    Pros +

    • Really clean and modern. The guy checking me in was very friendly and helpful. Great location near where the Holland America cruise ships dock.
    • Paulo is the best part of this property, he is very helpful and personable. I don’t normally stay at hostels, but this experience was great, and opened me up to the idea of staying in more hostels in the future. I really appreciate the option for a female only dorm. The bed was comfortable, and the facilities were very clean. Breakfast in the morning is free and had bread, yogurt, cheese, juice, coffee, fruits. Paolo let me leave my luggage for the whole day since my flight was late at night for only a few euros. Highly recommend!
    • Great location, great space. The shower and bathroom accommodations were clean and in good shape. Guests at the hostel are polite and considerate of others. Staff was friendly and helpful. I was able to store my suitcase easily, and while I didn't utilize it, there is an efficient communication system to provide rides from the airport to the hostel. Staff are incredibly accommodating and kind. There was a simple yet wide selection of breakfast items. The dining area was well organized and clean. Hostel staff was quick to provide additional items upon asking.

    Cons -

    • Towels were charged extra. It would make sense one-towel to be given at the beginning of the stay.
    • Towel's rental, absence of kitchen
    • No complaints here!

Paulo and his wife were super helpful! We had to check in late on day and they set everything up for us. They even called us a cab on out last day. Breakfast was great! Bathrooms were always clean! Would definably come back!

Paulo (the host) is very friendly and open to help everyone, met friendly people in the hostel, great location that is close to the city centre

Would like more common spaces for people to socialize in

The host Paulo it’s super friendly and it’s a real guide for the island even from his desk, if you have any doubt just ask him and he will give you the right info.

It is a new, clean hostel. Walking distance from the harbour and the town center, shops and restaurants are nearby. As a family business the owner goes above and beyond to help you out.

There is no fridge in the property and I missed it a lot. There is no possibility to cook your dinner.

Nice location, very clean, much gratitude to the super friendly owner, very helpful, welcoming and speaks very good english. Has lots of tips, and can arrange for taxis. Paulo made the stay very nice. Friendly staff. Good shower. People are quiet after 22:00, no party in the house. I would come again if I choose a hostel.

There is a kitchenette, to make tea, there is a microwave. No kitchen for cooking.

The place was super clean. The manager gave you an amazing plan for places to visit.

You were not allowed to stay only 10 more minutes in the accommodation after check-out time. Even though you removed your stuff. It was a little bit sad since I wanted to finish my conversation with the people from my room.

    10LorettaPosted on: 9-9-2024

Passal is new, modern, gorgeous, and well kept. The white decor is mixed with old wood touches. Reception is very responsive. Breakfast is great. Security is excellent. The dorm beds have curtains. The air-conditioning works great if dorm mates are in agreement about using it. There seemed to be enough toilets, sinks, and showers when I was there.

You can attempt to tiptoe quietly out of the dorm and silently open the door, but when you close it behind you it's impossible to keep the latch back and you must pull it closed with a very loud clack. The noise from shutting dorm doors can echo across the marble floor, waking sleepers.

The host was wonderful. He was always there to help and recommend places to see and what to do on the island. He even upgraded our room on the last night! If im back on this island, thats the place I'll stay again for sure!

A real gem of a hostel in central Ponta Delgada - all the areas are kept super fresh and clean, there is air-con in the rooms (you just need to negotiate room temperature with your roommates), the key card system is easy to use. Paolo, the owner, is very welcoming and generous - he went out of his way to assist this crazy solo traveller lady with finding the best solutions for travel around Sao Miguel island by bus - maps, timetables etc - and I felt very safe knowing I could call for assistance/ taxi if needed. He's also happy to arrange scooter or bike hire. Eugenia, the receptionist is very helpful and friendly also. Breakfast is fresh and filling, I even made a sandwich for lunch later on my hike and got a paper bag to put it in. Luggage can be stored at the reception if you check out early, but are sightseeing until the evening. I heartily recommend staying at Passal Hostel and would stay there again!

Great location, really comfortable beds, spacious rooms with powerful Aircon. The place is spotlessly clean, breakfast is very good and the staff is really lovely and helpful.

The owner at the reception was very friendly and helpful. He knows the island pretty well and told us all about the good spots, you need to see. The breakfast in the morning was from 8-10am and was really lovely prepared. Our room was really clean and had air conditioning which was great because it was very hot outside when we stayed there.
