Playa Tropical Resort Hotel

The Architecture and design of the property is really nice but poorly maintain. Staff were all nice and friendly. Nice view of the ocean.

Over priced. Over all maintenance is poor. Ground floor men¿s room hand wash both out of order no way to wash your hand. Swimming pool is dirty with green moss all over the side. Events place by the pool full of cobwebs and dusty.

the breakfast if good.I like the facilities and also the view, and the beach outside the resort is really nice.Actually my family comes to this place quite often, something like at least once a year.

Nothing really, the place is good enough for me and my family.

Breakfast was good and delicious but the menu was limited for lunch and dinner when we checked in.

There was no wheelchair accessible path and no shower chairs for those that need it.

Room was clean and bed comfortable. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast. Had over 80 people and the hotel stayed very quiet. They were able to locate someone to do massage on short notice.

Hotel was due for renovation about 10 years ago. All power to the room is turned off when you leave the room. So no power to the air conditioning or refrigerator. Power to the air conditioner is controlled remotely at night. You can turn it down all you want and it won’t work. Nice pool but very primitive filtration. No smell of chlorine in the water so not sure how clean the water is and small items floating around. I notice this due to having a pool.

Service and staff gave us an excellent service, from Reception to HouseKeeping to the Dining staff.

The disappointing beach front and the view of the villa's own pool area. It would be nice if they had it more developed. The toilet door is also made of bamboo sticks, wherein you are seen while inside doing your thing.

There was cable and WiFi on property.

The grounds were not up to par. Social media surely deceives you via photos posted online versus reality. While we were in our room, an employee just opened our door without even knocking. Isn’t it common practice for resort workers to knock first? That was a pretty creepy experience. We decided to go for a swim in the pool. Only lasted about 10 minutes. The amount of green algae that is on the walls were disgusting! We left because we were afraid we’d get a staphylococcus infection! When we got back to the room, the toilet wasn’t working as well as the bidet faucet. If there was one thing I could give the resort a star for is that they were quick to have someone come up and look at the issue. Took maybe 35-40 minutes to get the clogged bidet and toilet tank working. Guess what??? The 3 guys that were in there doing the repair didn’t even bother to clean their mess. It was nasty water that was left all over the bathroom floor for us to clean up. Thankfully it was just an overnight stay for my family and I. The following day, we were able to see the pool guy “cleaning” the pool. We saw that with whatever pool cleaning device he had, he was only cleaning certain areas. He was not cleaning the green filth on the walls. As for the free breakfast that came with our stay, I wouldn’t suggest getting the tocino or especially corned beef. They gave like a table spoon of corned beef to what looked like 2 cups of rice. When we checked out the person working the reception desk wasn’t even friendly. We were happy to leave the resort right after we ate. Couldn’t stand another second there.

The great thing about Playa is the ambiance. It was well designed. The staff are respectful and professional.

The room is not sound proof. There was a party or some sort of indoor games where a group of more than 10 people were shouting in the hallways right outside our room, even in the middle of the night. We barely got some sleep and were so stressed from the day's flight. We were hoping to rest but the noise from the outside was terrible.

External set up is just fair!

Value of money is unfair. The room set up is not the same as it was posted. Bathroom was clogging and the way they place the electrical outlet is close to the sink which it is not safe to the guests. It might cause electric caution esp when it is wet

Swimming pool and kind and polite staff

Facilities need repair and upgrade. Water heater was always inoperable.

The pool area was beautiful.

The villas would have been nice but they definitely need to update and repaint/change doors in villas. The place looks outdated and needs touch up.

there’s a bed bugs and many mosquito inside the room. Not good to stay especially when you have kids

I booked for 3 days but I had to cancel the 2nd day because: It stinks, rooms smells musty and like a sewer. no hand towels, foot towel so dirty. everything is so gross in the room including the washroom. i had to call maintenance to clean the toilet, we arrived with toilet full of rusty scrubs. They are over price,pictures and description is far way different in reality. They agreed to refund me but I’m still waiting for it. They really need to update.

This location is the closet hotel to my family. The staff is really friendly. The food I good.

The air conditioning felt it didn’t get to the right temp. the shower drain didn’t drain properly.

Breakfast was included with our stay. The location of the resort is conveniently located near a 7-11 so I can get a snack. The view is perfect. The staff is professional and friendly.

The shower pressure was weak in the morning (only experienced once) but it didn’t bother me much.

The view was amazing. The buildings and huts are lovely and the food was good. The outside patio, Tilapia pond and pool area were beautiful.

The pool was very large and lovely but the water was not clean and cloudy. The rooms were ok, beds dated and bathrooms not that clean

The ambiance was great and the food was delicious.

Some wear on the doors that showed rust and deterioration.
