Restaurant downstairs if you don't want to go out for dinner. Breakfast was very good.

Parking very limited in their lot, you will need to park on the street.

Staff were excellent. Very nice and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. The restaurant is amazing.

Restaurant downstairs was good, but fully booked and I could not get dinner on one of the nights. And there was nothing around

Very noisy in the evening from the restaurant downstairs.Sink in the bathroom was blocked.Toilet had internal leak and was noisy all night long.

Nice quiet location, restaurant in hotel looked nice and a Pub just round the corner. Fairly close to Movie park. Rooms a good size

Staff didn't seem to speak much English, Breakfast options very poor. Room was a little underwhelming. Staff didn't seem that friendly. Not very welcoming.

LACK OF A/C and not even a portable fan to cool the hot air. We were on the 2nd floor and t he temperature in the room exceeded 30C . Staff not speaking English.No bottled water provided by the hotel. Also no information from Booking.com that hotel is being refurbished and no rooms on the first floor available due to this. I have difficulty walking, so it was very hard to climb to the room. I noted that despite being a Genius 1 level i didn't get any discount for this stay. Can you explain why, please?

Bedroom facilities very basic, no aircon, window opened out onto scaffolding. Pillow way too thin

Clean and comfortable rooms with an Italian restaurant just outside. The breakfast was absolutely amazing, served in a traditional Italian style.

I can't say that I didn't like anything. The only downside is that the hotel is located about an hour from Gelsenkirchen main station. However, the location itself is great, within walking distance of Sankt Urbanus Kirche. Tram 302 and then bus 383 will take you from the station to a stop near the hotel.

Fantastic hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the food in the restaurant was great - both the pasta they dished up for us with no fuss at 22.30 after the football and the breakfast included in the price of the room. We came for the Euros, so booked what we thought was a cheap and cheerful hotel that would fit the bill, safe to say La Scala far exceeded expectations. (They also let us stay and do a couple of hours work in the restaurant after checkout which was incredibly helpful).

The restaurant is very good

The room is at least 30 years old, ugly, dusty and uncomfortable. Not clean with piles of bird poo on the windowsill! I never give negative reviews but this demands it. It's clear whoever runs this hotel doesn't care at all.

Loved the restaurant and the friendly staff. Great drinks and excellent breakfast. Wish we’d had dinner there too.

A bit hot at night but that’s ok

nice place, we enjoyed our one night stay. Good restaurant for dinner options, breakfast was nice as well. for us an option to charge the car was essential, comes at extra fixed coat of 25 eur though

Hotel La Scala is near to center of Geilserkirhen, Westphalian University of applied science, have a good breakfast, Italian meal and very nice owner. If you are businessmen, professor or person who love small , intime hotel, than is definitely La Scala.

Good location, restaurant look lovely and the breakfast was really nice. Staff very friendly and welcoming, WiFi was good and was ample street parking.

Was a little bit hot in the room with no fan or air conditioning.

The staff was very nice and welcoming. Especially in the morning when we had breakfast. Mara always welcomed us with a smile and offered us right away if we wanted tea or coffee.The restaurant is of course italian, but even the rooms had an italian vibe to it. It actually made me miss to go back to Italy.

Small hotel, near to city, westphalian university. Super for professor's, PhD students in Erasmus Erasmus exchange. Relatively cheep for this area. Personal is very good, gently, you fill this domestic atmosphere. Cuisine is Italian and very good.

The breakfast was fine with a good selection and choice to suit all tastes

There is no elevator and the room was on the first floor.Being Monday, the restaraunt was closed so we had to find a restaraunt in the town centre
