pok chow was delicious!

The swimming pool water was very cold for the time of year. It was a lovely indoor pool but as it was January, winter in China, the water was too cold to swim in for long, we expected it to be warm as it was an indoor pool. My husband and I only spend 5 minutes in the pool. We went back to the individual changing room for a hot plunge pool dip instead, at least the water in the plunge pool was nice and hot.

In China, it is always difficult to judge 5-star hotels as many are rather poorly maintained old facilities without customer service-oriented culture. This Marriott is a true five-star hotel, from the staff (reception, housekeeping, breakfast, pool/gym/spa), to the facilities. Two examples. One, on our second and last day our kids (8 and 5) were not in the mood for eating breakfast so we asked if it was possible to take away some pastries and yoghurts for them to eat later on. To our surprise, the staff gave us a take-away box. Two, many hotels try to save on the heating bill by keeping the swimming pool/spa/gym area heating well below minimum standards. But that was not the case at the Marriott, so we end up spending a lot of time in the pool, jacuzzi, and sauna.

The TVs are a bit too old (perhaps 10 years ++ old?) and, assuming that the costs of replacing flat-screen TVs in 2021 are not that high, they should be brought up to standard. Note that this is the only thing I have noticed that was out of sync with the rest of the property.

Base on the hotel chain, location a bit far but gorgeous sight of the city view on high floor, friendly staffs, clean environment and perfect dinner
