Pros +
- Stay was comfortable and exceeded our expectation in terms of quality of stay. Cleanliness, comfort and staff behaviour was excellent. The food variety and quality was to our liking. Room was clean, well maintained and spacious.
- Good location next to market street, so we could just walk to nearby restaurants and spice shops. Rooms were maintained well and clean. Staff were kind when we needed assistance.
- The real issue with boking this place was complete lack of intelligent customer service about the status of the reservation and payment. Although this was booked through Booking.com with a cancelable period (I had no intention to cancel) the hotel demanded payment through their own links. Credit card payments did not work. I had to pay cash by bank transfer. After that was paid, they kept asking for payment again and again. If I replied, a bot would reply asking for evidence. When I sent evidence, the bot would reply evidence was missing. In the meantime, some fraudster got my booking information and managed to get a false charge applied in the name of the Sterling booking to my credit card. I had to cancel and replace the credit card. Multiple specific inquiries about the booking went unanswered. Nobody could be bothered to answer my specific question. It was only slightly better with a separate booking in Sterling Munnar. When I tried to reach them my phone, after I held on for minutes following their AI nonsense, someone just picked up the phone and slammed it down. Happened several times.I will studiously avoid anything branded Sterling. No problem with any other hotel booking I made in India via Booking.com or its counterparts.

A nice hotel that reminds me a bit of a time travel to the late 80s.Family with 3 children (6,9,11)The rooms are spacious and clean although the sheets and towels provided need updating. The mini bar did not work properly.Regarding the safe, it is not attached to the wall and they needed to replace it.The breakfast is good and varied and mainly suitable for the local diner. The staff should be positively mentioned, who did everything to satisfy our needs and prepare food to the children's taste.Cons - Loud music in the evening from a nearby entertainment venue.

Location.
Every thing, outdated rooms , really need to be worked on , money to be spent on the rooms wear and tear . Avg food , really below average .
l liked it that but was close to the boat ride and they provided some rides
front desk staff as soon as I walked in for check in had some serious attitude, he was so disrespectful also booking.com said one price and they took extra claiming it’s taxes. that never happens at other sterling property I stayed in. regardless staff really was an issue and also the bed was so old it felt like you were sleeping in rock. I had 3 privilege suite. with the money I spend there they should have better staff and good comfortable bed. even the linens were so old it was rough to touch. terrible place 0 for everything. I could not sleep.
Nice hotel.
Noisy. A party late into the night played loud deep bass music which almost made our bed vibrate! Kept us awake. Other guests were too noisy, in the lobby and in the restaurant. Staff were not trained to manage them.We expected the resort hotel which was Sterling Thekkady when we visited some years ago, but instead found what should probably be described as a business class hotel in a resort town! Will not go to Sterling again.
The location was close to the town.
Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Would probably rate it a 3 or 2.5 star at most. Food was terrible with not many choices. The staff seemed disinterested when we needed help.On the very last day we had multiple power outages and the water was a brownish yellow colour. When we informed staff they did not care.
Nice and clean, very spacious rooms
Not much of common space/green area
Spacious rooms with good views and friendly staff.
The staff at Sterling Thekkady were amazing so helpful in every way. The beds were comfortable and the room size was generous. Each bedroom in the family suite had its own bathroom.
The bathrooms were old and dated and looked like they hadn't been cleaned with a bad smell. The hotel restaurant didn't have half of the items on the menu. The hotel is sold on booking.com as Sterling Hotel however the sign above reception says Hotel Cinnamon. I thought I had been dropped off at the wrong place.
Staff were helpful and generous. Close to town but set back just enough to get quiet
Room is good staff very friendly
The location of the property is not apt for a place like Thekkady
Property is good and very near to local market and accessibility is good
Towels provided is with some stains and need to change as new
Although requiring updating, the rooms were very comfortable. Each bedroom has a seperate lounge, so there is lots of room. The swimming pool is wonderful. Hotel is very central and excellent staff. Thanks to Prasanth and Prakash in the restaurant.
Could do with updating.
Rooms were good. Staff was very helpful and responsive
Food was bad for a Sterling.Swimming pool had rules and regulations written for guests but nobody was there to look that they are being followed. Guests were dirtying the pool and were allowed to get in normal clothes(even salwar). Can’t use the pool if u see how people are using it.
Food was good. Good spread (buffet)
More towels and water bottles while cleaning the room
When i checked in, the ladies at Reception were very welcoming, kind and offered up plenty of information about the hotel and the surrounding area. The rooms are more like a 1 bedroom apartment than a hotel suite, they are quite large and spacious. The rooftop pool was a delight, the surrounding views from up top were magical and having the pool to yourself was awesome during the day.
I don't think this place is a 4 star hotel, maybe a 2... My balcony view looked onto the main street, which was loud. When I asked for another room / view with the mountains, I was told this is my room. Clearly the hotel isn't as popular with tourists, as most of the facilities were not available and had been locked up. There is no seating area / dining options on the rooftop (or the photos were just used for attention)The buffet breakfast was the worst, the coffee was undrinkable, and unfortunately I had stale cornflakes and unripe fruit. (the coffee shop wasn't open either), the spa facilities looked like a spare room, not very tranquil.
Disappointing
I have stayed at this hotel a year ago and it was great. The quality and standard has gone down enormously. Inattentive staff and dirty pool (green in colour with insects swimming around).
In each unit we were surprised to find 2 big rooms which could easily accommodate 3 guests! There is a bed in the lounge area. And a double bed in the bedroom. Hotel is quite close to the Periyar shuttle bus stop. An auto rickshaw which can easily accommodate 3 pax charged ₹50/- to drop us there.Food at the Cinnamon Restaurant in the hotel was very good. We tried the local fish curry which was delicious! We also used the Spa facility for foot massages which was relaxing after the long Nature Walk in the Periyar National Park.
A reply from the hotel would have been appreciated. I had asked if 3 people could be accommodated in the room but I did not receive any reply at all. In fact the auto reply was ridiculously irrelevant. I need not have booked 2 units. One would have been sufficient.
